  1. The posts were all very favourable so just tempering it with reality. From what I have witnessed over 2 years nothing special and no reason to think he will definitely make it as other posters have predicted. I may be wrong but ultimately I think he will be just another depth player. Name me the last best 22 player to come out of Casey MFC players.
  2. Another for whom 2020 will be an important year. Not sure whether he will make it
  3. Played down back by Goodwin and then dropped from a winning side for the prelim. Goodwin is a master tactician as we all well know
  4. Zac Dawson played to the team gameplan and did it very well. His job was simple... beat the forward... bring the ball to ground and give off to the designated runner. You don't play a 100 games unless you have something going for you.
  5. The fact that no one could push an ageing Lewis out of the team not to mention Vince the year before is a damning indictment of our depth and player development. Petty and Baker will be in the mix this year. Fingers crossed.
  6. Melksham??? Depth Miles in front of Hunt for example The remaining list shows how shallow we are. Jones and possibly Sparrow aside none of the remainder have shown signs of pushing for a best 22 spot short of injuries. Time for a good look at how MFC players are being developed at Casey. It's not just about winning games because you have some strong Casey listed players.
  7. Gotta move with times Dee S. MFC could benefit from a few influencers. Hell the Saudis just hired a bundle of them to plug the new tourist visas to Saudi which could be an even harder sell than the MFC
  8. Jayden's gamestyle does not go well with the modern high possession game. As a forward he is a stop gap for players like Melksham when injured. Another project for the coaching team to work out how to leverage his skills. Perhaps something as revolutionary as leaving a fast forward around the 80metre line so Hunt can kick to space for the forward to run onto.
  9. May be as simple as him not being on the payroll as yet. The coaches have a common sign on/sign off date which is around now as I understand it. The ones who moved on would have been paid out to that date one assumes. Soft salary caps and our financial position may preclude early sign ons. Then again it could just be an oversight.
  10. other than Petracca and Viney they're not exactly household names. The aforementioned and Fritsch aside unless forced to would you offer any of them more than a year if you were signing them up today? In reality many will get two years simply because you cannot turn them all over.
  11. Two of my favourite players ....perhaps because I saw them give their best so often for Casey. I have often been critical of the way they were played at Casey (inside mids mainly) which was obviously intended to build up their strength but it did little to build their skills in the break away area. Would they have made it under different circumstances. Probably not but few players have emerged from what has been a dominant VFL team. Perhaps it's time to have a look at that area. Only one in three AFL players ever get to play 50 games so 39 games (JKH) and 47 games for Billy is not a fail by any measure. Good luck guys
  12. Go you King Islanders !!!
  13. The mid season injury was disappointing as those last 10 odd games with little pressure might have seen him pick up. My feeling is that he won't quite make it unless he improves in three key areas: Leading; Crashing packs (requires more body strength); and Stops being lead under the ball
  14. No one can construct for you the bridge upon which precisely you must cross the stream of life, no one but you yourself alone.
  15. To me the most disappointing player of 2019. Casey form was rarely wonderful but the glimpses he showed during the 2018 AFL finals made us think we had a player. 2020 will answer the question one way or the other
  16. 2nd last and 8-10 wide around the home turn....Quite a run by M de G
  17. Hi guys wondering if any of you know how the international betting rights market is split up. Take the Caulfield Cup. We run it at 5:15 local time to maximise Asian interest. Okay sale of broadcast rights I understand but do the Australian racing clubs get a share of what is bet at Happy Valley etc Many thanks and happy punting !
  18. Had a good game against Carlton (16th) but his previous games were very forgettable. Interesting to see that he had a low conversion rate by comparison to 2018 and 2017. 18 g 15 b A major reason why we had the season we did. Understatement to say that he needs to kick 40 if we are going to do well.
  19. Agree... but seemed to little attempt to build their skills by encouraging an open game plan for example. I enjoy the Casey games for a day out but not many players have come out of that team.
  20. Was hoping to see a negotiated retirement on medical grounds but not so. Probably the same for KK. Anyway let's see what 2020 brings for them both but surely if they don't get on the park that's it.
  21. Watched him many times at close quarters at Casey. An infectious and enthusiastic young man who is obviously great to have around the club. He racks up big possession numbers at Casey in their midfield but like many at Casey he has not been tried in various specialist positions such as forward or as a lock down back etc. Much the same goes for Stretch. Makes me wonder about the development/experimental path at Casey. After Maynard's departure the only back up mids at Casey are JKH and Stretch. If the two first round draft picks are used to pick up mids then I think they are both gone. If as suggested we use one pick on a forward perhaps one of them stays. TBH both need to go to other clubs for better opportunities but it seems that time has passed them by.
  22. Do MCC members get free entry to Docklands? I think not which drops the crowd by 7-8k. The other issue is that the second level which is the prime viewing area is reserved (read empty) seating. If we are performing I will go along but it is a rather soulless venue. Presumably we will also be there against it's tenants for their home games if we have them...Essendon, Carlton Saints and Footscray
  23. Demonland aka One who is never afraid to ask the hard question. If only one of our many former Jacks was available.......
