Free agency was introduced for players like Houston. If you take the long term dollars don't expect clubs to come bailing you out with multiple first rounders. We'd be suckers to pay two first rounders for an ageing player Lynch to Richmond and MacKay to Essendon should be the model.

I don't think we can afford to invest too much more in the window at the expense of the future. Dollar investment maybe but we need quality youngsters via the draft. For 28 year olds that is what the free agency is all about. Houston chose to sign long term so I have little sympathy.
