he was out of contract… and we offered him a three year deal. So while I disagree with the use of the word “ easily” I’m spewing too.

To trade Oliver for next to nothing would have torn the club apart. We get another year of a way healthier version ( I hope) and if we handle it well throughout the year will get way better value IF it comes to it. I’m relieved.

so....all of Trac, Pickett and Oliver likely leaving this year or next. Followed in the coming years by the retirement of big Max and JV. And the possibility that Caufield turns into nothing. Its like a welcome back to 2013....re remembering the foot of the ladder and being the brunt of the media and other supporters jokes. We had a nice short holiday at the top . but this is a fall thats as dizzying in its speed and drama as was winning the flag in 21. On the flip side. We did win that flag....and for a 50 plus year supporter that is no small thing. Its a piece of joy I never thought Id get. I for one will continue to buy memberships and support the club as fiercely, if not more than, I always have ...and hope we may re organise in some way to make our rise faster than it was back then.

any review should also explore how and why our club is leaking like the frikn titanic.

I don’t know details but if the dees are looking to offload perhaps the best player I’ve seen since flower in the red and blue then I’m pretty sure it wasn’t “ what 80% of 26-7 year olds are doing” . It may be a choice between trac and oliver… i don’t know. Honestly speculation is pointless. Just saying that pointing at Trac is easy and I think we’re all seeing now the issues he was pointing at have been running quite deep.

We can sit around and blame Trac for this…but it looks more and more likely he was drawing a line in the sand that needed to be drawn. It we want to point fingers it should probably be in the Oliver direction. And the fact we let managing him get so out of hand.

Well, that was a short stay at The MFC coach making factory. Obviously a good football mind but , perhaps through the weight of circumstances, we didn’t get to see much of it or much of anything good anyway. I don’t mind the thought of a clean break and a new face …. just hope we can land some quality.

What was Olivers intensity of training like. I know he finished his season off with a variety of injuries including a PCL...was he running ok?
