Angus Brayshaw's knee injury (minor strain - 4 weeks)
Ted Lasso replied to Wealthy bigpennies's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't often agree with Eddie, but i do like the idea of the NAB challenge winner gaining a bonus of some kind, i wouldn't go as far as a guaranteed finals spot, but maybe 8 premiership points, that could be the difference between 4th and 5th or 9th and 8th, definitely some incentive to take it a little more seriously. -
Saturday talking point: More attacking footy
Ted Lasso replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's what happened at the Bulldogs, Macca taught them good defensive structures and contested ball, the back bone of being a team that can perform in finals and now they're adding the attacking layer to it and they look fantastic Roosy taught the players the found ation of good footy so now goodwin is adding the layers, The thing about the ball movement that excited me the most was that for the first time in maybe 10 years, our players were running forward to dangerous spots, so the ball carrier could turn and kick right away and know either someone was going to be there or Jesse would create a strong contest. -
These are the games we have to win and win well if we are going to play finals, no excuses, we should beat this mob by 10 goals
-
GWS are so quick if they are allowed any time and space, but i am really confident if we bring the same pressure as we did against port that we can stop that game and make it a bit of a grinding contested game, which suits us and i think leads to a good dees win to start the season, Then hopefully we come out and belt Essendon, Hogan and Jeffy to kick five plus each
-
Sore back apparently, nothing serious, club isn't concerned and did a scan to be sure but they are taking no risks with it, did the same thing a few times last year, if he feels pain, he rests just to make sure he doesn't have any more issues.
-
Unfortunately facts aren't things reporters rely on, even a quarter of a story is enough for them.
-
Lol.. Hawthorn and Collingwood are bigger threats to us keeping Hogan, he won't go back to Perth imo
-
Jesse could win the coleman this year, our midfield looks much deeper, big max is looking at a podium finish in terms of the comps ruckman and the entries should be much better, and i don't believe there is a defender in the comp who could consistently beat Jesse one on one already.
-
Doesn't seem to understand that we fought back and gained a strong lead before that would have become any factor, and given the age of the side compared to there's i think if anything it makes it more impressive we were able to get into a winning position before the last quarter

Who would you most want to play against in a Grand Final?
Ted Lasso replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
I suspect when we are up around the mark the Giants, dogs and Saints might be the other challengers -
I still believe firmly it's just his manager making sure he doesn't rush anything, by all accounts Jesse loves the club and is loyal to it, but his manager is just saying, settle down and see how this year plays out, 10 wins or more i think will see Jesse sign on before the start of 2017, ultimately i think he's ours to lose though

Christian Petracca's toe injury (in full training)
Ted Lasso replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Petracca when he has trained has looked fantastic, i have absolutely no doubts he's in our best 22 so i'd be a little surprised if he came through the VFL Trengove i expect no risks, i reckon round 6 is a good aim, i'd want to see a few good VFL hitouts and him force his way into the side. -

Any chance he sneaks in a NAB game? or round 1 more likely? -
It's the lower teams, Carlton, Essendon and Brisbane for sure are the teams we expect to beat and we have a habit of losing to those sides, if we beat carlton and essendon last year we could have had a ten win season
-
Would say Brayshaw is now in doubt, Garland Dunn Jetta Salem Mcdonald Lumumba Vince Viney Kent Kennedy Pederson Vandenberg Garlett Hogan Watts Gawn Jones Tyson Bugg, Petracca, Harmes, Frost

Angus Brayshaw's knee injury (minor strain - 4 weeks)
Ted Lasso replied to Wealthy bigpennies's topic in Melbourne Demons
agreed, it was an extremely dangerous tackle, and Brayshaw is lucky he didn't get far more seriously injured, i am baffled that it wasn't looked at, especially after Oliver's was -
Angus Brayshaw's knee injury (minor strain - 4 weeks)
Ted Lasso replied to Wealthy bigpennies's topic in Melbourne Demons
thank god for that, hopefully he comes up for round 1 but i'd assume they won't be risking anything -
To be fair Ron, he's also been found guilty of being a drug cheat. i reckon it's fair enough to be bitter about what Essendon has done, and probably isn't a label that's going to wash off those players in a hurry

Angus Brayshaw's knee injury (minor strain - 4 weeks)
Ted Lasso replied to Wealthy bigpennies's topic in Melbourne Demons
Players should know better then to get injured, it's bad for our blood pressure. -
Hulett and Omac i'd say are going to be chasing that spot,

and Mark Neeld re-appointed -
Granted losing Pav and Sandilands is going to free up some money.
-
And they're going to get Mcarthey as well
-
I'd play Garland as the high half forward and get him leading right up the ground and Keep Watts closer to goal, i thnk aside from Jesse and Jeff he is the next most likely to kick a bag of 3-4 goals and really make a difference, his strength is his speed and finishing so i think he is at his most dangerous inside 50 leading at the ball carrier and using his speed to get a break on his opponent.
-
Agreed, I'd be really keen personally on throwing Garland forward, Frost back and letting Dunn be the third tall defender, but that's just my opinion ( not that it fixes the kicking out of the backline, i just think Frost is a better defender than forward and Garland could easily play a strong role up forward
