Agree. I also think it's part of the education process in the sense you get to know what your opponent in that position is trying to do. Plus if you're a fringe player you are increasing your selection possibility simply because you can play a couple of positions

My view is that players should be playing other roles at VFL level than their natural position. Not all the time but say one half every two games. The VFL comp is not about winning it's about discovering and developing players. Winning is very much second. Reminds me of the medal they used to give to the best VFL reserves player prior to the AFL. A commentator said it's a good medal to win but you never want to win it twice.
