  1. How's Weideman moving for anyone who is there? very interested to hear how he goes! last year when he played against the Northern Blues VFL side he had 14 marks in the first half or something, a lot of them contested
  2. I would be so worried if i was a tigers supporter, i look at their team and wonder where the next wave is, and their current stars are overrated and not going to get them near a flag so they should worry far more about than then any off field music stuff
  3. Have you seen him train? i promise as soon as he gets out and plays a few games he'll become a favourite very quickly, he's another Brayshaw, or Oliver but with the power and Marking to nearly match Jesse Hogan
  4. Honestly and this isn't a knock on Brayshaw, but i see Vanders as one of our best and most important players, he adds grunt and agression, tackles hard and sets a great example, but he's also a good marking option around the ground and very capable of going forward and kicking a few goals. Brayshaw i think will be the better player in time, but to me that's a mark of how good Gus is rather than anything about Vanders.
  5. Especially happy to hear he's come up. should be fine for round 1
  6. I am really interested to see two things this year, 1. how much game day control Goodwin seems to have, and how his game plan translates in terms of our win loss and overall performance 2. if as i suspect the interchange cap only further widens the gap between the top, middle and bottom teams, i can't see teams like Carlton having the legs to compete with many teams this year.
  7. The biggest difference between us and the Saints in my opinion is they're still relying on the older blokes, Roo, Joey, Steven, Armatidge, fisher and Dempster to really be the core of the team, ours has kind of been handed on the most part over to our young guys, Viney, Hogan, Tyson, Mcdonaly, Gawn, Brayshaw and co, with Jones and Vince this year playing an important but less vital role, so i think we are about two years ahead of where they are in terms of chasing a flag. having said that i don't think 2016 will be a year where we see a heap more wins and play finals, i still think we lack a quality partner for Jesse, some outside class and speed and our delivery out of the back line is still a bit to shaking to consistently beat good teams just yet. but i see us as an 8-12 win team, depending on how things go, but the big improvement i think will be close we get in our losses, i think we are now a team that won't be blown away and will put up a real fight every week regardless of who we play and where we play. I also don't think the Saints have recruited all that well, Billings is a gun, but Dunstan i see as being solid but nothing special, McCartin is going to take some time and the jury is out, same with Goddard, in terms of the young talent Tyson Viney Brayshaw Petracca Hogan Gawn Mcdonald Kent Salem Oliver Weiderman Trengove Stretch Harmes Billings Mcartin Bruce Goddard Hickey Dunstan Greesham Lonie Not sure i fi am missing any, but on exposed form i think our young players are miles better and will take the club forwrd, i am not convinced the saints have anything like the group to do that, still rely on the old blokes, Bruce and Billings are the only two on that list i believe would be certains in their next finals team, maybe lonie
  8. I think the biggest weakness they've had for a long time is the lack of a forward partner for Jack who is any good, and the sheer drop off in quality of midfielders they've got Cotchin who is good but goes missing the moment any heat is on as their captain Lids, is a gun but injury prone Martin is a jet and not much else, Miles and co i consider to be B-C grade players, and they overrate these blokes
  9. I'd say Trenners is an upgrade on Bugg, he's got a mature body, uses the ball very well and knows how to kick a goal, do guys like Kennedy do enough to cover the class of Trenners, i think you could easily leave Pedo bear out and add Trenners to that bench as well.
  10. Probably just have a [censored] i reckon.
  11. I reckon these days 99% of it is done by the managers anyways, Jesse really just says what he wants to do, i wouldn't be at all surprised if he was just very aware of the fact what ever he said would be heavily read into and probably end up on top of an article and all over the news, can't just be as simple as waiting for now.
  12. you want to make major changes to a team that has just won 3 games in a row? i reckon out Wagner, M.Jones, O'Mac In: Lumumba Dunn, Brayshaw
  13. Robbie Gray, Max Gawn, Daniel Menzel ( granted not long back but certainly not lost any ability ) and if he's fit and firing he's head of Grimes, Matt jones, Bugg, Harmes play as a high half forward rotating through the midfield, maybe a bit off half back in the daniel cross mold as he isn't quick, but smart, good overhead and uses it well.
  14. I personally don't think he'll leave the Crows anytime soon, he's extremely highly rated over there, and it makes sense because he's a good footballer who i believe still has a lot of upside
  15. He's a limited footballer unfortunately and a lot of players are overtaking him, absolute ripper bloke so would love him to come good but unfortunately i don't see a position for him in the side this year, or going forward beyond handy depth.
  16. I'm sure he will, and i agree but i think you've missed the point. Cale Hooker and Michael Hurley are AA defenders who have both been linked to moves to other clubs but that doesn't get anywhere near the attention Jesse does, even thought they're OOC this year, not next. it's ridiculous.
  17. Maybe just to address the rubbish, over the top critisism that's coming on the back of one average game.. Poor Jesse cops it worse than Jack Watts does, two yaers left on his contract and far more strong speculation about him then any other player out of contract this year.
  18. the Tyson & Salem deal still rates right up there with the better deals this clubs done in a long time
  19. Kb has lost the plot, Hogan led the league in contested marks last year and kicked slighly less goals, then all three of them combined in his first year.
  20. Jesse to me comes across as one of the more genuine guys during interviews
  21. to be fair, Cripps season was outstanding! i think of the last 5 years he's been the second best behind Hogan
  22. correct, but in my opinion Harmes has shown far more, i was a bit underwhelmed by Hunt, especailly given all the talking up he was getting.
  23. Pretty sure Jono Brown and Jesse have caught up a few times in a mentor capacity so maybe he could help, not always the best kick but had a really strong run up/action
  24. Jesse Hogan and Tom Mcdonald both looking like staying on as well, way to much positivity, what ever happened to the old Melbourne?
