  1. this could be the making of the era we have all been waiting for. To have three class forwards is a surfeit of riches. Sure we could devise a gameplan around them but the chance to trade what is almost a surplus player for a known deficiency or two does not come along often.
  2. I will be surprised if Hunt is with us post 2019. Very much hope otherwise. Lewis' spot is there for the taking as we all know but no one at Casey has got close to demanding it.
  3. and that is what we have to get cooking to make the deal work our way. At present Freo think they are the only ones in the market which doesn't make for the best outcome. Trouble is Kennedy or Darling would need to be traded to give them some currency and not sure where they would get the other first rounder to make it work. Perhaps Jesse might like to try the surf at the Gold Coast?
  4. 6 and 9 is a bit light but it's getting there... depends what can be done with 9 player trade wise I would prefer 4 and 6 or thereabouts Mind you Redleg thinks we should get 4,6 and Brayshaw .. like his thinking
  5. Gaff only requires money ... as the lady says... please explain
  6. now you are starting to realize the benefits that might flow from trading Hogan. There is little doubt that the talks have been going for weeks and the media leaks are part of an orchestrated process. As to the Eagles, Kennedy is not getting any younger so they could be very interested in a succession plan that might even include trading Kennedy back to a Victorian club.
  7. As my mate Conan Doyle used to say... Quick Watson... the game is afoot.. Now to get Eagles and Freo into a good old fashioned bidding war. Have we had confirmation by the way that Hogan wants to go west? A competition wide bidding war would be great.
  8. so you'd want the equivalent of three early first rounders (Brayshaw was 2 IIRC).... wow that is a high asking price
  9. he could of course say... "trade me or I go next year" as a restricted free agent. Life isn't straight forward... Players now decide... clubs take what they can get
  10. A strong player for Casey and a very useful depth player for MFC. He will be missed.
  11. you may be right and if so GWS will get minimal compo. This is why with a Hogan trade this year we "might" be able to put together a better deal for GWS
  12. Hogan would have got cold waiting for the ball last week just like Weideman
  13. The Drums are certainly beating. It will happen if the deal is good enough. May for Hogan is laughable by the way. Key Forwards are worth 2 low first rounders (top 6) or their equivalent. May and a low first rounder is doable if the list committee think we need May. Personally I'd prefer a strong outside mid.
  14. so if we nominate him with our second round pick which is around pick 35 another club has to use their first round pick to take him from us? Am I correct At 173cm he is the same size as Spargo... can you carry two smalls in a modern AFL side? Interesting
  15. Would be very upset if the classic Richmond stand is demolished. The remaining part of that ground is completely devoid of character.
  16. GWS are presumably in the same boat with Kelly as we are with Hogan. Trade/resign him this year or he can leave next year (2019) in return for a desultory draft pick. Makes one wonder about the possibilities except that a straight trade would not be of interest to GWS given the talls they already have.
  17. can those who are criticizing him suggest who we replace him with? One of the best late senior players we have picked up. Sure we gave him three years but it's not his fault that there's not someone bashing down the door to take his place. And of course his first two finals were sublime.
  18. yep and we would get pick 20 or thereabouts in return. Even if we keep him it would be overs from a dollar perspective. Oh so blind are those that do not see. Sign him or trade him this year.
  19. peanuts... peanuts .. shilling a bag
  20. 1965 started as per usual with the MFC winning but of course Barrasi had left for Carlton. I can remember going to Princes Park to watch us play the Blues. Sat on top of an old tin shed with a load of other kids to watch the game. We won that day. In fact we won the first 8 straight and then the unimaginable happened... we lost to the Saints and won 2 out of the next 10 games. Being a Demon supporter has never quite been the same again.
  21. Another good performance by Weideman on Friday night.... I think he has arrived What has impressed me is his tackling and his ability below the knees. In his VFL days he was always where the ball wasn't but not anymore it seems.
  22. hard to see Hunt playing the Lewis role but who knows. He just looks lost at VFL level. The days of the running player are gone... it's the player with the 10 metre burst who is now the line breaker (or more correctly zone breaker). No use going for a big run and then having to stop because all your team mates are behind you.
  23. yep it's a question of degree... what if a club makes a wild ball offer for Hogan just like the Dogs did for Boyd say. Match it and then lose who in the years to come along with the acrimony that comes with a wage that is way out of kilter. The giving club doesn't get to match and force a trade. It gets the option to match and see if it can get a trade at that price. You can be assured that the paying club will not trade at that price because the absence of a need to trade has been built into the original offered price. The smart thing is to sign him up now or trade him. Gaff is a perfect example of how a club loses out even if the departing player is an RFA let alone an FA.
