Footy clubs are like life - they are great, and then terrible, and then great, and then terrible. Look at Richmond. Perennial losers until they weren’t. When you spend time in the wilderness it only teaches you one thing - don’t be here again. I’m enjoying the highs so much because I know the lows. That’s the lesson, and the lesson is the reward.

I’d say he’s right. The Brownlow is often won by a midfielder who had a good year in a side where teammates don’t take too many away from them. Wines is a great player, but does he swing games the way the other 5 can? Ditto Sam Walsh.

Also, that reel really proves that we have been the best side all year. The scores are always close, or in our favour. Our biggest deficit in a game came in a game we won (44 points Geelong Rnd 23). I also think our second biggest deficit for the year was against Brisbane (24 points), which we also won. Anyone know if that’s correct? The losses were tighter and sealed at the end against Collingwood, Bulldogs and GWS. That is an insanely good season of football. I don’t think we knew it while it was happening, because we couldn’t believe it yet.

Trade week. I’ve never seen so many media pundits write so much about so many unexciting fringe players. Callum Coleman Jones swaps places with Robbie Tarrant! What next? I won’t be able to sleep.

I find it interesting that he lists Bedford as a potential A/B, but Chandler as a ‘needs more time’. I feel like he’s making this up as he goes. I doubt very much he knows much about either. All of that is relatively excusable, except for the fact that this is his actual job. If I was this bad at my work I’d get fired (and I work for myself).

I hope Luke gets a good run at it. I don’t think he’s been happy for a while at the Saints, and he probably watched Ben Brown in the finals and thought ‘I’ll have a bit of that’. Cost us nothing, covers a hole in the list perfectly. Well done all.

Arrogance isn’t rooted in fact. It’s not arrogant to believe we are the greatest football team of any era. Watch the last minute of the third quarter and try disprove it. 😉 I think we can be as arrogant as we want as long as it’s done in good humour. Footy fans are genuinely good natured and love a laugh. I’d imagine most would encourage us to carry on like pork chops while we can. We’ve earned it, and they know it.

Such a great point, and it’s all been made even more important with the lack of footy for developing players over the last 2 years. We play a system at all levels, and the better it’s mimicked at Casey the better it is for everyone.

Good idea for all. I’m assuming his playing payments come from a separate pool, which means he earns more and it doesn’t hurt their soft cap for more than a part time role - yet will spend a good amount of time in the job. He’s got a bright future Nev. So happy for him.

Number 1 is a casual 7 years passed his best. Number 2 won’t be there for the first 5-6 weeks of 2022 if there’s any justice. Number 3 only shows up when he wants, and if there’s not a stray teenager on offer. So yeah, not a great list.

I am entirely convinced that Melbourne loaded heavy after the bye, and the Bulldogs loaded heavy running into the finals. Both were the better teams all year. Geelong have skewed data because of their home ground. No season is perfect, but ours was as close to perfect a finals series as you’ll get. It was remarkable. The only game we looked in for a battle in we won by 74 points.

I’m watching the Prelim on Fox now too. With 10 minutes to play in the 3rd the commentary is ‘what an amazing 16 minutes by Melbourne’. And to think it got better. Ridiculous. We have been blessed to see this team.

I really like it when people do bad puns featuring players names. Pick a player, make a pun. Eg. Hung, Gawn and Quartered Technicolour Gawn The darkest hour is right before the Gawn The Thrill is Gawn The dumber the better please.

After North offered him that contract they treated Ben very, very poorly. That’s worth a lot more than you can know - until you are free of that situation. I make about half of what I was making a few years ago. I love what I do now. I’m happier, more focussed, and feel like I offer more than I did in my previous job.There’s no amount of money that could get me to go back to my previous job, because I was treated poorly. Besides, my hips don’t have the flexibility to get back on the pole now anyways.
