WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON

I don't see what need he fills, i don't think he's a key forward, maybe on the wing but i will watch with interest to see if they have a role in mind of if it's just recruiting for the sake of it.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON

where would we be intending to play him? i reckon he'd make a good high half forward, lead up and provide that link inside the forward 50

Welcome to Demonland - Alan Richardson

Maccas role included a component of list management, he was one of the ones directly involved there, i wonder if with his exit Richo steps straight into that role and looks at the list, or if we have someone else in mind from within to step up, i would say we'll have 2-3 other assistants to come in replacing Jennings and Rawlings so far so it'll be interesting to see where it all ends up. Richo to me strikes me as someone who learned what it takes to be a successful coach when it was all too late for him at St Kilda so i suspect that experience will be huge for Goodwin, and hopefully preventing a similar sort of end to his coaching career.

		Rawlings Leaves

I'm not sure about under Roos. but i've heard Peter Jackson and Jordan Lewis were both at stages concerned about it. as was Macca. but ultimately when we're making finals and in a prelim it doesn't seem like as big an issue as when we're 17th. there was stuff about this flying around at the time of the pre season camp drama, so it's been going on a while, but i think this season has really made a few people show their true selves a little bit.

		Rawlings Leaves

Yep. i've heard he's got a lot of people offside just being incredibly stubborn, unable to take critisism and unwilling to change. it's players, assistants, staff. Buckley and Hardwick were similar but they changed. Goodwin either needs to change or go in my opinion because we can't lose good football people over this in my view,

		Rawlings Leaves

I've heard very similar. it's his way or the highway. and some he's getting a few players offside as well. Sadly if half the stuff flying around is true we may need to make that decision soon.

		Ben King

We are mad if we don't dangle pick 3 under their nose for King.

		Petracca on the Move?

If we took that deal we might as well fold the club.

		GWS Surplus

I'd do 11, 13 and finlayson right now.

		Trade Tom McDonald Thread

Hahahaha lets just bloody trade everyone. hearing we are going to sign jeffy again just so we can trade him

		Rory Laird

More on field leadership and experience, finals experience down back, would release Salem further up the ground which helps as well. certainly worth consideration if the price is right

		Petracca on the Move?

Trac averaged 20 touches and a goal this year, was in the top 5 general forwards in the league, not a bad effort in a team that couldn't score and finished 17. Petracca is a very good AFL player with the potential to make the jump to being a superstar and it's not far off. I wouldn't be trading him under any circumstances.

		Adem Yze - Assistant Coach?

This is the strangest whisper because everyone has heard it but no one seems to be able to confirm it. For what it's worth i hope it's true. a bit of red and blue is a good thing, he's a super smart guy and a few years of Hawks knowledge to pass on won't hurt either.

		Shaun Higgins

He's a beautiful kick, doesn't rely on speed, i'd be comfortable offering him 3 years, we need the experience and his kicking would be very handy.

		Splitting Draft Pick 3

It's always a tricky one to work out, you're really weighing up one player vs 2-3 but is that one likely to be a star. guys like Ash, Serong and Young i think will be very good players, but i'm not sure if they're future superstars we may get someone like Kemp to slide through to pick 11 given his injury, so realistically we're weighing up Lachie Ash potentially who i think is the best player outside of the top 2 in the draft and very much what we need. and a combination of Dylan Stephens - very good outside midfielder, reminds me a bit of Polec - SA lad so Port may be keen the pick before. Cody Weightman - talented but raw small forward who can do some pretty incredible things at times, and fills a need and someone like Jye Caldwell or Ian Hill potentially. guys like Flanders won't be there at those picks of the Giants so a few of the players that would really appeal are likely to be gone. In conclusion, i would be reasonably comfortable either way though splitting the pick gives us the chance to add two very talented outside mids (i prefer Ian Hill from the Giants as steak knives) and a very talented small forward, or keeping it and grabbing someone like Lachie Ash gives us a talented outside midfielder to complement Ed Langdon on the opposite wing and add to the core of top end talent we have.

God if only we could be like that on and off the field.

		Trade Jack Viney Thread

If it were up to me i would strip jack of the captaincy and let him focus on becoming the best player he can be, and ask him to play on the oppositions best player each week and keep them accountable around stoppage, almost be a defensive specialist in the midfield rotation.

		Trade Jack Viney Thread

I have it on good authority wise that David Teague has changed his mind about the Blues job and will be joining us as a development coach.

I've heard a whisper that Goodwin favors Max Gawn so we better trade him to get some value.

		Splitting Draft Pick 3

really like Caldwell. would happily do 11, 13 and Caldwell for 3 even Bobby Hill looks a good player.

What should our midfield set-up be next season?

My issue with Viney is he actually upsets the midfield set up quite a bit, some mids make the guys around them better, Viney has the opposite effect. he attacks the ball hard but other than that and a burst of speed doesn't offer much. at least up forward he could chase and tackle and pressure. our midfield mix looks so much better when it's Brayshaw, Oliver and Harmes, and Petracca rotating through.

What should our midfield set-up be next season?

I'd go with assuming a few trades and stuff Neville Jetta Steven May Jake Lever Michael Hibberd Sam Frost Christian Salem Ed Langdon Clayton oliver Issac Smith Jake Melksham Tom McDonald James Harmes Bailey Fritsch Sam Weideman Jack Viney Max Gawn Christian Petracca Angus Brayshaw Nathan Jones, Lachie Ash, Karl Amon, Aaron Vandenberg

Welcome to Demonland - Alan Richardson

He's actually got a great record as an assistant coach and is incredibly highly rated which is why the moment he had more offers than he knew what to do with. some people just aren't meant to be senior coaches, but we're extremely lucky to have someone with his football brain and experience at the club, and i have more confidence knowing he's there.

		Lachie Whitfield

Nope. if we tried it he'd be lining up for another team. he was never staying there.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread

I can't believe we're seriously arguing Jake Levers quality as a player. he was one of the best intercept defenders in his first two years, something not many players do, he's got all the attributes to be a future AFL captain and a champion of the club and he's coming off a serious injury. He and Steven May with a full pre season are going to play some great footy next year an make a lot of doubters eat their words in my opinion. FWIW i think he played well in the 2017 grand final and was one of the few players from the crows who could hold his head high, a very good effort considering the crows were treating him like rubbish and he was heading tot he exit.
