Prendergast is on record as saying he didn't even speak to anyone other than Trengove and Scully. I hope we have cleaned the place out of all Prendergast's recruiting staff and anyone who worked with him, or had a role in hiring him. Out of interest, how does the "list manager" Harrigton still have a job? The saddest thing is that the 09 draft probably hasn't decimated the club as much as the 2008 draft has. You could have thrown darts at the top 35 names and come up with a better result than Watts, Blease, Strauss and Bennell.

Three players can trigger team form.

Jack Grimes one below a superstar? Wow. Love his endeavour but he's another ordinary kick with no pace. B grade midfielder at best. -
Why did you give Jamar 3 years? Why did we recruit Dawes, Pederson and Gillies when it is our midfield that is easily the worst in the AFL? Did we make a play for Caddy, Jacobs, Young, Stevens, Goddard or any midfielders aside from David Mackay last year? Do you regret turning the whole club upside down in your first year as coach? In hindsight would you have been better off just gradually tweaking/emphasising defensive aspects, rather than turning everything on its head? It seems we did a few things well in 2010 in particular, and now we can't do anything well.

We were saying he was 'yesterdays man' back in 2007. He's since created a hard, no-nonsense list at GWS that already show more competitive fight than we ever have. I would take Sheedy or Mark Williams (ruthless, Premiership Coaches with c**t in them) in any capacity we could get them. Sheedy could be a $500k a year interchange bench and development coach for all I care. It is a terrific call by Barrett.

Another article , why let facts get in the way of a story

The recruiting has been PATHETIC. Gysberts not the clubs fault!?!?! He was the epitomy of a wasted draft pick. A real Prendergast special. 'We felt like we needed some height in our midfield' so we took a 190cm twig that has no endurance or kicking skills with pick 11. Staggering. -
What a huge disappointment Taggert is becoming. A 2nd round draft pick that's in his 2nd year in the system should be beating down the door in such a lowly side, and he can't even get in the bests in the VFL reserves.

Injury List - Round 2 (Dawes Hammy)
Watts Jurrah Dunn? replied to Gorgoroth's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dawes will be ok and I think Dawes, Hogan and Clark will be one of the best tall forward combinations in the game, but i cant help but wonder what sort of a midfielder we could have got with pick 20 in trade week last year... -
Would someone be able to tell me why, at every kick-in, Frawley, a 6 ft 5" gorilla that would be a pretty handy marking target, sits in the back pocket waiting for the quick kick in? He is close to the worst kick at the club and rather than providing a marking target on the opposite flank to Jamar, he sits in the pocket and tries to get involved as a distributor of the ball. The opposition must lick their lips. I go yesterday and watch the likes of Burgoyne and Mitchell wait in the pockets for the Hawks. It is Under 10 stuff.

How many MFC players are of AFL standard
Watts Jurrah Dunn? replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
The only players that would get a game at a top 8 side are: Jones Watts Frawley Clark Sylvia Blease Howe Even grimes as a midfielder is not up to it. Too slow and has zero penetration in his kicking. The club will go no where with a midfield including jamar, Mckenzie and grimes. No where. -
MELBOURNE v PORT ADELAIDE - PREGAME
Watts Jurrah Dunn? replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gee Pederson and/or Sellar will have their work cut out against Lobbe. That Port side without Casissi, Butcher, Thomas, Ebert, Gray, Carlisle, Pearce and Chaplin looks awful, but once again it will probably be decided in the midfield. Boak v Mckenzie Cornes v Jones Hartlett v Sylvia Broadbent v Grimes Must break even here, and must nullify Stewart who kicked 4 in Darwin last year. -

