    Skills and hardrunning need to be the theme of this pre season imo, they're our two most obvious weaknesses if you don't count the actual playing list.

    Agree, has the makings of the best forward line in the comp, but 3 years ago we had the makings of the best midfield in the comp when jack trengove and Scully came onboard, and that hardly worked out

    I think using the bargaining chip of the captaincy might be our best bet of getting a high profile experienced mid, say to Dale Thomas for example, how would you like to be captain of the oldest club in the comp during it's revival? the idea of trading them is abit silly imo, if we get a great offer it needs to be considered, neither have earned the right to be untouchable but they're both young and have bucket loads of ability so lets back ourselves to get them right and make them gun players, they probably are decent enough leaders but in tough times you don't need to throw the weight of the world on the shoulders of kids when you have Jones, Clark, Garland and Frawley who i am sure would all make good captains.

    Imo this is exactly why we should trade him, i reckon we'd get a first round pick and he is clearly not commited to the cause, that attitude will be seen by the younger players and spread, need more blokes like Nathan Jones who are hell bent on turning things around, not fair weather players like Watts.

    I hope the coach is decided if not announced so they can start pulling strings and get that under control, an experienced mid for mine would be top of the priority list, as well as inside mids from the draft.

    The other side of that being he had imo abit more to work with at Carlton, Gibbs, murphy and co had Judd to lead them, we don't really have anyone like that so developing mids is a much tougher ask.

    I see no reason we can't get Sheed, crouch and Dunstan if we trade well Pick 1 to brisbane for pierce hanley and pick 7 i'm guessing they'll have jack watts for pick 9 we will have 1,3 and 19 i imagine so that leaves us with 3,7,9,19 bang, scharenberg, sheed, crouch and dunstan all in red and blue.

    I would be fairly happy with any of those five, finallly seems like the club is getting serious about improving, remember Ratten had Carlton playing some really good football at the start of last year, flag favourites at one point until they got a few injuries

    Thanks mate, I was working on the theory Watts will want to go and that's the best deal we could get for him, if he stays i'd maybe look at trading pick one for Rocliff and pick 5

    Not sure, but unless we make an out of this world offer i can't see them thinking about it, he might win the brownlow this year.

    We are a basket case and they're right in the mix for Buddy, they have the money to splash that they don't really need pick 1, however pick 1 would go a huge way to improving us next year, so it will really be a statement of which is the priority team for them.

    We will have to wait and see, just imo speculating is pointless, he is going to play until we hear different.

    Not that we shouldn't/won't try, guessing the dogs view him as probably the only untouchable player they have.
