Hogan, Bradshaw, stretch, hunt should all be emerging leaders this year. I agree with with most that jack Viney is our next captain, but I reckon billy stretch is a good enough character or leader to do the job and be a long term member of our leadership groups when you look at his training habits, desire to learn and willingness to play to his role and the game plan over individual glory. A coaches dream

Straight swap Garland for Lewis, vince is definitely a leader and one of our more experienced. N.jones captain j.viney vice captain leaders: t mac, Lewis, vince, Gawn

RECRUITS WHO WILL HAVE THE MOST IMPACT IN 2017
Ted Lasso replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Off field Jordan lewis on field I reckon hibberd will be extremely handy for us -
I think if you look at guys like Buckley, hird and voss as great players who became senior coaches, Goodwin has far more experience as an assistant coach than all three combined and at multiple clubs. Been involved with several premiership senior coaches as well so I am very excited to see how we go this season.

absolute freak! Won an all Australian as a forward, a mid and As a half back.
-
Agreed, they rely to much on older guys and I am not sure they have the same depth of talent coming through as a lot of the other teams down in the bottom 8, which is a concern considering they're running into teams like giants, suns, dogs and us who are loaded with top end young talent
-
Giants the best side by a mile, dogs, swans and cats should round out the tonight 4 hawks, crows, dees saints round out the top 8 port to seriously struggle, as will pies and tigers so three sacked coaches.

SEN 2017 AFL PREVIEW: MELBOURNE’S BEST 22

I reckon to win a flag you need a good 35. Every side will have injuries and so on so depth wins flags -

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Ted Lasso replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Media is his only chance, in my humble opinion -
IMO first half of 2016 dom wouldn't be in the giants best 22 but second half he was at his best and imo he'd be in their best 22 fairly comfortably. I still think in 5 years time dom is a good chance to be the best mid out of our young crop, if he plays at his best for a whole season in 17 he will win the bluey imo

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Ted Lasso replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
As someone who has been through mental illness to a fairly serious degree I am absolutely sympathetic for what James hird is going through, part of me wishes the media would leave him alone, he's missed a year, paid his fines and will never work in the sport he loves again so while I've personally lost respect for him as a football person for his actions I wish him well with his health. -

I understand the need to leave James alone and that I don't have all the information but geez his old man didn't need to say anything did he? Just kept him in the media for another couple of weeks. -

Shame about dome knee! Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery, fortunately this may mean someone like petracca gets some midfield minutes. One solider down another comes up. -
I think jacks amazing aerobic capacity does help but the way I see it jack is an inside mid fighting against jones, Viney, Lewis, Tyson, brayshaw and Oliver for a spot so he will struggle unless he finds a way to play an outside role without that speed
-
The hawks had the bonus of recruiting well, developing the players well and clearly felt kokoda contributes to that. When a highly successful organisation does something consistently and has success on the board to back it up, who can question its value, even if it's only 1% of the reason.
-
Laying down the challenge, if he is good enough he can win his spot back but it won't be easy
-
I think our backline now has some serious offensive power about it now, frost can run and carry, Salem and Hibbo are beautiful kicks who can set up the play and nev and vince are just good players so I think we are in a position where other teams will struggle to stop all of those players. But I agree hunt will be a huge focus of teams because he is such a game breaker, he creates quality scoring opportunities out of thin air

Jetta. Tmac. Frost vince. Omac. Hibbard hunt. Tyson. Stretch petracca hogan. Kent watts. Weideman. Garlett gawn. Viney. Jones Lewis. Brayshaw.salem Oliver

I think his point is that they continue to do it so rightly or wrongly they believe it works and they have premierships to back up the idea that what they are doing is working. They do almost everything extremely well and that tells me that they know what they are doing and they wouldn't do this training if they didn't feel it could be beneficial to them.

I reckon dean Kent has been building nicely, 25 goals last year and might be a chance to kick 30-35 goals in 2017
