  1. Port have a habit of physically targetting our players, especially Max. Lycett worked him over when at the Eagles in the 2018 Prelim. He and others did they same in round 1 2019. Even debutantes crashed into him at every opportunity. They repeated the dose in 2020 when we came off a 4 day break. They also targetted other players in that game. I hope Max and the team have not forgotten. Would love to see a few classic May, Viney et al tackles in the first 10 minutes ala the WB GF, to knock the stuffing out of a few players. All that aside, Port are missing their bookends (Dixon and Aliir Aliir) and their midfield aren't playing with a lot of confidence. Dees by 35 points.
  2. The AFL is planning to create NFT's starting with Buddy's 1000th goal and sell them. They can be on-sold. They are a speculative 'investment'. Anyone can create one. But they don't exist in any sort of physical form; a bit like cryptocurrencies. I doubt this will help but it was the most stratight forward definition I could find... Nonfungible tokens are units of data that represent a unique digital asset stored and verified on the blockchain. These examples of multimillion $ NFT's will blow your mind: https://decrypt.co/62898/most-expensive-nfts-ever-sold
  3. PORT ADELAIDE In: T.Clurey Out: S.Skinner (omitted), M.Frederick (omitted) Last week's sub: M.Frederick (replaced S.Skinner) MELBOURNE In: J.Lever Out: J.Smith (HS Protocol), T.Bedford (Medi-Sub) Last week's sub: Toby Bedford. Emergencies: [12] Toby Bedford, [22] Blake Howes, [27] Luke Dunstan, [37] Kade Chandler A nice surprise to see Howes as an emergency!
  4. A bit like Robbie Grey: not been out of iso long enough.
  5. "In the Preliminary Final, Melbourne became the first team since 1992 to defeat Geelong 3 times in a season" "Melbourne’s minor premiership to Grand Final strike rate is a perfect 10/10"
  6. Taylor Adams tests positive. star-pie-tests-positive-to-covid-ruled-out-of-eagles-clash With De Goey suspended the Eagles might beat the Pies this weekend. An interesting insight: McRae also revealed that only five of his players have yet to contract the virus.
  7. Rutten in iso as a close contact. caracella-to-coach-the-bombers
  8. I don't know. I don't think Tayla Harris got paid for her iconic image but the AFL made tons of $ from the promotion of AFLW because of it. Will Buddy? Depends how one interprets the McLachan's comment I posted above.
  9. In his press conf Goodwin said something about Brown being in iso and not being able to see him at the club. I assume this is to do with measurements and monitoring of players during exercise, recovery etc. Or if they wanted to work on some tactics for Port. So the iso may work against him if he wasn't able to do or be monitored for a certain amount of exercise. And the club won't 'see him' until a few hours before the game. To be on the safe side, maybe they list him on the bench or as an emergency then assess him when he gets to SA, if he does go over. The AFL may need to be a bit flexible on its rules around late changes in the current covid environment.
  10. A by-product of this is the long standing AFL policies that players have no rights to any images taken of them. As it is that article is not very clear as to whether a player in this case Buddy gets any $ for the NFT's. It says 20% was negotiated with the AFLPA but not sure if that is for the AFLPA, Club or Player. How do others interpret this from McLachlan: “There’s an arrangement between us and the players’ association that’s been reached in the last couple of days. They’ll take 20 per cent, and then if clubs or individuals, an additional 5 per cent for marketing of the product, and there’s obviously our partnership with [software company] Animoca,” he said. I can see in future players agitating with the AFLPA to give them back their rights for images of them doing something special or iconic images eg The famous Tayla Harris kick.
  11. I wondered how long it would take for someone to post that connection! You take first prize, Ds!!
  12. NFT's are a weird thing. Can't do much with them except store them on a digital device. So value is in the scarcity and hope the value goes up. Presumably the AFL will release only one NFT for each image to not dilute value. Copyright doesn't transfer to the NFT holder. One would hope they just aren't the latest fad. Would rather buy something tangible or the original.
  13. Montana lost her 1 game suspension appeal. Understandably she is shattered that she isn't playing on Saturday. Adelaide have the option to appeal further, presumably to a non-AFL court...? Anyone know what impact her absence may have on the Crows team?
