  1. Mihocek is their Fritsch. An under rated player by most but usually good for a couple of goals. Ignore him at your peril
  2. IF... Petty goes and Jefferson doesn't come on we may have little choice. Dogs to pay 40% of salary or similar may be worth looking at if no one else is around Not a tempting outlook though
  3. Have you watched Casey recently. Tomlinson probably gets slower each week
  4. Not the worst of ideas. If Windsor could hold a position at half back he could be a real rebounding weapon. On the other hand that's one less player delivering quality ball into the forward line
  5. Looks like the salary cap issue is close to being resolved. Not the greatest result for us but it could have been worse AFL clubs will be able to exclude from the salary cap a larger percentage of the wage of a player medically retired due to concussion in the initial years following their retirement than they would be in any later years of an outstanding contract under the soon-to-be-finalised “Brayshaw Ruling”. It means long-term contracts that extend beyond five years could carry greater risks for clubs if they lose a player to concussion early on in their deal..... One club boss, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak freely, suggested the ruling could mean a high percentage of the payments due in the first year or two after a player’s retirement sits outside the cap, then 50 per cent is included in years three and four, and then a greater percentage after the fourth season. This would mean clubs signing players to long contracts would need to consider the risk of concussion in their dealings with player managers, just as they may if there was a history of other injuries. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/there-s-salary-cap-relief-in-brayshaw-ruling-but-more-risk-attached-to-long-term-deals-20240424-p5fm7h.html
  6. Fritsch has very similar goal numbers to Mihocek. (Fritsch slightly better by a few goals) Both players are perhaps not really given credit for their consistency
  7. If Fullarton was to be trialled the opportunity was last night. Funnily enough you may see Verral as the second ruck based on Casey performance
  8. We have almost zero midfield these days at Casey so it's not exactly a place for a forward to regain form. We also have a number of competing NQR forwards at Casey. (Fullarton, Jefferson BBB) plus McAdam who's going ok. If you really insist that he go to Casey he'd be better at CHB from a practice viewpoint
  9. It's time to see these games through the red and blue glasses. Even so they are hard to select. Geelong v Carlton (a draw perhaps and if not a thrashing of Geelong) Giants v Lions... I'm going for GWS in hope that Lions remain in the 9-12 group Freo v Dogs... Dogs please which should send Freo into a crisis of confidence Port v Saints ... Port which will end the Saints season The others I am less concerned about. Unfortunately someone has to win between Bombers and Pies
  10. Marty Hore didn't have a great game at Casey (very few did). The Casey turnovers were on another level of incompetence. Forward delivery was usually high up and unders to packs. BBB was comprehensively beaten one on one. McAdam showed glimpses but obviously needs more match fitness. Fullarton and Verral had passable games but their ruckwork was non existent. Funnily enough we were quite good at sharking the Richmond hit out but would often just fumble or handball to an opposition player who would clear the ball. In short I have no idea who you can bring in
  11. Only within the context of Goodwin's overall plan. He would be allowed to tinker but the game plan and the playing method is pre-set. This year we chip it around and take on the corridor occasionally. Last two years it has been mainly a boundary game. It mirrors the senior team. It was worse when the VFL team was unaligned such as we had with Sandringham. Our players were often played in positions or in ways that ran contrary to the needs of the MFC AFL team. Juice Newton and Sauntner was the classic dilemna
  12. Other than 2021 finals we've always been boring bar the occasional quarter
  13. Looks like the fire burnt itself out rather quickly
  14. Hope so It's been rather lukewarm so far
  15. What has happened to our AA midfield
  16. Come on Dees we're supposed to be a top 4 team
  17. but who is the coach if the match day co-ordinator has minimal input into game plan and selection. The reality is that the result does not matter nearly as much as the individual output. Southport for example is a strong team in this competition but few if any of its players have a chance at making an AFL team
  18. Definitely It did none of them any good... and add in Fullarton
  19. Considering the number of AFL listed players we had that wasn't a great performance. Some cameos but... McAdam showed ability but in a perfect world I'd like to see a full game
  20. And that's it Skill session needed. So many turnovers
  21. Another rubbish kick into our forward 50
  22. I think they also park the tractor in there
  23. Not sure why in the scheme of things we're playing bbb
  24. It is hard to find a stand out. Game by Casey is either chip it around or play through congestion often with a turnover. Very few periods of open play
