  1. GWS have a great exit strategy which they use occasionally. Small skilful player kicks short straight to a player twenty metres out then runs past receiving player from whom he takes a handball and then attack the corridor
  2. Agree... media are talking up the game which I suppose can be justified in the lead swings but really Port should have won by ten goals. Hardwick's coaching was nothing spectacular. Should have slowed down the game and used his key forwards better. The fast game favours Martin so I suppose it's a trade off issue
  3. That's the big unknown. Is there someone willing to pay. Prices paid for niche sports (and that is what AFL is) are under pressure. Very few if any media companies are making a profit. If clubs want to make your idea work (playing each other twice) ideally you would reduce the number of teams to 12 with four in Melbourne, one in Geelong and one perhaps in Tasmania.
  4. You mean there is someone who doesn't know our gameplan ?
  5. a couple of years on (if not less) and the debate in this thread will appear strange. Boys will be boys ended a long time ago. It's a workplace !! More importantly it's a workplace that sets an example for so many others. Frankly I'm not sure the AFL know how to deal with it. Laugh it off or treat it for what it was.
  6. It's in hands of the AFL integrity committee.... (Need I say more)
  7. BBO... an internal club matter surely. Apologise and move on. After all players cannot be expected to be role models and that horrible journalist was muck raking.
  8. Not a great coaching performance by Hardwick. Took on Port at full strength with a weakened Tigers team and played head on football. Dumb... like Goodwin. His tactics against the Dogs were much better. If Port had kicked straight it would have been a ten goal loss.
  9. Welcome back Spartacus Not the strongest of teams ...but who knows
  10. NT Govt bought limited memberships under a contra deal As in 2020 we dropped Darwin the number they purchased went down. $1m = 10,000 x$100 3 game memberships approx
  11. The 50k was always rubbery as are most clubs numbers. Question is why we fell by such a huge percentage compared to every other club. I have my suspicions but it's time for the club to come clean
  12. Remember ANB pleaded guilty and argued that the impact should be graded as high not severe. Even his advocate argued for a 2 match suspension acknowledging 3 at the most. AFL rep argued for 3-4 Best an appeal would deliver is 3 matches Not worth it... move on and file it as another chapter in the MFCSS saga
  13. Close results aside that was an atrocious game. It was played on the boundary line. Ball was out maybe 60-70% of the time. Strangely it was almost always on the camera side of the ground Same for so many games. I watched the F1 warm up (very boring) and then skipped through the game(kayo 30 second jump is wonderful).
  14. And here's the Richmond apology... Richmond's statement released later on Friday said: "It had become aware of some player behaviour during post-match team songs recently that is unacceptable and not in line with the club or community expectations." "It was a stupid action and I am deeply embarrassed. I've apologised to Mabior," Vlastuin said. "It was unacceptable behaviour and a poor example," Short said.
  15. Thought it was there (the free kick) high contact and he was going for the ball Selwood has been paid those almost every week
  16. It has not gone unnoticed Big Footy board (general) has a lively discussion as does the Tigers sub forum I noticed a post that it's now in the hands of the AFL integrity unit... (no I cannot comment)
  17. Got the maximum.... four weeks
  18. Was just on the AFL site and the video of the Richmond celebration song is still there several hours after the initial report.
  19. Here's the live link to the AFL tribunal blog ANB's hearing has been running for the last half hour https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-tribunal-news-live-updates-tonight-2020-alex-nealbullen-tackle-news-chairman-results-panel/news-story/1ef8ab1f643035a4a2ba07cb7bb36886
  20. Football clubs... culture still in mid last century This story has a way to go Chol is a breath of fresh air in this season of ill winds
  21. Agree... there is little doubt that selection cost us the Geelong game and possibly the Richmond game.
  22. are you suggesting we use a little CGI to show off our state of the art training facilities ?
  23. The GF is a bidding war between the States (ie how much they pay the AFL). Included will be things like free hotel accommodation, share of ground receipts, signage and cold hard cash. I'm backing WA simply because they will pay more and the Govt will see it as a celebration of their covid strategy. Qld will be bidding for the NRL and State of origins and will have less appetite for a second multimilion dollar sweetener No chance of Victorian fans being allowed. Perhaps some expensive and complex (movement limited) air bridges for other States. As to the lead up finals that's a bit harder. My guess would be three hubs for the first two weeks and then locate in Finals city for the Prelims and GF. If however one city offers to foot the bill for all the finals and underwrite crowd numbers/stadium revenue the AFL may blink as the costs of maintaining teams in unsubsidised hubs is enormous. Even a final between say Saints and Collingwood at Metricon is a probable loss making proposition. Finally there is the unknown of whether fans will pay on average $200 to attend the GF not to mention the usual corporate excess. 2020 is a different era.
  24. Agree. Have a look at how they beat GWS. Constant scragging and push the game to the boundary. Denial of the corridor has become a feature of this season and has contributed to the low scores. If a skilled team such as GWS can't break into the corridor we have no chance. The way to beat North is rolling maul about twenty metres inside the boundary with Footscray like handballs/throws
  25. may it continue
