pardon my ignorance... is he an outside or inside mid thanks

The more I think on it the more I am convinced that GCS are desperate to offload May. They are a club that reeks of instability and they cannot afford another year where the story is all about their ex captain leaving. They have had two years of that with Ablett and then Lynch. Plenty of time for this to play out.

and why would any club offer better than pick 11 knowing they get him next year for nothing. The argument runs both ways

great post ? certainly not dominant around the ground 9 contested marks out of 16 games doesn't say much either. Hit outs are consistent around 20 per game but he must struggle against the Pies..11 and 8 He didn't play against Casey which is unfortunate for comparison purposes

You may be right but I think in a straight comparison between what Hogan and May offer in 2019 my preference is Hogan. Happy to trade for value but I just don't see value.

ask yourself would you trade a seven pick upgrade or thereabouts for a player who has been deemed by the bottom club to be surplus to requirements. You can't attribute full value to May anyway given he's available for free next year

one would need to be desperate to pay pick 5 for May... he comes free next year

it's a pick and May which is the deal. The question is what is the pick we are left with. If it's 12 etc then meh... it it's 5 or 6 then good outcome. I'm tending towards the 12 as the left over simply because we are trading into a one team (Freo) scenario whereas GC are trading into a multiple buyer market plus the FA temptation for next year

Definitely no one will give them pick 1-4 for May which is what they get as compo next year. Remember also that the recipient club pays nothing in the form of draft picks next year. It's just a quirk of the system. On the other hand they have a disaffected captain who they don't want hanging around the club. Their choice

Tasting Notes by Billy A Nose: Sweet, rich and spicy fruit, with sugared lemons and limes, granny smith apples, honey and caramel. Palate: Toffee sweetness, apples, a hint of vanilla and a rich dark fruit background. Water lightens things with more orchard fruit, but without diminishing the richness of the dark fruit hiding underneath. Finish: Dusty wood, raisins and sweet fruit leaves Comments: A solid sherried whisky sitting at the bottom of the Glendronach range but punching above well above its price-point. speechless by that florid description

So now with Lycett gone is Vardy the Eagle's back up ruckman to Natanui ?

some good logic there but GCS seem to be sick of May and remember although GCS get a low pick next year the recipient club pay nothing as well. So it's not quite the same. Well argued though

Tyson's worth a mid second rounder so perhaps that's fair Heard on the Tyson thread that Tyson has said no to GC

if 14 gets us May it's a deal. It probably won't so that's where life becomes interesting PS.. sorry where did Freo get pick 6 from?

sounds simple but the low pick is there next year as well. The icing needs to be good to give up a player for a year while we are in the infamous premiership window. The only reason it might make sense is those who say we NEED may for our defence. I'm not sold on that idea.

off topic slightly but re Tim Kelly of Geelong what is the "stand out" period these days. Used to be a year. Not sure if it has been changed. By stand out I mean if you leave or refuse to accept an offer etc how long before you can join another club and do you have to rejoin via the draft etc. cheers

actually one of the leading libel by internet cases in Oz involves a man formerly very much involved with the MFC
