  1. 'tis the journey not the destination that is important... Pro Hart's old gallery in Broken Hill. The Anzac memorial at Albany Margaret River and the dolphins .. to mention a few and of course the differing culinary delights at the highway roadhouses ... not to mention comparing the steak sandwich offerings of the local pubs
  2. yep it's a question of degree... what if a club makes a wild ball offer for Hogan just like the Dogs did for Boyd say. Match it and then lose who in the years to come along with the acrimony that comes with a wage that is way out of kilter. The giving club doesn't get to match and force a trade. It gets the option to match and see if it can get a trade at that price. You can be assured that the paying club will not trade at that price because the absence of a need to trade has been built into the original offered price. The smart thing is to sign him up now or trade him. Gaff is a perfect example of how a club loses out even if the departing player is an RFA let alone an FA.
  3. interesting... worth having a look at his style of play... his first mark involves the use of the leg but only mildly by comparison to the one much later that brought the howl of protest from the Swans player. The commentators applauded the first mark and then debated the later one. Not an easy line to draw.
  4. Here is a thread on Big Footy discussing the pros and cons of putting on a Collingwood sponsored event for local Magpie fans to watch last night's game in Perth. If they can't do it easily not much chance for lesser clubs such as ourselves. https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/holden-centre-hosting-fans-to-watch-the-wce-final-free-event-see-pg-3.1203387/page-2 PS: My favourite post: "Everybody just go visit my parents, I'll send you the address. They have foxtel and are pies mad. Mum's cooking leaves a little to be desired but i'm sure they'll appreciate the company. There is a second fridge in the garage, but if you get desperate just do an ice run and fill the eskies. See you all there! Good time to arrive is about 90 minutes before the first bounce so you can discuss in depth which player is the most handsome at the club (Mums favourite topic). "
  5. thanks profusely but like many I am trying to gauge the worth of booking plane and accomodation etc but only prepared to do so if there is a realistic chance of tickets.
  6. Does anyone have any knowledge of how the ticketing works for an interstate final? Thanks
  7. Seriously contemplating a nice road trip accross the wonderful Nullabor. Time to dust off the trusty Google maps
  8. Should I start crossing the Nullabor now.
  9. Mmmmmm. Perth in two weeks
  10. Good game... you have to admit... it's the most exciting final so far this weekend
  11. It happens when you are a one team town. Go to a soccer international and you'll see far worse
  12. Kennedy and darling ineffective so far. West coast not exactly starring. Sidebottom...so good.... remind me what draft year was he
  13. Starting to see a glimmer of hope as the road moves from a sheep path to a reasonably defined four wheel drive rut. Go Dees
  14. I think Richmond would have their measure.. GWS need space.. Have been to see them play a few sides and if you can crowd them thus stopping the run and give they are susceptible. It's an interesting discussion re this evening's game as to who has the better chance of knocking off Richmond in the Prelim thus giving us the chance at the holy grail.
  15. That was definitely a different Giants side... Glad they are on the other side of the ledger (until the GF of course). Swans were flattered by the scoreboard... probably should have been over at half time like our game should have last night. Now for the battle of the Birds in the West. PS. I can see a new rule at the end of next season about use of the boot to fend off a player... not a good look
  16. GWS playing all over the Swans but not getting any reward. Buddy looking very ordinary
  17. Half time between Richmond and Essendon in the VFL ... 34-27 with Essendon leading
  18. not sure they even have replay rights these days
  19. Should not be overly difficult getting tickets for next week... but a Collingwood v Melbourne preliminary (if it happens) may be a harder task. Should we end up against WCE in a prelim in Perth I have no idea. As an aside have Collingwood done anything special (viewing wise) for their Melbourne fans tonight
  20. Might have been an outside chance if there had been a VFL game today for the potential ins but given otherwise no change. Hard to get a form line on the two teams from the debacle earlier in the season but I think on more recent form we would go in slight favourites. Cannot afford to miss so many easy ones though. Mind you the Cats missed a few as well but nowhere near as many as we did.
  21. Must say that I tend to agree simply because I think WCE can take Richmond out in the preliminary. Long way to go but fingers crossed. The Sydney Derby is strangely irrelevant. Will barrack for the Swans simply because I fear a resurgent GWS as they get their stars back.
  22. 19 degrees and light winds is the present prediction for next Friday. Cannot see any changes. Ironic that there is no VFL match for the fringe to push their case.
  23. Great last quarter. Now for the Hawks
  24. Stating the obvious but the next five minutes decides this game
