NON-MFC: Round 9, 2022
Barely touched the ball. Just seemed to strut around. Parker took the mickey out of him with a shoulder shrug jig after kicking a goal after Sheil fumbled the ball. The jig suggesting Shiel is frightened to go in hard for the ball. Video of the sledge here: -luke-parker-sledge-to-dylan-shiel Quite funny!

Top 8 Now Fixed - according to history
Nope, its based on how many of their 2020 GF team still there and with the exception of Riewoldt and Cotchin in good form. Riewoldt can still turn in a high scoring game. They have unreal finals experience and belief. They know how to turn it on in the finals even if they haven't had the best H & A season. Not saying they will but even if they aren't top 4 they are the most likely to give the finals a good shake outside the top 3. And on their day they can roll any of the top 3.

Top 8 Now Fixed - according to history
It is highly likely top 3 will be Demons, Dockers, Lions. 4th spot is up for grabs for one of Blues, Cats, Saints, Swans or Tigers to do a 'Bradbury'. The threat is the Tigers, having comfortably won every game since Dusty returned; admittedly those games were vs Eagles, Pies and Hawks. If Tigers get on a roll they can roll any of the top 8 teams. Hopefully they don't finish 4th and will have a harder finals run. For us, finish top 2 and win the first final and all our finals will be at the G. Lose the first final and we will most likely play an 'Away' Prelim, if we make it. An interesting aspect is whether Dockers, Blues, and maybe the Saints suffer 'finals nerves'. The further they go the more stressful it will become.

The very, very contentious 50 for Dissent Rule
I thought Khamis was appealing for an ITB free (which looked like it was there) not dissent per se.

NON-MFC: Round 9, 2022
The rest of the season: Port have as good a chance as Bulldogs if they beat North today and get a decent % boost. But for mine, the Tigers have it sown up.

Membership Tally 2022
That was because McGowan locked out the east coast club, AFL, MCC members and sponsors. GF public tickets don't happen at the G.
-
Membership Tally 2022
You misunderstood my post. "scrambling at the same designated time" meant at the time Ticketek make tickets available for each group. ie Members will be scrambling for tickets at the same time as other members. Non-members will be scrambling for tickets at the same time as other non-members, for the first 3 weeks of finals. That is the way it is for all ticket sales even H & A: Tickets for members are available before ticket sales for non-members. I fully understand how GFG and ticket sales work! For the club ticket allocation, there is no ballot for GF tickets. If there are any GF tickets left after the GFG (Priority 1) allocation they are available for Priority 2, then Priority 3 etc members until the allocation is exhausted. Whatever priority GF a member is, they still have to 'scramble' via Ticketek to buy the tickets with other members in that priority group.

Membership Tally 2022
It is a worthy idea by dfa but there is no way to track how many games non-members attend, short of Ticketek collecting the team someone barracks for which isn't going to happen. Members and non-members alike will go thru the same chaos with Ticketek as 2018 finals all scrambling for tickets at the same designated time.

Membership Tally 2022
Other than the GF for other finals at the G just about any member that wants to go will get a ticket. We won't be playing finals at Marvel. In 2018 we were allowed two tickets per member vs Hawks and Geel, even for 3 game members. This year getting two tickets per member is unlikely if we play Ess, Coll, Rich or Carl, otherwise it is hard to see members not getting a ticket. GF is automatically rationed by the GFG.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Was that from a reliable report? IF Gus wants more midfield time he won't get it at Carlton with Cripps, Cerra, Walsh etc settled there. Wishful thinking by Carlton.

What They Are Saying in Lathlain
Still no thread on their Flying High website. WCE fan disinterest meter rising? A few more gems from Bigfooty: lol Melbourne had a genuine chance to rest some sore players but will fly the whole team out... ... As if they wonโt be getting a rest on Sunday ... Running scared they are. Worried about our 'keeping it close to the chest' surprise selection policy they are. Think we might beat them they do. At least we'll keep the time honoured tradition alive of getting pumped on a players milestone game. Genuinely surprised they intend to risk Gawn against us. They rate Jamo highly I see. Unfortunately we have been spoiled as supporters of west coast. Other teams have been down for decades and when we are down for a few years we are up in arms. It says a lot about us as supporters and a lot of us are fair weather in our attitude.

