We should rest Gawn, Hoges and Salem for the Dogs
Ted Lasso replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
No way, this group needs to win as much as possible. -
I reckon you'll see Tmac and Jesse Sign on if we improve, and possibly both go if we don't, it's a pretty simple equation really.
-
Jack Viney is going to be one of the dominant mids in the comp this year, and still has alot of room to improve.
-
It's amazing how big an impact Hogan has without really going near it, you can see defenders panic just because he's near the drop of the ball, it's like Carey in his day
-
we had to hire the best available successor for Roosy an i believe that was Goodwin, he could easily have been a senior coach elsewhere at this point, clearly extremely highly rated within the industry and i think he will add a very good attacking side to our game.

Angus Brayshaw's knee injury (minor strain - 4 weeks)
Ted Lasso replied to Wealthy bigpennies's topic in Melbourne Demons
Doesn't seem like anyone is super worried about it, so that's a good sign, i reckon if it were an ACL we'd know by now. -
interesting to see how we go with the 90 interchange cap
-
I think Oliver is going to miss out, simply because of the role he plays puts him up against some very good players, but gee he shows good signs
-
I really liked the change of attitude, it's not about sticking with opposition any more, it's about attacking them, and it starts at the contest.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
Ted Lasso replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
He is a great combination of inside-outside, has pace and can finish off but is also tough at the contest and hates losing. -
Pre-match thread: NAB Challenge Game 1 - Port Adelaide v Melbourne
Ted Lasso replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
I want to see a win, we are well past the point of being happy with a "good effort" This is a strong MFC side, no excuses -
Pretty important decision, i reckon he is well within his rights to not be certain.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Ted Lasso replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
seen both play, granted not at AFL level but the doubts I had on Oliver have been settled in my mind, so I have no reason to think it wasn't the right call. -
Who will form our leadership group in 2016?
Ted Lasso replied to UltimateDemon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon there is a huge chance Vince is vice captain this year. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER

Really excited to see Clayton get a run, very happy to eat some humble pie and admit i think we made the right call choosing him over Parish. -
they have their hands full with Hooker and Macarthey

The situation isn't anything like Howe last year, Jesse has been in talks for a while now and to the point numbers and years are a part of it, he's been shown a vision of the future, i am firmly of the belief, Jesse has an offer on the table and he and his manager simply want to see improvement before he signs away the next 5-7 years of his career, which is absolutely fair enough just watch him train and you'll see he's totally invested in the club, he wants to be part of it. Putting talks on hold is simply to quiet the speculation of Jesse signing in the very near future so he can make a calm and calculated decision in his own time, but i have no doubt he will sign on.

I actually thought Newton loooked pretty good in the small forward role

To the ears of the football gods ...

Absolute rubbish on all counts, John Ralph has lost all credibility over the Essendon saga, he is trying to create news out of thin air now. -

Ted Lasso replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not really relevant to anything but i find it interesting that we are a chance of moving on a couple of blokes who not so long ago finished 3rd and 4th in our B&F as well as potentially two former co-captains and a bloke we paid way overs to get and a former number 1 draft pick, and it wouldn't really hurt our best 22 in any huge way to do so. I am hopefully on a few of these guys, Trengove in particular but it's an interesting situation -
I think both Vince and Jones will play a role and rotate through the middle, the interchange cap is going to cause this, but i'd still say we are going to rely pretty heavily on both to do the heavy lifting in the engine room, granted Tyson and Viney are getting pretty close to matching them now.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Ted Lasso replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
No they didn't, at all.. O'Rourke was expected to go to Richmond at around pick 9 and Plowman no early then six but potentially outside the top 10, they simply wanted to keep mates together to avoid the go home factor Imagine if they had Whitfield, Wines and Stringer with those three picks now. -

Re-sign long term Mcdonald Kent Tyson Garlett Short term Trengove Watts Grimes Jetta Frost Omac Hunt Harmes Newton Vince I believe has a part of his contract that gives him next year as well if he plays enough games which he has easily covered i'd say, but another couple of years on the end isn't something i'd object to Dawes and Pedo I can't see as offering any more then covering Weiderman until he is ready so I'd only keep one and I think it'd be Pederson given Dawes injuries and average performance -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
Ted Lasso replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon Jake's ban is going to push Salem's move to the midfield back an extra year. -

The Giants recruiting imo has been every bit as bad as MFC or Carlton, SOS is talked about as some recruiting genius but if you look over the players he has picked, a lot haven't come on at all or have been traded and the % of successful choices for top 20 selections is so low it's scary. Especially when you consider a lot of those picks like Boyd and Whitfield were seen as obvious choices, so basically all others have failed
