  1. When you are absolutely elite at some stats (kicking efficiency; accuracy at goal etc...); of course this will cover up other deficiencies (slow one paced midfield). Geelong's forward line in their zenith (2007 - 2011) wasn't that much to write home about.
  2. Haven't you heard of CGI? Even the handball and the puffed chest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfR9iY5y94s 1:00 - 1:20
  3. You must be one of those guys that pass a roulette table with a screen full of blacks and pump the red.
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfR9iY5y94s This blonde guy at 1 minute to 1 minute 20, is Patrick Dangerfield.
  5. I must admit, that (What is Watts doing in the ruck?) was Lethal's low-point. In addition to justifying the Caroline Wilson vitriol on 3aw. He is getting old no doubt. But he worked out Melbourne and our deficiencies, long before the rank-n-file did here.
  6. Stuie, Did you see Lloyd's assessment on FC last night? He listed 3 quick players. One is nearly 40 years of age. Another lucky to get a game. The other, a no-name. Next.
  7. Fan? This aint you?
  8. Ox and many supporters here don't get it and a quick to blame convenient issues such as "psychobabble of Etihad". Etihad highlights our lack of speed. Our onballers are really one-paced. Petracca and Brayshaw aren't quick either. Vince, Jones, Tyson, Salem etc... etc... I said it in a post earlier this year. We can't defend a quick spreading team, and are better suited to playing the likes of Collingwood, Richmond, North Melbourne, Freo (circa 2016), Geelong, Hawthorn rather than super-quick teams. Bulldogs beat us there by 100 wasn't it, a year ago. St.Kilda are inconsistent, but our supporter-base haven't given them the respect they deserve. They are young, provide ferocity at the contest, and are quick. Matthew Lloyd said the same thing about North's mids last night on FC. One-paced and lack line-breakers. Leigh Matthews has said it about us time and time again, but because it is a negative, demon supporters block their ears and mention "Bruns". Roos and Co have done well; but they have gone over-board on one-paced inside types. Penny finally dropped? Maybe.
  9. Uncharted territory for the MFC with a coach going out on his own terms. I wonder how the rank-n-file will approach this. How did Sydney handle it? Will we give him a standing ovation at 3/4 time? Will the trumpeter blow a few sombre notes? Will the Roos-Views-Interview bloke give him a few thought-provoking questions, interrupted by tears, on the PA system? Will others expect astray change from the 4.5m? Will we act according to the scoreboard and W-L column? Will Walls and Demetriou chair him off? Will it be our last home game v Hawthorn? Our last G game v Carlton? Our last game v Geelong?
  10. A lot of cocky MFC supporters with a bit of cash. Petracca has shortened dramatically in the rising star odds. Second favourite atm, without playing a game. Diamond Jim Mark II?
  11. Like I said after the Essendon loss, speed kills us. I won't judge until I have seen us play quick teams like: Bulldogs; Saints; GWS with a forward line Richmond not only made errors, but didn't make us pay for ours. Lid on, until I have seen us against speed.
  12. He's actually breathing in mate with pursed lips and a 4mm gap centrally. Also he nods his head when he listens. Also his muscles of mastication contract intermittently during listening. While you guys were waiting for Schwabby's whiteboard Wednesday, I was watching a Roos presser. If you are going to do forensics, give us the cake as well as the icing.
  13. Rob will be glad to know you/we don't give 2 hoots about him.
  14. EFL Mitcham - Brother Rob Similar incident/mechanism apparently. Genetic factor?
  15. Did Craigy bring Dank to Melbourne?
  16. He was actually paying $12 to lead Melbourne's votes only 2 weeks ago. That was the bet of the year for mine, unless of course he finds a brick wall that puts him on an injury list.
