  1. what a joke! In my opinion he is very composed with the ball and he is one of the best kicks on our list. Georgiou hasn't even played a game yet! What part of his game is "dumb" ? He snapped his leg in half a couple of years ago, which has often been a career ending injury and he is still a young defender. I love the way he plays and I hope he is a regular this year.
  2. I don't think spencer will ever be a premiership winning ruckman. Gawn needs to start showing what he can do, at the moment I have no idea what he is capable of and so we shouldn't assume he will be the answer. Fitzpatrick will never be a no1 ruck man, perhaps a forward ruck. We need Jamar to find form again, and if Gawn doesn't have a good year I suggest looking for a seasoned ruckman in the draft period. I'm not a fan of drafting 18 year old rucks, takes too long for them to develop. If Gawn fails this year we start searching.
  3. Hopefully freedom to play his natural way, instead of playing certain roles for the team.
  4. Interesting that we only managed 40 inside 50s against Richmond......
  5. should be healthy competition for the small defender/half back with Strauss, Terlich and Clisby
  6. Noticeable changes to game plan, using the corridor, from our defensive 50 moving the ball into the corridor or diagonally across the center square from defensive 50 to attacking 50. Also at stoppages when one of our players gets the ball under intense pressure, instead of ducking and weaving, without taking a step just getting the ball to foot with a high 35-40m kick giving our players up the ground a chance. Simple footy, last year I watched the opposition do this to us so often, but when we were in that situation we always tried to duck or go sideways which resulted in being tackled or skill errors, now it's a simple standing kick up the ground. Smart.
  7. I thought he was our best player, he covered a lot of ground and was involved at the stoppages. He looked fit like he could run all day, great to see him enjoying his footy, I thought he worked well with Cross, Michie and Crossy. Without Vince I think we would of lacked run. His experience really showed, his disposal was good. I don't remember seeing him play like that for a long time. Great start to the year.
  8. I thought he played well, his inside work was ok, but his tackling was excellent and others could learn from his technique, goes hard at the hips. He stepped up in the final minutes of the game and I would definitely play him round 1. Pretty stoked to have him at Melbourne, should have a good year. And let's not forget he hasn't really played much AFL but he didn't look out of place. Just the sort of player we need to help Viney, and Tyson, and allow Jones and Trengove to play more outside roles and rack up the possessions.
  9. Great to see Daniel Cross putting his head over the ball, racking up possessions and providing structure and experience out on the field. It is obvious he is not going to waste his time at Melbourne and I am loving his no nonsense approach to it. It is nice to see a midfield working as a unit.

And the coach must have the players to work with, so that's not Neeld's fault either....but he did suck!
  11. Lucky we have a good coach to deal with that problem.
  12. Reminds me of St Kilda's Justin Koschitzke but less coordinated it will be so interesting to see what Roos does with him and how he is used....
  13. Nothing against Fitzpatrick, he had a decent crack last year, wasn't outstanding. But how all the sudden have the majority formed the opinion that he is in our best 22? I think he will struggle for a game in 2014 if we have Clark, Hogan, Dawes, Howe and Watts as our forwards....he is still a work in progress and a unique player, but I don't see him in our starting 22!
  14. Fitzpatrick.....? Sure he had a decent crack last year, wasn't outstanding. He is not a key forward yet.
  15. Exactly, it was that simple for me and my better half that the result of one game decided whether we bought memberships. Also, last year I stopped going to my local to watch Melbourne games on pay TV, especially with Viney and Clark out I lost interest. However, we have signed up simply because of the excitement of Hogan, Toumpas, Salem, Viney, Trengove. EtcI love the dedicated members, my old man is one. Gives a lot of money to the club and has been a member for ever, I hope the dees can do it for him and others like him, but anyone who accepts 5 wins in 2014 is kidding the self, that is not even 1 win a month......................
  16. Round 1 vs Port Adelaide 79 points, biggest joke I have ever sat through considering all the build up over the pre season, I respect the dedicated who have been members through the tough times, but for myself and wife we couldn't sign after that. Reasonable?
  17. Still a long way to go......

Just listened to Peter Jackson's speech...I could listen to him all day. Just hope it all works.
  19. Give everyone a taste of AFL, Kent had a good NAB cup last year and followed it up with a solid season, it's a good chance for some of the boys to gain some confidence. But I see the NAB cup as being useful for individuals not so much for team. I would still like the boys to get a win and at least play with some structure. Don't risk Clark or Dawes etc there would be nothing worse then to loose a big player to the stupid nab cub.
  20. i am, but haven't been in the past round 1 against Port last year really stopped me from buying a membership, and I guarantee that I was not the only one.
  21. Losing the first six games of 2012 had absolutely nothing to do with Clark, I recall him in pretty much every one of those games picking the ball up from his toes at full pace and snapping goals, his set shots were a standout especially his accuracy from tough angles and he was charging into packs and sitting on blokes heads. He is vital to us. Personally I don care if he doesn't return until later in the season, as long as he is right, the boys need his fearless attitude out there.
  22. F$k cars....talking about footy here or what?
  23. We need him, he is the most important player on our list. And a match winner.
