Actually they are all midfielders, so they can be compared in that respect, especially as Michie is an Inside midfielder, same as Viney. I don't think he has ever been known as a Half forward...........!Ideally, we want N Jones, Tyson, Vince, Cross, Michie, Viney, Trengove and Watts all playing, some good talent there and all apart from Viney have have had great pre-seasons so far from all reports. These guys are not competing for positions, if they are fit they play, put Vince, Cross, Trengove, Watts at half forward or half back and rotate them through the middle.

Perhaps I represent the point of view of a person who has a tighter budget than others, on a Saturday night when we win I don't want to be thinking about my bank balance. I don't like the idea of it.

If we win 5 games for the year....The club wouldn't make much money from the scheme (5x30$) and the supporters will still be disappointed with the teams efforts, it's so hard to predict how many games we will win in 2014. For example, just say I have roughly 300$ to give to the club and I expect and pledge 10wins x 30$, if we win 15 games I'm giving 150$ which I can't afford, or if we win 2 games = 60$ then the club is missing out on money potentially. I know we can donate the money in other ways. It's a win win if the club plays well, but if we have another bad year....this fundraiser could be useless. There must be a better way to get people to give money to the club, especially considering our lack of wins in recent years, winning should be regular and something we expect and become used to, that's why people sign up for memberships. We have been starved of wins for years. What about for donations (minimum say 100$) go in the draw for a signed Jack Trengove guernsey and a pair of his playing boots...?

Georgiou has played 1 NAB challenge game against a very poor Richmond team. I don't think we have really seen enough of Georgiou to place him ahead of any other defender on our list just yet, especially one of Strauss' quality.

How about this.....wait....I have a better idea......Instead of a pledge for every win 20$ 10wins =200$... IF MELBOURNE PLAY FINALS IN 2014 I PLEDGE TO GIVE THE CLUB 200$. Then it goes back to the players and coaching staff.

Exactly why 12,000 members have walked away over the past 2 years and why many more have stopped attending games and have lost interest in the club.

I think it is quite clever also and agree with what you have said and I would be happy to join this next year in 2015 following a solid 10 wins in 2014, but coming off a 2 win season. Some supporters want to see change before we go giving our hard earned away.

I would prefer all the ruck men I have named above over Spencer at the moment, remembering Spencer is still relatively young. Sure he can compete, but it would be great if he could impact the game a bit more, I wish him all the best and hope his skills and awareness improve as the years go by. He has been on our list for about 5 years now so it would be a waste not to stick with him and keep developing him.

interesting considering we had 450 disposals only to manage 40 inside 50's, however it was only the NAB challenge and we will wait for the real season to see if those inside 50 stats improve. Maybe because we didn't have the talks down forward we took a more indirect approach to he goals. With Dawes, Hogan and Clark demanding the ball inside 50 I think our inside 50's would of been up closer to 55. I think your stats from last year showed we need approximately 100 points per game and 55 inside 50's to be anywhere near looking like a finals team.

Or Hawthorn(Mcevoy/Hale/Roughead)Or Richmond (Maric/Hampson) Or Carlton (Kruezer/Warnock) Or Essendon (Bellchambers/Ryder) Or GWS (Giles/Mumford) And so many others... There is a big question mark over Spencer, what I like to have in a ruckman is the ability to push forward for 15% or their game time. I think both Jamar and Gawn have the ability to play forward. Ideally we want either Jamar or Gawn to play 80% of their game time in the ruck and push forward late in quarters to try and take a grab or sneak a goal! this would mean Mitch Clark playing 20 of his game time in the ruck. Our best combination is Jamar or Gawn with Clark. Clark is so important to the structure of our side.

I have an idea, how about we pledge to give 25 or 50 $ per win. And the club pledge to give us 25 or 50$ per loss??

And is there anyone who thinks 5 wins for the MFC in 2014 is acceptable? That's roughly 10 wins in 3 seasons. 5 wins only and MFC loose 2 members in me and my wife.

Michie should easily be getting a game before Salem round 1 and Blease.

Yeah he has been harshly marked by many, but that turn over was just ridiculous lucky it was only the nab cup and we went onto win the game, had it been a real game I don't think we would be that forgiving. It might be worth noting that Ivan Maric was out of the game who is Richmonds no1 ruckman, so really Spencer should have dominated a bit more than what he did. I'm not a fan of his as a footballer, I love his effort and attitude, but his skills are Casey standard.
