  1. don't think I could deal with the Glendinning kick again
  2. Richmond supporters were conditioned all year to believing it was back to back but last night killed that dream. We're nearly there and it's all about grabbing the chance. As the song goes..... "We may never pass this way again" ....... (or at the very least for a fair while).
  3. Playing Collingwood would be a marketers dream. Bring it on
  4. wow .. there are some weird vibes here about playing Collingwood. IF we win today it will give us the opportunity to write history. The bookend theory would do more for this club than any can imagine. It's a marketer's dream. Go West and Conquer young Demons !!!
  5. Isn't that the book that's full of stories about casting out Demons.
  6. Started this thread with the post above. Let's hope the sentiment comes true.
  7. So many said the ? were unbeatable but they have been a one trick pony...called Martin ... and when he doesn't turn up......
  8. Mmmmm We were 32 points up at three quarter time last week and the Hawks got within twelve Can hear the fireworks for the storm win
  9. Do these commentators have any idea of tempo in their commentary. Like a bunch of five year olds who have overindulged on red cordial
  10. let's hope we don't end up like the young beneficiaries in Bleak House. Now to work Camus in for next week. ?
  11. Doesn't add much to what has already been posted but an interesting article in the Age with some good old pictures. One point perhaps worth mentioning was that in the Richmond V Adelaide grand final last year the of the 40k of tickets notionally available to the competing clubs the AFL only issued 32k. This was despite a very large number of Richmond members missing out last year. "Actual ticket allocations fluctuate at the AFL's discretion. For example, club members were allocated 32,000 tickets of a possible 40,000 last year. The AFL will decide on exact numbers closer to the game." https://www.theage.com.au/sport/footy-s-biggest-day-how-the-tickets-are-allocated-20180920-p50518.html
  12. usually take a radio to the footy and tune in now and then for play highlights (after goals) or where there is controversy etc. Last week thought I would reduce the weight of the backpack, go high tech and listen on the phone. Didn't count on the delay of around 30 seconds where the ball would be at one end and they were still commenting on the play from the other end of the ground !! Went and bought a $7 mini transistor at the $2 shop for my next trip to the MCG
  13. I'm having visions of Mrs Haversham in Great Expectations ?
  14. so no nerves when the Hawks were within 12 points and Max kicks it out on the full in their forward line... wow you are a cool customer ?
  15. yep... believe it or not WCE home membership was closed as I understand it. They opened up for another 10k season members when they moved to Optus so I am not sure if they filled all of those. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-10-23/eagles-dockers-perth-stadium-tickets-and-seat-selection/9077128
  16. No doubt that Mason Cox holds the key in the sense that the Pies just seem to lack goal kickers. Was going to run a thread as to who was the better VFA pick up between Brody Mihocek and Bayley Fritsch but the air went out of that balloon.
  17. Priority 1 members are "guaranteed" a seat at an MFC GF. They pay an annual premium year in year out for the privilege. No problem with that but given that the absolute maximum allocation per club (including standing room) is 20K the unknown is how many priority 1 memberships have been sold. We know that other clubs such as Richmond and Bulldogs now have waiting lists for this category whereas MFC was offering this membership level up until a few weeks ago. They are wonderful revenue streams as you dare not drop your membership because you will need to go back via the waiting list. Not dissimilar to the reserved seats sold by Adelaide and West Coast. I suspect we will move to a waiting list next year as people realize that the higher grade memberships are the only way to get a ticket. Talk to Essendon and Collingwood supporters about the hoopla and cost that surrounds Anzac day reservations for another example. Heaven help us if we become subject to the world of dynamic ticket pricing.
  18. mmmm no idea if you are right and that is the nub of the problem. A complete lack of transparency on allocations, add on ticketek/ticketmaster charges and why the ticket price is so high... $400 a ticket is very serious money. Television rights mean we could all go to the ground for nothing week in week out... sure the players would be paid a little less.. but we own the game and deserve some transparency.
  19. jumping forward to the 2019 season it will be an interesting discussion about the best 22. A couple of weeks ago I was tending towards Fritsch replacing Hannan thus allowing a strengthening of the backline. Hannan has had a very strong finals series and has certainly cemented his spot. The back story for Fritsch is so enjoyable it is impossible not to feel down by his non selection. Where to put Lever, Fritsch and Hogan... a fascinating problem.
  20. Interesting Was Fritsch on Gunston? If so that is a good point.
  21. The emergencies would suggest there is nothing in the O Mac being injured rumour going around this morning. If there had been something I think it would have been Dec Kielty on the plane as well.
  22. so today we started with O Mac out and then we moved on to Fritsch out and now we are favouring Tyson out. Ah the joys of a good rumour
