So you're thinking we should throw in a few dairy heifers? Like it Jersey or Frisian?

Would like to think we could do a reverse Luke Jackson for Reid end of 2027. My guess is that some Melbourne club will make the mega offer. He could be the first $2M a year player. If he lives up to the hype he'll easily command 6 x $1.6+ in 2027
  4. the unwarranted or delusional belief that one is being persecuted, harassed, or betrayed by others, occurring as part of a mental condition. Ah but we are not paranoid because....the belief that one is being persecuted, harassed, or betrayed by others, occurring as part of a mental condition. is totally warranted when one follows the MFC

Listening to the radio this morning they reported on a Womens Big Bash game played last night at Casey Fields. Is that "our" Casey fields? I assumed we no longer had the cricket pitch issues. Hard centre square area etc

Missed the news but what is meant by "Round Zero"?

Why would they push back. Playing an away game at your home ground is something most clubs wouldn't complain about. AFL should squash it themselves as they need to make Docklands profitable

Now that they can seat 40k there's no reason for the big clubs to avoid the ground. Frankly I expect that GFC will want a few mega home games simply because the local crowd will demand it. Their problem is making big money at the MCG where they play 3 games. Conservatively they need 70k plus at the MCG to match the revenue they receive from 40k at Kardinia Park. The simple answer is drop the MCG. Not stupid in that given how much taxpayers have spent on Geelong it should be fully utilised

Timing appears not to be our strong suit. Dominate the competition before television. Membership and revenue compromised by having a sizable percentage of supporters as MCC members Win a premiership while your membership is locked in their homes with a curfew. Trying to get interest in a training ground when the days of the big build and low interest rates are well behind us. Perhaps we can ride the AI wave to glory because there aren't too many other surf breaks on the horizon
  10. That could well be the reason imo The continuation of Brown TMac Schache and Melksham on the list perplexes me but I assume it is all about salary cap and list management for the end of 2024 draft and trade period. I'll be surprised if any of them play a meaningful number of games at senior level in 2024. It could be as simple as using TMac Melksham and Brown in coaching/club support roles and paying them from the salary cap as opposed to reducing the soft cap by paying others as coaches in their stead
  11. I guess we are working on the other side thinking.... they wouldn't be stupid enough to try that again
  12. No highest home and away team hosts the GF We now have to beat the Lions in Brisbane next week or Crows need to lose
  13. Come on Roos
  14. Looking good for that $1M One quarter to go Saints 31... Lions 10
  15. Getting badly beaten at centre bounces. Luckily Freo cannot take advantage of their dominance
  16. And they get one of the hardest !!
  17. A difficult watch his game
  18. Hadn't realised that the Swans had played many of their games at North Sydney Oval. Has to be the most beautiful ground in Australia by miles. Unfortunately this weekends match is at Henson Park in Marrickville. While well located it doesn't have the drop dead surroundings of North Sydney Oval. Apparently Swans hold the cumulative attendance record this season. Good article about marketing your product. Quince paste and hand-picked grapes have played a part in helping the Sydney Swans launch themselves to the top of the AFLW attendance charts, less than two years after their first match in the women’s league. The Swans play their final home match of the regular season this weekend with an average attendance of 4,365 from four games so far – 124 more than the next best club Adelaide – and a marquee pride match against Collingwood at Henson Park to come on Sunday where a crowd in excess of 4,000 is expected. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/oct/27/craft-beer-and-cheese-boxes-swans-tap-in-something-uniquely-sydney-to-draw-aflw-crowds PS: Williamstown would make a great venue
  19. Agree with the sentiment but Punt Road is the pits as a spectator. The space between the oval and the external fence is barely five metres in most parts of the ground. Coburg is a lovely ground for around 6k as is Port Melbourne. (Suspect they are given over to cricket at this time of year)
  20. My feeling is we'll drop off and finish 5-8. Hope I'm wrong

North lease the ground at Arden Street. The problem is if you sink club money into the facilities and more importantly how much. Hard to sell a grandstand on leased land. The problem of grandstands etc may limit the use of Caulfield as a match day venue for AFLW etc. Assuming the race club wants to protect line of sight views of the back straight for punters.
  22. I was way off.... Elizabeth Taylor, Clark Gable Richard Harris... the list of actors/songs/musicians went on but I couldn't find a Bonner And who can forget I love Jennifer Eccles Thanks for exercising the old mind Demonstone
  23. I think we had best enjoy this season. My guess is that during the off season there might be several transfers encouraged by the AFL. The skill gap between the teams is simply too large. Time might rectify it but we all know how the AFL loves to meddle
  24. Agree... no over the top hype .. just simple knowledgeable commentary. The TV broadcast could have done with better crowd noise but perhaps it's difficult to position the effects microphone given the stadium to crowd ratio. I think it's time the AFL spent a little money on advertising the essentials of these games. Location, price of entry, family experience etc. Also needs marketing to neutrals. Enjoyment. As an aside not happy to see minor punch ups and push and shove coming into the game. Not a good look. Just because the blokes like it isn't a good reason to follow. (That style should be dying)
  25. Good win North had our measure in the first quarter but after that. I thought we were going to get outmuscled like the Adelaide game but I was so wrong
