They've added in a chance of hail on Thursday in the Bom forecast just issued

Had some decent games this year. First half of next season should give a better base for assessment. One concern is that Casey as a team have probably peaked and we will see turnover both of older AFL and VFL players next season. If this occurs how do you assess a forward when the ball is not getting down there. Perhaps some time down back?

Spargo is firming as a possible selection in place of TMac in my opinion. (assuming wet/greasy conditions) Looking windy as well. Not great for our high forward bombs Pity that Schache hasn't come on.

Jayden might have been a chance for a game up forward this coming Thursday but I agree that he did the right thing in his move West

Leaves a bad taste to finish a year like that. I have always liked the VFL comp and have spent many a pleasant afternoon at the old suburban grounds along with the trek to Casey. Hard to keep up the interest if MFC are going to treat the team like this. There's a balance and they missed it by a country mile

Doesn't that just prove what we already knew... Points value doesn't equal the equivalent pick value
-
Unfortunately it has become obvious that the AFL has no interest whatsoever in the VFL as a competition. The introduction of the interstate clubs has been a disaster for the Victorian comp

you can't take 6 AFL players out of a team and expect continuity. Lucky we are so close

Dam wall is breaking it seems ?

bad turnover by Casey and easy goal to the Dogs

Collingwood's ins and outs: IN: Dean, Longmire, Mulvogue OUT: Ashwin, McInnes, Carmichael From the CFC website: The side is littered with AFL listed talent, with Ash Johnson and Nathan Kreuger the spearheads up forward, while Trent Bianco and Trey Ruscoe have been consistent ball-winners across the back half.

Collingwood's VFL side play on the same day. Will be interesting to see their approach

I'm lost by the non inclusions If there was any brand left to damage this has done it Schache out.... Seriously

Was there training today? If so I wonder where it was

Pre the Tigers coming to the MCG we always had the biggest crowds simply because going to the MCG and sitting to watch a game was a very rare experience for the supporters of other clubs. As daisycutter has alluded to it's hard to imagine what comparative "dumps" other grounds were. Remember the MCG had been given a big renovation for the 1956 Olympic Games.

For those attending.... Parking is easily found in the service road that starts at the St Francis Xavier Church. From there it's a 200 metre stroll to the ground. Take a fold up chair or picnic rug. There's a nice grass hill behind the goals and a smaller grassed area on the flank area. Not much space behind the other goal (permanently shaded) or along the Middleborough rd side but if the ground is full it's okay. There's a small grandstand. Catering is standard. With a crowd beyond say 3-4k it would be crowded but miles better than say Punt Rd.

Extrapolating from the August figures for all clubs that puts us 6th or 7th. Of the Melbourne clubs we are 5th and Essendon is within sight... (79k members) Well done * Hawks have not published their figures https://www.sportingnews.com/au/afl/news/membership-numbers-2023-all-time-members-record/fk66mawntzeiuv0l1ivnqeu0

70,000 it is Well done MFC

I don't see how his signing prevents him from being part of a trade. Sure Port have set his $ value and contract length but he can still be traded for Grundy
-
If the small forwards can deliver 5 goals between them we win. The others will do the rest

Congratulations Laura on your appointment. Perhaps some tasks : I'd be reviewing the 4th umpire. I have no idea if it is worth the extra umpire but I'd like a study of some kind done. Friday night games to start at 7:20 please. Hate 3:20 Sunday but it seems to be fixed in stone. And if it's in her remit get WatchAFL into the 21s century (720p for the price is lamentable)

I've mentioned Goldstein before. He won't come cheap but for say $400k you get a good ruck that can give Gawn six odd games off over the season and act as a backup. Give him an assistant coaching role at VFL/AFL level to sweeten the deal. One year only and then recruit for best available as potential number 1 ruck going forward

Agree The North game was unlike any MFC or Casey game you might see. It was played mainly in that area we generally abhore.. The corridor. North had innumerable turnovers (Casey had a few) leading to good forward 50 entries with players (wait for it)... dropping their eyes and delivering to the advantage of the forwards
