Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
WA Premier keeps on saying they wont lift the border restrictions so no idea of when WA may open. The plus is that they have as I understand been letting in fifo mining workers all along so there is some precendence for exceptions. WCE v Richmond or Collingwood at Perth would be a nice opening round game

May Ready for One Big Preseason
Can understand the cynicism.. after years of "training the house down stories" one has to wonder. Then again these stories are for the masses and not for the aficionados that inhabit this wonderful forum. Now if they had a story about how May had been studying the left footed kicking philosophy of Euripides we could have a serious discussion. When a good man is hurt, all who would be called good must suffer with him.

the SA Police let them off with a warning but the AFL penalty is yet to be decided. I suspect that it will be financial only but Gil may wish to stamp his authority. Suspension of the coaching staff involved could be the halfway house.

Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
the Crows training saga could have serious consequences. AFL are talking premiership points and/or suspensions according to Caroline Wilson talking on 3aw. She also let on that clubs were told that a player breaking social distancing laws could look at a season long suspension.

Pies Keen To Restart Season on Queen’s Birthday
no thanks....want a few easy ones to buildup some degree of momentum... go 0-3 or 0-4 and the season is over Seriously...it should just be a random draw with no manipulation whatsoever but we know it wont be. There will be the usual Friday night bias and we will get the Sunday afternoon graveyard shift along with the Saints, Freo, Dogs etc

Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
they were talking about that on the 3aw sports show a few days ago. No certainty that they will annul round 1 but unless they stuff up the fixture my thought is that the results will stand The decision maker will be the TV people. If they will pay more for 17 rounds that 16 guess what ???

Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
that would give you three rounds... good concept but would it be worth the effort The afl are also making murmurings of giving the interstate teams more home games (like 10) to counterbalance the travel factor. Methinks a little wedge politics is being played by all sides notwithstanding the "we'll be guided by the medical experts" stance.

Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
NRL continue to kick own goals...(from the Guardian) Nine Entertainment chief executive Hugh Marks has fired another salvo at the NRL, saying it’s not a given the league is a part of the network’s future. Marks’ comments come as delicate discussions continue with the NRL over how much it will pay to broadcast this year’s re-jigged competition. While stakeholders continue to press ahead with a May 28 restart date, it remains unclear how much the game will receive from Nine and Foxtel. “We have to be hard … we have agreed to nothing this year,” Marks said during a conference hosted by investment bank Macquarie on Tuesday. “There is no agreement on value or for how long. AND.... BREAKING ? Albury Council have BARRED @storm from using council facilities Will be forced to find private grounds for training in the region or pack up shop + relocate elsewhere

Do you want to win the premiership?
without injury and with a lot of luck we could win. Chances go up slightly if they annul the first round and we don't play Geelong at Geelong or North at Hobart etc. Not sure that our gameplan suits a three games in two weeks schedule. We will definitely need to win a few "ugly" as they used to say. The truth is we have more chance of winning the rejigged season than as it was. Our first half draw was the draw from hell and by now the season could have been practically over and we would all be screaming for a new coach.

Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
okay...you hear fifteen minutes before the game but after team sheets have been exchanged BTW... this was a family member so they're not going to get the high priced quick turn around version of testing

Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
one player or assistant getting the virus will bring the house of cards down from a competition viewpoint. One member of a player or assistant's family getting the virus and who knows what happens. Tested on Wedndesday ... results on Friday... do you tell the team you are playing on Saturday. I love hypotheticals !!

Training in 10’s
well the traditional methods haven't suited us well so I'll go for option 2 (train in cross groups). My logic is that the others in the group may learn more about the playing style of their team mates. Length of kick, sides of body, leading patterns etc. The downside of course is that each group will only have one coach so which one gets the forward coach etc??

Which MFC players do you leave out of the hub
they have not published the rules for replacements entering the hub after it is established but presumably it will require two weeks isolation from other players or similar. Other than Preuss who would be a maybe I wouldn't be taking any of the above into the hub unless they absolutely proved their fitness. Cannot see what Preuss adds if Jackson and Weid are already there as back ups. You also have to bear in mind that they are talking of three matches in each two week block so fitness of all in the hub is a very high priority.

2009 ReDrafted
it's worth remembering that Richmond sacked its chief recruiter after a number of top ten drafting fails. To say that it is an inexact science is an understatement. Recent events will increase the gap between the haves and the have nots which makes success with this list all the more important.

GAME 23: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Neitz vs Robertson
Just saw the final vote on Jones v Lovett almost 4-1 in favour of Jones... strange Anyway Neitz by the length of the proverbial straight in this vote

Which MFC players do you leave out of the hub
Agree Bradtke out for Brown given that we have Weid and Jackson in the hub... our level of injury makes the choice relatively easy.... I suppose there has to be some upside (if you can call it that) in our misfortune

Which MFC players do you leave out of the hub
Here's my attempt assuming you need to leave out 13 players: Injured: Nietschke, Bennell KK, AVB, Preuss, Hannan and Smith (7) Definitely out.... Mitch Brown, Josh Wagner, Hunt (3) Probably: Baker, Chandler, Jordon (3)

Which MFC players do you leave out of the hub
Seems relatively certain that each club will be permitted to take around 32 players into the hub. MFC has 38 players plus seven rookies. The rookies include Lockhart and Dunkley just to mention two. Who would you leave out of the hub?

Don't agree with everything dpositive but well argued and a balanced response.? The closing of the Queensland border in a way that excluded Coolangatta marks a nadir in federalism.

1990 what could have been
my memory of those days is that in finals at least we did okay at Waverley. It had very wide wings where you could get lost if you didn't stick to the more central parts of the ground.

Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
Interesting to see that the NRL hub concept provides for the Sydney teams at least to continue to live at home. The virus numbers are such in Australia that the complete quarantine hub is arguably not necessary particularly so if figures remain as is through May and June. Switzerland are opening restaurants soon because they are so happy that daily cases are down to 250 a day. Europe is discussing re-opening tourism in mid July. Balance is the key.
