  1. I wouldn't put to much store on Dunstan's Brownlow and AFLCA votes. Other than Steel there was no competition. At the Demons he may get no votes as they are more likely to our top 6 players but will he be a better and more valuable player than when he plays than at the Saints..
  2. Anyone know if he has nominated us as F/S and where he is likely to be called in the draft?
  3. Got it! Will go back and fix. ;-)
  4. Can't recall the exact details but the AFL require a club to use a 1st round pick every rolling 3 yr (i think) period. We had traded out 3 years of first round picks for Lever and May so were not allowed to bring forward the 2019 future pick. Or something like that. We were lucky that timing coincide with us finishing 17th.
  5. I saw a snippet of a footy chat show where they said Demons are so far in front of other contenders. The latter need to do something significant in the trade period to even go close to catching up. But so far the contenders hadn't yet done much of significance to threaten next year. On a different note, Essendon is very quite. Hatching something?
  6. GCS are stockpiling a mountain of 2022, 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks (Their ownn, Pies and Freos).
  7. This has the updates for: Mitch Brown 1 year Rookie contract Recruitment of Luke Dunstan for 2 years List and Draft details Posters have noted above some players have been offered contracts but not yet confirmed by the club. These are shown in green. An important thing to note are the List size Rules at the bottom. The overall allowed is 37 to 42 comprised of 36 to 38 Senior spots and 4-6 'A' Rookie spots. In addition 2 'B' Rookie spots can be added for 44. As we currently have the max allowed 6 'A' Rookie we have only 2 Senior list spots for a total of 40. More list spots become available if those rumoured to not have a contract, Hore, Smith and Chandler were to depart. However, we currently have 5 live draft picks. Pick 94 will go to upgrade Jordan. He was contracted for 2 years in April but we still need to use a draft pick to officiate he being a Senior player. This leaves us with 17, 37, 49, and 57. These picks may well change and/or 37, 49 and 57 are used for Woewodin and our NGA players. If so, we will need to free up more list spots. Will add Dunstan to the list of 'Ins' with the next update.
  8. Agreed it is overplayed. As odd as it may sound our ball movement (especially overlapping hand ball chains) do not need accurate disposal skills. Our ball movement depends on players getting to space rather than accurate delivery by hand or foot.
  9. I think our split was Performance (Richardson) and Operations (Mahoney) as the latter included List Mangement, Recuriting, Casey, VFL, AFLW. When Mahoney left the Operations role was split further. The List Management went to Lamb (the Brady Rawlings role) and the latter part went to McPherson. Not sure what title he had. It may be just terminology.
  10. The NM restructure north-to-bolster-football-department
  11. Our medi subs this year have usually been JJ, Sparrow, Jones, Melksham and Chandler. While Dunstan may not be a first 22 there is a likely to start as the medi sub in most games. I'm confident he will get senior games with us.
  12. By then we might have a few flags and everyone will have forgotten the trading forward.
  13. North have split their 'GM Football' into two streams as we did last year. McPherson has the same job Alan Richardson took up a year ago with us. It is a promotion for him and with it extra income. Up to last year when McPherson picked up some of Mahoney's role (the VFL/AFLW part), he was Football Manager which was largely an admin job (but important job) supporting the players and football department. He has a very good and diverse football background and am sure he will do well.
  14. Rule #1 of football: On any given day either team can win. So if 'perfect' means winning every game, it won't happen. On that definition 2021 was far from perfect: we lost a few games. And on an emotional level we missed some favourite sons playing in the Grand Final. Rule #2 of football: We don't need to be the best team of the season, just the best team in September. For mine, it was as perfect as I could have hoped. Max said it best: After 57 years of pain it 🏆 is coming home!
  15. I so clearly remember this game. They were the reigning 3-peat Premiers. We had been 'their bunny' for soooo long. They were one of the 'Big' clubs that a few years earlier had said they didn't want to play their Home games vs us at the G because their fans won't go. We lost to them earlier in the season. There was a lot of hurt tangled up in all that. We beat them 17.8 to 11.15. It felt like a cathartic win. On the siren I cried as some of the past hurt was released. It felt like a turning point. As it turns out that game marked a changing of the guard. The Hawks did not make a PF again (we took care of that in 2018) and here we are Premiers. I looked for reports of that game and The Age wrote: "No football fan wants to hear their team is rebuilding, but today Demons supporters glimpsed a future filled with speed, talent and dare, and must have started to believe it had all been worthwhile...This may not be the Demons' year, but all signs suggest they would have one, and soon. Prescient.
  16. So you think Josh Hunt will put his boots on again!! Age profile fits...😉
  17. Good bump. As there is still 2 years to go on that plan, every chance we will meet or better every one of them!
  18. Under normal circumstances 2021 would have been their Home games. Rich would have played with a meagre crowd on ANZAC Eve and in Pies in Sydney. In 'normal' circumstances 2022 is the Dees turn for 'Home' games. Really we have all missed out on the best part of 4 games of Home crowds due to covid. Hence why starting alternate Home games for the blockbusters would be good from next year.
  19. Then lets go for option 2: Alternate with Rich and Collingwood to smooth our revenue from year to year.
  20. We can now genuinely lay claim to being an: anyone, anywhere, anytime team. We have 'walked the talk.' We dee fans can now approach every game expecting us to win so it doesn't matter who we play.
  21. Hoping we get ANZAC Eve and QB as Home games as all we had the past two years was a restricted 2020 ANZAC Eve crowd. Or maybe it is a good time to alternate with Richmond and Collingwood so we don't have the 'feast/famine' affect on our financials every other year. Wouldn't be happy if they are both Away games in 2022. Would love it if the QB game becomes the Pies Grand Final
  22. This may seem a bit odd but would Melksham back at Ess work? They have a very young team with only Hurley over 30. I don't know their team very well but not sure they have many experienced forwards or forward depth. Melksham would have less competition for games at Ess than the Dees. Their rebuild is a few years behind ours so it would be like us bringing in Cross, Vince, Lewis.to support the younger teammates. At this stage they have picks 11, 48 and 53. By some accounts they have a bit of sal cap space. So they might give up a late pick and take over his salary. Win, win, win. Just a thought bubble
  23. Predict all Grand Final Guarantee memberships already sold out! Unless those sold in WA just before the PF aren't renewed. Anyone wanting a GFG should get one (or on the waiting list) asap.
  24. Thanks for all that. I'll keep an eye on club website and when announced I'll update the table. On those reports we will have only Dore as Senior list player uncontracted. Great work by Lamb and Richardson to get so many players signed during the year.
  25. Glad you keep me on my toes! I'll make the typo changes with the next update ;-) I haven't seen an upgrade for Turner from the rookie list - Is there a reference somewhere?
