  1. NSW have said no fans from Victoria for a while https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/jun/25/we-know-their-addresses-victorian-fans-banned-from-attending-nrl-and-afl-games-in-nsw "Supporters will then have to bring identification when they arrive at the grounds, with any Victorian residents to be turned away. The AFL is expected to follow suit The move came as NSW health minister Brad Hazzard revealed he had obtained assurances from both the NRL and AFL that they would not allow Victorian fans into games in NSW due to concern about the coronavirus spike in that state. “The only people that will get in will be members of the clubs or season-ticket holders, where we’ll know all their details,” V’landys told AAP on Thursday. “It’s to assure the government that no one from Victoria will be allowed in"
  2. But we could have gone to Qld or SA Isn't it strange that the three lowest drawing teams go to the State with the lowest permitted crowds. Sunday afternoon games aplenty for us I'm sure... we are a sponsor's dreamchild
  3. NSW allowing the lowest crowds at present IIRC And who go there.....MFC, Saints and North WA full capacity = Pies, Geelong and Dogs Small thing but we are increasingly irrelevant
  4. Agree but perhaps Melksham out instead of Hunt but either is good. Won't happen though and would not be surprised with only one change or no changes.
  5. changed already... the flag was my meaning?
  6. I cannot remember a period post 1987 when we have not had ruck domination.... Dwyer, Stynes, White , Jarman,Gawn...but none have delivered a flag. White was arguably a better contributor than Gawn
  7. two more losses and the season is probably over. Had we lost to Essendon and then lost the next three we would be 1-5. As it is with two more losses we will be 1-4
  8. Not exactly what the State Govt was trying to achieve ....standby
  9. not the right attitude ET If you were a Pies supporter you would know that round 8 cannot finish before the Pies have played 8 games. We are the AFL are we not
  10. In Old dees defence it does seem that this season has been going for months. Heard a great comment yesterday...."Well one good thing is that the year is now officially half over."
  11. what was the Bears average crowd? How have Brisbane fared post their premierships. What is the average crowd for the Titans? It's a sporting desert and always will be
  12. If they were on minimum money I'm ok with these. All clubs have their journeymen... if you think about it we have 6 or 7. Unfortunately we haven't uncovered a gem but few clubs do these days. I'm more concerned about the stagnation/deterioration of our better players. FWIW if we have to keep Goodwin I'd try and get a replacement for Mahoney particularly if we are say 3-5 at Round 8.
  13. And their biggest crowd will be 10k unless a big Melbourne team is playing during school holidays. Total waste of money and talent
  14. Looks like all the Melbourne clubs can go to NSW for 2 weeks play matches and then they can move on to Qld etc. If so places like Wagga might see a match with crowds. No need for them all to go to Sydney
  15. I used to read the injury reports and dream of what if. Now I watch the matches and wonder why bother
  16. I think the game style is doing that by itself... I watched one half of football last week when usually I would watch 2.5. That's the million dollar question ... The answer in NSW is yes but the other states... who knows. You would of course need to give the stadium a deep clean after we used it. There is the added question of what if a player came from one of hot spot postcodes.
  17. I see the AFL are talking of the Melbourne teams being based in an interstate hub for 4-5 weeks. Very optimistic, especially when you add in the two weeks quarantine needed to commence the process. 10-12 weeks with 7 being the optimists view. Like many my care factor for this season is fast diminishing
  18. Quite likely and what's the bet we stink up our one big TV appearance.... just seems to be our lot.
  19. Must say I chuckled when I read about his suspension.
  20. Strange times... does anyone know if the Swans "reserves" play GWS each week or do they fly around as well?
  21. The other States offer crowds now whereas they are two months at minimum in Melbourne. NT will pay money as would Tasmania for a few games in each Sate/Territory. Gil has won the lottery if you think about it.
  22. You could leave the Sydney teams where they are and locate one or two of the Melbourne teams there. The relative good news for MFC is that we would not be an obvious candidate for the WA hub.
  23. it's relatively easy now that you have three capital cities that allow crowds. The only variable is how many teams you locate in WA given the travel requirements. Start packing Goody
  24. I can see the comp being moved out of Melbourne for this season or at least for the next 6 odd weeks. Would mean another two weeks of byes to accommodate quarantine. The advantages of travel between non virus States plus crowds is very attractive.
