So much stuff is buried deep in website pages. I hope to God this is all really clear to fans before the 16th. It is two years since most people went to a live game. I suspect most people wouldn't be delving into club apps, emails and websites like we and others are doing to find the details of ticketing and access. I wouldn't be surprised if lots of people aren't really aware they can't used the 'souvenir' membership cards to get in and now eed to download the app. I'm generally pretty good with technology but getting across all this shouldn't be so difficult.

I just noticed his on club's website. "Please note, for general admission members please ignore the sec, row and seat that appears with your barcode. Your general admission membership gives you access to any general admission areas which are communicated at the ground on game day". mobile-ticketing I guess that means GA members can sit in any seats that aren't allocated. @WalkingCivilWarThe above might be of interest for seating choices. @JV7I hope this clarifies my earlier posts a bit further.
-
Further to my post above, I'm not sure what happens for GA members at popular games where there have been a lot of pre-bookings (seat allocations) and GA seating choice may be limited. For those games pre-booking may be necessary but am not familiar with that process. Others may have more info.
-
Welcome to the confused members group 🙂! As I understand it once you are in the ground you can sit where you like in the GA area. If you are a member there is no need to pre-book tickets but you will need to scan the digital ticket/barcode (in the mfc app) for each of the family to get in. I hope I'm right with that last para as I passed the same message to others today...

I also came unstuck at step 6. After step 5, I could see the same screen as the middle image in your post. No bar code and the options at the bottom of that screen were not active. I rang the club this morning and after 45 minutes on hold learnt that the barcodes hadn't been released yet, even tho the email said it would be 72 hours before the game ie last night. They said the barcodes would be released in the next day or two. It would have been helpful to not say 72 hours or send an email today to update the time line. I suspect there were a lot of members on hold for 45 minutes (or more) and clogging up the phones with the same question. I'm not sure this is the club's doing as I believe they are following an AFL system. Will post on here when I see advice that barcodes have been released. Hope this helps.

As I understand it you won't have to do the QR scan; just continue to show your digital wallet. Not everyone has a digital wallet so some people will still need to QR scan to show vax status. I think the government press info used the term 'QR scan' as a generic phrase to say people need to show their vax status/certificate (which can take several forms). Also, the government prefers we still QR scan even tho data isn't used but most people have stopped doing so unless they have to.
-
A digital vax certificate/a green tick appears on your phone once you have QR scanned in. The person simply looks at your phone. As @binmanposted it is requirement at bars and restaurants and numerous othe venues. I would assume the 'venue person at the G' will be the person on the turnstile or security checking your bag. Someone might tell us what happened re vax status checking in December when the club held its GF re-enactment at the G. Just noticed @Fork 'em's post. I guess is the event he is referring to, or maybe it was the cricket?
-
The QR scan shows the vax status on your phone which is what the person on the door looks at to let you in (or not). Those without the vax status linked to the QR system can show paper proof of vax to enter. For these people there is really no need to scan the QR code. Yes, AFL venues will ask everyone to show digital (QR scan) or paper proof of vaccination.

Not sure if you are thinking the info goes to the website of the establishment being entered. Just to clarify, it is forwarded to the government's website that they once used for contact tracing, not the website of the establishment being entered. Huge privacy issues if that was the case.
-
It looks like we have a clean bill of health for this game. From AFL website: "You could forgive the slight panic when Charlie Curnow limped off with a knee injury late in last Thursday's practice game, but the star young forward wasn't even sent for scans – such was the lack of concern from within Carlton. Jack Martin and Lachie Plowman should play in the AAMI Community Series, after both missed the win over St Kilda due to training loads, while Sam Docherty is a strong chance to feature in what would be a remarkable comeback from a secondary reoccurrence of testicular cancer. Harry McKay and Tom De Koning are outside chances to return, but should be OK for round one regardless". No mention of Salem so safe to assume he is fine to play. But if he is a bit sore he may be rested .

It seems we will need to sign in with QR codes, not for contact tracing but to show proof of vaccination; see the bottom half of this article why-qr-codes-are-still-needed-to-go-to-the-footy Essentially: “You still have to be vaccinated to go to the footy. Your QR code, you show your phone, and you demonstrate you’re vaccinated. It’s the same in restaurants, it’s the same in pubs, but it’s no longer the case in places like supermarkets or other retail settings because you don’t have to be vaccinated to go into them.” ...People without smartphones can show a paper copy". So anyone who is not vaccinated will not get in.
-
To clarify the last sentence: that may be the case for MCC members but not for the general seating area. Walk up tickets will be available for all games this year at all venues, if the game isn't sold out. So @Deemented Are Go!you can get tickets at the gate 'like the good old days' but for big games you may find tickets are sold out beforehand.

Current 'state of the nation': It all hinges on the dees vs freo and North vs Lions game this week! We must beat Freo for 2nd spot. Otherwise we lose it to Freo or Lions if they have a good win over North. Lions have built up a fabulous % by thrashing lowly sides. They will be desperate for that 2nd spot and the benefits that go with it.