NAB CHALLENGE: GOLD COAST SUNS v MELBOURNE
Watts Jurrah Dunn? replied to Gorgoroth's topic in Melbourne Demons
Missing Bock as well mate. -
When Jamar and McKenzie line up at a centre bounce we are almost 2 players down once the ball hits the deck. Staggering to think they were both signed last year for 3 more seasons. I don't have him anywhere near my best 22 as he is an extremely limited footballer, but we all know he'll be there. RPFC is right in that there is no one forcing him out of the side yet, and gifting games to kids was what got us in this predicament. Hopefully this new batch of kids are different and the likes of Kent, Tynan and Taggert work hard enough at Casey to force Jordie from the team by season's end. Also, I'd like to see Nicholson played in a run-with role on the faster midfielders. Will have no problems matching them for speed and endurance. I know he can't kick either but at least he's quick, got good evasion and takes the game on.

NAB CUP 1: NORTH MELBOURNE AND RICHMOND
Watts Jurrah Dunn? replied to rpfc's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well said. I think 5 possessions from Rodan are worth about 20 from Mckenzie. He can't run, can't kick. Sadly grimes isn't far behind him. It's a pedestrian midfield. -

If you can't hit a target when the pressure is down then what hope do we have when the pressure is on in round 1? Garland, Frawley, Nicholson, MacDonald, McDonald, Magner, McKenzie, Grimes, Couch etc aren't going to suddenly be kicking well in round 1. Mickey Mouse is a cop out. These players are playing for their careers. It not though we played finals and had a delayed start to the pre-season. We've been training since October haven't we? -
Colin Garland - Time to get it right!
Watts Jurrah Dunn? replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Make or break season for Garland. I've been willing to cut him (and Frawley) slack over the past few years as the ball has been pumped in there so many times under no pressure from our midfield, but it's time for him to step up. I wish he and Frawley would stop trying to be link-up men and create play and would leave that to the ones that can kick. Stop sitting in the back pocket for the quick kick-in Colin! Sadly I think these two might have been infected by the Bailey era and don't defend like their lives depend on it. Like McKenzie though the coaches adore him, seem to turn a blind eye to his kicking and he'll be in the leadership group again next year. -
NAB CUP 1: NORTH MELBOURNE AND RICHMOND
Watts Jurrah Dunn? replied to rpfc's topic in Melbourne Demons
Daniel currie has done more in 1 nab cup game for north than jake spencer has done for us in his 5-6 years at the club. Why do we hold onto spencer for an eternity and clog the list when we could take a more-than-capable ruckman with a late or rookie pick? -
NAB CUP 1: NORTH MELBOURNE AND RICHMOND
Watts Jurrah Dunn? replied to rpfc's topic in Melbourne Demons
Spencer played ok? Did he touch it? What did Davey do? I could pick on plenty mate because at the end of the day we are no good and appear set for another season of amateur turnovers from Jordie Mckenzie and more brain dead decisions like Frawley taking kick outs. Not many of them are any good. -

Great to see Aaron hug Morris post match as though he was a brother, when he'd just been owned by him for 40 mins. Another joke. -

Did spencer touch the ball? How much longer does this experiment have to run for? Surely he should be touching the ball by now. "Oh but we should persevere cos dean cox was unco at first". Please stop this joke. -

You're kidding mate? 192cm, 95kg and gets rag dolled by a 22 year old in Vickery. Weak as [censored], Lynden, and almost as embarrassing as Spencer. -
FB: Jetta Frawley Garland HB: Watts McDonald Dunn With a Toumpas/Tapscott/Strauss floating around half back/wing to help Watts set things up.
-
HF: Blease Clark Pederson FF: Davey Dawes Byrnes 3 talls, 3 smalls. The 3rd tall lead up forward is dead so this should give 3 blokes that, at the very least, will crash packs and halve the contest, and 3 smalls to crumb and tackle. Howe's goal kicking is too poor to justify a spot forward. Use him on a wing where he can use his engine and marking. I would also not be unhappy with Nicholson being used as a defensive forward on the Yarran's, Deledio's. Looks like he might be squeezed out of the backs but I hope his pace, endurance and flair aren't lost all together.