  14. Can I double check the 9.am tomorrow time as AFL website says 11.00 am https://www.afl.com.au/tickets/onsale-dates/toyota-afl-premiership-season Round 6-9 (Incl ANZAC Day) MCG Tuesday, April 5 9am – MCC Members 1pm – AFL Members 2pm – Club Members Wednesday, April 6 11am – General Public
  15. Unfortunately, I only have Home game membership. I'm really keen to get 2 tickets on level 1 or 2 to take a Qld friend coming down just for the game. Forgot it was Richmond's Home game. Now I need to wait for GA ticket sales which open tomorrow at the same time for Anzac Eve and Anzac DayI so Ess, Tiger and Pies fans will all be on Ticketek at the same time and clog the system.. If there is anyone out there who has two 'Away' GA memberships who aren't going to the Anzac Eve game and are happy to share their barcodes so I can get tickets tonight, I would be especially grateful. Would be happy to contribute to a charity of one's choice.
  16. I take it you have a membership which includes 'Away' games?
  17. Coaches Split: 10: 5/5 Oliver 8: 4/4 Brayshaw 4: 2+2 or 3+1 or 1+3 for Weideman, Langdon, Wright. Consistent coach voting; good to see all players get votes from both coaches. Absolutely rapt for Sam.
  18. Coaches Split: 5/5 Oliver 4/4 Brayshaw 2+2 or 3+1 or 1+3 for Weideman, Langdon, Wright. Good to see all players got votes from both coaches.
  19. Agreed. He wasn't the same after he had a few games out in early August for back problems. And his 2022 games so far haven't been noteworthy. I wonder if the back is a recurring problem and inhibits his ability to jump for marks or to spoil. A good time for Weideman to make his mark.
  20. If op flood our backline and tag our stars those tactics will backfire and they will struggle to kick a winning score. They may hope to get a few cheap 'out the back' goals but our defence is very good at stopping those forays. The tactic that worked best against us last year was fast attacking football.
  21. Hmmm. I thought he had a couple of good games during 2021 but just an average finals series...
  22. Also, he said one of the talls will miss. Not so sure that Brown will be selected after a week absence from the club @ the 3.00 min mark. He rejoins the group on Thursday (which is after teams are announced). As an aside, it is good they now have some mics in the audience to hear the questions (the audio quality could be better).
  23. All doom and gloom at bigfooty: If Brown does miss, we'll at least get ten goals closer... We may do better in this game. No expectations, we'll be rank outsiders and there'll be less crowd pressure. It's deck chairs on the titanic after only 3 rounds 25k ? Id be surprised if 20k turn up at this point. I have been a member since 1997 and at the moment I would rather stick pins in my eyes then witness another week of that [censored]. Play the kids and see what they can do. We are done this year. I’m glad it happens this early in the season, so the club has time to search for a new coach. I’d be surprised if we keep this under a 80 point loss. A Dee-struction on the national stage will go down a treat. Ben Brown to kick another 10. We are f’ed, gave away all out depth when we were back to back prelim finalists..Joke of a club at the minute Max Gawn hasn't been killing 'em in ruck this year but once again Melbourne run two big men in Gawn supported by Jackson. It is amazing how other sides seem to be able to run two big men but we can't. I am losing patience with Connor Rozee as he has talent but seems to have hit a plateau. If Duursma can get the drop so can Rozee. He can take Motlop with him. I'm trying to envisage how Port can choose a 22 to win this game. Maybe if the Dees have a bad night in front of the big sticks, we might be a slim chance - otherwise 0-4 is a certainty. Honestly we are no chance. It’s a matter of how much. Even with a full list and Petracca and Oliver rested, we still lose. Our only hope is to have each team we play affected by covid but remain clean ourselves. My god we are going to get hammered. Melb by 71 points. Who ******* cares I suspect this Melbourne side would have given any of the sides; great Geelong side of 07-11, hawthorn of 13-15, Brisbane and port of 01-04, a good shake. So no chance we win. But you do get to see some of the game’s great players whoop us so….. And for good measure, a hint of optimism: I’ve got a strange feeling that we will win. The reality is it really should’ve been a 5 goal win against the crows if we didn’t butcher so many easy chances and the crows actually missed.