  17. When Matthew Lloyd criticises Melbourne over the past 5-6 years, the peanuts go crazy. When Caro had a go at us (and she has a go at em all), again, we (supporter-base crumbled). Lloyd was actually bullish about us after round 1, suggesting we are on-track for 10 wins. The intelligence of a supporter-base comes down to just accepting quality judgement from people that don't kiss butt. We haven't done it well. Those posters that criticised the club during the downward spiral of the last decade, actually walked against a tide of applause. Many of us just deserve light-weight sycophantic opinion such as Mark Doran, Finey, Robbo (general after the war), Harf and the rest. That is what you deserve in bucket loads. Why don't we just ban negative opinion about this footy club. In other words, ban objectivity. We can't handle it. We think we can. But we can't. FWIW, I agree with Matthews: Hogan isn't a multi-dimensional mobile tall. I am buying shares in Frost, who needs to pull his finger out.
  18. For those of you that were at the G versus the dogs when we won, we actually struggled in the first half when the game was open. After half time, we closed their space down and Roos brought the old Swans trick to win the game. We also had McCartney with fresh intel. But if you want to ignore the Etihad demolition, and point to this MCG win, good on you. The game has changed remarkably. Read Paul Chapman's article last Friday, and also why the Suns at $6 were the easiest money of all time last round. It is virtually impossible with the way the game is now adjudicated (by umpires with pressure from McLaughlin) to shut a game down with congestion. Fact is, that Matthews made more sense about Watts after 1 game of football, than most posters here (and ology) over an 8 year period. Bit like me with Morton.
  19. They are the 2nd oldest list in the comp with Freo (1). They are the most experienced in terms of av. games played. When you say anymore, when are you comparing them to/with? Doug Wade in the goal square? Mick Nolan in the ruck? Ziebel - Slow Cunnington - Slow Waite - Slow Brown - Slow Firrito - Old/slow Hansen - Slow Dal Santo - Slow Swallow - Slow Petrie - Slow Gibson - Slow Any speed they have is old ... Harvey/Higgins/Thomas ... Wells (and an ageing Harvey) are the only ones that could be termed "electric" and hence line breakers.
  20. Probably our most important player...
  21. This guy gets it right more often than not. We all remember Watts' first game and the comments he made to much angst from most here and on 'ology. Remember H's interview? After the Essendon loss, Matthews pointed to our lack of leg speed as a big issue; and suggests we have focussed too heavily on getting in tougher, albeit slower inside mids. While he is right, Roos and Co. are day 3 into rebuilding Rome. The Kangaroos, apart from Wells, aint quick, which should suit us. The Bulldogs, who are speed personified, smashed us in 2015 at Etihad. On Hogan he said that he doubted his body type for the modern game. Hogan plays the more traditional sit in the square "kick it to me" role, rather than hard long leads that give the guy with the ball a hit-up and/or creates a vacuum of space behind him. BTW, he is still waiting on a re-interview with the big H.
  22. Good move 7. Melbourne should pump them. If they dont, Essendon would have dragged us to a new level that would be unwatchable.
  23. Sitting in the MFC crowd over the past few years, I thought his name was "Get off", rather than "Jack". The last people to complain about this guy hanging on and waiting for his pound of flesh should be the majority of supporters that had a real go at him. Watts has got to be the most mentally toughest footballer to withstand the scrutiny externally (other supporters and media) and internally. I raised Tom Hawkins as an example of a big guy who did nothing for his first 5 years. Hawkins had less expectation and scrutiny, but had much better support and delivery. Get what you can big Jack. You will deserve every cent after copping your whack from quarter-wits who barrack for Melbourne and half-wits that dont. Having said that, balance will be restored in the force, when Watts stands up on GF day with a medal around his neck in the rednblue no.4...in front of the MCC. The curse will finally be laid to rest.
  24. In: MFC supporter smugness; opposition supporter ridicule; Sam Mitchell-like gestures. Out: Any memory of 2000 GF
  25. Re-introduce yourself to the missus and kids. Spend 2 ms on the anachronistic shield competition. Stay away from here for 3 days and avoid Jesse Hogan and Jack Watts overload.