Yeah, kinda difficult forecasting one year let alone a few. If 'successful' means consistently making finals, all the teams you mention are in the frame. If it means consistently top 4/premierships it is anyone's guess. fwiw, I think he will stay: Some telling conversations on G&G: after the 2020 hub Gus said he wanted to move in with his long term partner, Danielle but she declined. In the most recent G&G he said they are moving in together. Also, Gawn asked him (somewhat tongue-in-cheek) if he had left the 'bayside' area this summer!!! Well, yes to go to Casey...and visit his Godson, George Gawn. Those conversations suggested he is anchored in Melbourne so if he left the Dees he probably wouldn't go far and not without Danielle. In proximity of the 'bayside' area: Saints, Hawks, Pies, Tigers.

Can't say that I am as downbeat as that with Richmond and Geelong as they have a bit of talent coming through; its about managing the transition. But lets say they do struggle then some currently not so successful clubs will become so. Genuine question: which do you consider to be successful clubs in the next 2-5 years.
-
Not sure I would assume only struggling clubs will be interested. I suggest Richmond and Geelong would have a very good look. Both will have highly paid players retiring in the next few years so will have money to splash. An added attraction to all clubs is he is an RFA so they don't need to give up draft picks. Not making a case for him to go but just saying he will be an attractive get for any club.

GAMEDAY: AFLW Rd 08 vs North Melbourne
Lucifers Hero replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
Beat Freo (in Perth) next week and we virtually have 2nd spot (and a pre finals bye, Home finals) sewn up. iirc we beat them in Freo this time last year so we can do it again. If we do it will be our best chance at a flag altho Crows will be hard to beat in Adelaide in a GF. -
Including Instagram For Instagram we rank 11th which is probably closer to our membership ranking. Not sure how to get fb figures without loggin into each club's fb page.
-
Parish is overrated at # 22 as it is based on 2/3 of last season when other key mids (Shiel and McGrath) weren't playing. He will be a good player but needs to put in that performance for a few years to deserve a ranking in the top 3% of players.
-
Just for the heck of it I extracted each team's Twitter follower stats: I recall that a couple of years ago our figure was approx 40K. So 70K is a big improvement. However, we are right down the ladder across the AFL. It is a bit disappointing given we have just won a flag. Our figure may reflect our fan demographics ie much older fans who typically don't use social media. Nonetheless, it says we have work to do to win over a younger generation.
-
The question isn't if he should play in our midfield. It is: if he harbours a role in the midfield he will get it elsewhere and he may just take it rather than spend the next 5-7 years on the wing. There aren't many clubs that wouldn't chase him for their midfield. His dees teammates will always be his teammates and he will always be part of our drought breaking premiership team. It just depends on how he sees his career panning out. Still, hope he stays.
-
The run home: the-run-home I have summarised the scheduled for ease of comprehension (8 pt games in red): My thoughts: I reckon Adelaide has top spot sewn up so am hoping they beat Freo this week. All top 4 teams will win their round 10 games. Unfortunately not gaining big % boosts vs lower teams has cost us ladder position (again) as other top teams have gained that boost. So, to claim a Home final and have a pre-finals bye we need to finish top 2 which means beating North and Freo. If I have the finals sequence right, to avoid Adelaide until the GF we need to finish 2nd or 3rd.

I think it took a lot of people time to wake up to and acknowledge the role Gus was playing. People saw the role thru the prism of how Langdon plays it rather than the 'defensive' wing he was asked to play. It is worth watching replays of the early games. From very early on he was rolling back to help the back six, intercepting the ball for a throw in rather than taking possession, not trying to take marks, holding his field position, staying in his lane and playing the team game. All things one would think would be rewarded in the coaches votes (not to mention sacrifice). He was never going to get stats, 'be noticed' or have a highlights reel.
-
Jack Niall is also of the view that Gus' decision will be highly influenced by whether "His defensive wing role limits him showcasing and using his talent. Is it satisfying enough for hm? Does he want to be a role player for another 5-7 years... A different (midfield and perhaps a leadership team) role might be enough to entice him away". Quote is from my post on page 1 of this thread. Niall's article is here: a-career-decision-brayshaw-doesn-t-need-to-stick-with-demons. An interesting comment from Niall: "Brayshaw was 14th in the club best and fairest last year. If his sacrifice was widely praised, and he has a premiership medal to show for it, one could imagine that he would be stung slightly by that ranking of 14th by the coaches". To me it isn't that he was 14th but that his score of 332 was less than half that of the winner and well outside the score for the 10th spot with 408 votes. Given that our BnF scoring is independent of another player's performance one wonders what the coaches expected of Gus to rate him so lowly. Assuming Oliver re-signs, the earliest a mid-field spot will come up is 2025/6 by which time he will be 29/30. In his early years he was touted as captain material, voted our most courageous player by his teammates in 2021, has footy smarts and is talented. I wouldn't hang around on a wing for the rest of my career if I could get role that better suited my talents and career goals.

PRACTICE MATCH: vs North Melbourne Streamed LIVE on Kayo
Lucifers Hero replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
It will be good to see some footy again but the result means little: 2021 we were absolutely thrashed by the Bulldogs in the preseason and then, the rest is history!