Will any Eagles fans be at the game!! From Bigfooty:

TEAMS: Rd 09 vs West Coast
This intrigued me and thought maybe Bailey has been living off his GF which was outstanding. In looking at his numbers he has kicked a goal in every game and is averaging: 2 goals, 0.9 points and 0.9 GA. The GA's count for a lot given that they are usually close to goal via a player in a better position. For a relatively low scoring club Bailey's numbers look reasonable. But he does look quite relaxed at times giving me the incorrect impression he may not be working as hard as he could be. Had i known we were going to play 'shut the game down' final quarters I wouldn't have tipped him for the Coleman. Will know better next year!

CHANGES: Rd 09 vs West Coast
In Goodwin's press conf this morning it sounded like no changes.

What They Are Saying in Lathlain
I'm for the second option! Their fans have been merciless to visiting teams so not sure I can afford them to much sympathy or for very long. I mean they had to support us or Geelong (PF) or the Bulldogs (GF) so no choice but to support the Dees. This is the team that reportedly included the words "Demons are sh-t" when they sang their song after beating us in 2019 rubbing in the 2018 PF demolishing. I would like revenge at the scene of the crime in a similar way we avenged 186 at Kardinia Park in round 23 and the PF.

Still nearly 3 months to go to the cut off date. Plenty of time to break that record again.

Not surprising. The reported Kelly, Corniglio, Green and Whitfield contracts are huge. Not just $ but also the length of, meaning they will drain the sal cap for many years to come until those guys are well into their 30's. The newer talent would wonder what is left for them to share in in the next 5 years. And the 'eye test' would support the view that those guys are not performing to the level of their contract $. From the outside those guys seem to have formed a little clique. Again from the outside, Cameron does not seem to have succeeded in developing a 'selfless' culture.

It will speed up the process at other clubs in 1) sacking their current coach 2) wanting to court Clarkson or Buckley or another highly rated coach. FOMO will set in. The most recent example was last year when Buckley was sacked, quickly followed by Teague being sacked. Then much courting by both clubs of Clarkson, Lyon et al and when Coll wanted to interview Mitchell he goes to the club and they sack Clarkson. There are a few more coaches in the gun this year or who may want to move and will cause more dominoes to fall.

Its time for the popcorn! Truly, I have no idea. Lewis said last night Simpson should be thinking about whether he wants to go thru a rebuild after 10 years at the club. He took over at WCE when they were in contention. A newbie coach there now would be torn to shreds from day 1 by their fans and the WA media. A scary thought. David King put up a chart showing that newbie coaches fail with bottom of the ladder re-build clubs. He listed many many names and found only a couple that didn't: Clarkson and maybe another that I don't recall. So, time for the popcorn!

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
I could very reluctantly come to terms to losing Gus as long as it wasn't to Geelong or Essendon. At least if he left, we could match an offer and force a trade because the best AFL comp pick we will get is in the high teens.

Don Pyke could be added to the first group; took Crows to a GF and left due to politics. And add highly touted Kingsley to the second group. And Simpson could be coaxed out of WCE, not necessarily for the Giants role but for the dominoes that will follow. It is quite competitive so Yze won't find it easy getting a senior gig. Edit: Just saw this on AFL website on newbie coaches: "Jaymie Graham at Fremantle (and previously West Coast) is strongly regarded, Ash Hansen at the Blues and previously the Bulldogs has built a good resume and Adem Yze (at Melbourne and before that, under Clarkson at the Hawks) has developed his credentials, while Andrew McQualter and Adam Kingsley at Richmond, and Daniel Giansiracusa at Essendon are among the other assistants who have been in the running for senior gigs".

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
This is the whole interview. First half MND, second half the Dees and Gus: He trained the whole preseason for the wing. As we know he went down back when Salem was injured. What happens to Gus when Salem returns might be significant in his decision. Meanwhile, love his focus on the team and getting better at the job he has been given.

Karl Amon
st-kilda-to-talk-with-power-free-agent-amon "Sources familiar with Amonโs situation said that he would talk to the Saints, while Hawthorn and reigning premiers Melbourne are also among the clubs to have registered an interest in him. It is unclear how the Demons could possibly accommodate Amon, however, given their imminent salary cap squeeze and the fact that they wish to re-sign star young ruckman/forward Luke Jackson and free agent gun Angus Brayshaw." Reading that it looks like Saints are the front runners. He is an Unrestricted Free Agent which means Port cannot match an offer as he is not one of their top 25% paid players..
