  1. Round 5 for the abracadabra round according to reports and one assumes that Round 1 is now a week early. Listen to the whinging if a team draws Adelaide or Port. We haven't heard as to how the additional round impacts the loose formula for top six playing each other twice etc Also will the AFL "waste" good games on suburban venues and low crowds
  2. Wow our new training facility looks good 😎
  3. It's $500k each Originally they mentioned $1M per club Used to head for Adelaide a lot for work. During the annual Test Match accommodation was hard to find and very expensive. No reason to think this would be different
  4. So we got an old oval resurfaced and some new change rooms 50k from the MCG
  5. Punt Road can barely host a VFL game Even then it is so awkward why bother The space between Punt road and the fence is around ten feet
  6. Governments love to announce... the more pie in the sky the better Anyone ever heard a government announcement about the MFC
  7. This is what bewildered me
  8. A very solid season but one cannot help but think it should have been better
  9. Should have come back through Casey with 2-3 managed games
  10. Realistically .......none Sparrow has the best chance perhaps
  11. A barometer player Not sure however if we are heading for storms in 2023 though
  12. After the Bradtke experiment it's hard to get excited. The funny thing is I thought Bradtke was starting to show green shoots when delisted
  13. Not sure how you arrive at that view. Practice games play an essential part in the pre season build up. They give exposure to fringe players by using extended benches and allow older players to ease into the season. Playing for points removes all of these benefits
  14. SA Premier needs to up his bid. Crowd attendances are irrelevant to the AFL as the whole thing is paid for by the "winning State" I suppose the fact that it's an extra round softens the usual screaming by clubs about losing a home game. Going by the Shanghai fiasco competing clubs were asking for $1M plus expenses to be Port Adelaide's dance partner/bunny. TBH I hate this idea but as usual... anything for the money
  15. Much cheaper than USA OD but more expensive than what I'm used to in Asia... Beer is cheap though One funny thing is that they think I'm American and expect massive tips. A few grumbles when I don't tip (locals only leave a little loose change) Heading up to the US in just over a week. California has sales tax, (8%) employee health levies (5%) and tips(20% minimum) added to the already exorbitant listed prices. AU$ decline does not help either
  16. Thought he might have gone to another club over the last few years but surprisingly no interest. VFL form was always steady but just lacked that final piece of luck. Debuted before Petty IIRC
  17. did you know OD that in the north of Vietnam (Hanoi) Ban Mhi is served warm by putting the roll in a steamer whereas down south it's cold like we see in Melbourne Presently in Mexico. Hard to really crack the street food scene here without Spanish but I'm trying. I've been to some out of the way countries and never had a problem by using observation and hand signs. Everything here involves multiple choice to make up a combo which complicates life. I'll keep at it!!
  18. We revived the massive Jesse Hogan thread a couple of months back. This one might have another lease of life in the future. Even Voldemort got a brief re-opening PS.. well well....300 pages !!!
  19. That's not a great deal. It's the one every club rejected when it was floated over a month ago
  20. Little doubt that MacDonald going down and Weid not stepping up spooked the coaching panel. Surprised we did so little this trade period to rectify the problem. I assume Gunston was too expensive or the contract too long
  21. No other club saw value in the deal... even to the extent they got into discussions/negotiations Anyway let's hope it works
  22. How many $$$$ is the question ????
  23. Says a little about Freo if they don't let Meek go. It seems an unwritten rule that if a player cannot get a regular game at a club and is offered an opportunity at another everything reasonable is done to facilitate the move. Witness what we are doing with Weid. There's no upside for us in letting him go a year early but it's happening
  24. Almost non existent is my guess About ten years ago when we were playing twice a year up there I was at the MCG. Near me was a group of boys from NT who had come down to play in an under 16 carnival. I asked them if MFC had much of a following in NT. They looked at me as if I was an alien. No one in the group plus their friends followed Melbourne
