Also need to look for one of the class young rucks in WA not yet established and throw a bit of cash at them. A bit like Mumford at Geelong.
-
Been saying this since we picked him up, a great get and will be one of the top mids in the comp in the next few years. Not doing bad for 17 games.
-
N Jones (pick 12) and Tyson (pick 3) were both first round draft picks.
-
Would rather Tony Lockett. Because we have had such a poor midfield I can understand where you are coming from but with Tyson and Viney led by Jones, Vince and Cross...Salem to come, yes we are on our way. With half reasonable drafting from here on we will top that list up, it's the really good talls that are hard to get. This draft offers some good prospects.

I like to call him other things.

Jack Trengove out for year with navicular fracture

As is his right and it can be repeated if it's on a public forum. I'm not comfortable with a treating professional giving his take on it though without permission. I think you have made a mistake here 'Webber' , we all do. Lets move on. -
We will need another couple of good talls. This draft will provide, the midfield is on the way and we will add more to it.
-
Plowman looks good. Pick 4 and pick 9????

Do we only get the one game again 'Jack'?

Brett Kirk - Roos' successor?
rjay replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
No, his biggest failing was people management. The fiasco you talk about is tied in with it, he wouldn't take advice. The ego got in the way, and apart from that I don't find him a deep enough thinker of the game. I wouldn't like to see him at Melbourne. -

Not just the game 'Sat' it appears to be the modern world and as you know it's not just kids. As for Tyson, I was happy for us to pick him up and he hasn't let me down. Will be a champ. -
The only ones I really take notice of are coaches just out of the game and some current coaches when being candid which is not often. They have a better handle on it than players and the older coaches like Mathews and the like have been out of it too long and are either guessing like you or I, or because they have a platform make controversial statements to keep the platform.

Oh well...that's the way it goes. Tyson looks a future Brownlow chance to me. Looks like it could be at this early stage. -

Pretty good compliment for a kid lining up in his 17th AFL game. -
Mackie and Enright bring height and aerial ability to the game. JT is very weak in this area, if you don't have pace then you need to have other aspects.

Who cares? when leaders needed to step up on Saturday Jones and Grimes stepped up. Anyone at Carlton???Murphy???Gibbs??? anyone....
-
It says he never had the talent many thought he had to play league football.
-
I think that's a pretty good summation.
-
Early call on other early calls. This season will tell the tale.

Tyson is probably leading our B&F at the moment so I reckon he is going ok.

Funny thing is the commission was brought in for the betterment of the game, the problem in the past being that the clubs were all about there own self interest. The commission was meant to be above this and could make clear and correct decisions no matter what the club interest was. Pretty weak commission this one, a lot of self interest being served by the commissioners not for the betterment of the game. There are too many commissioners with strong club affiliations and also some who are conflicted by doing business with the AFL for this commission to work as it should. Don't expect to see too much press (media) about this, another area of self interest.

Warnock is useless around the ground but will kill Spencer in the tap outs, let's hope they're not to advantage. Wet day worries me with our possession game, wet weather football is about metres gained not possessions. Tyson & Cross will be very important players in the conditions.
-
Not really...
-
Only one side has a Gary Ablett type...one of the all time greats. I get your point re training and I think Cross is a really good pick up in this regard. He gets the most from himself and leaves nothing on the track during training or on game day. Always gives 100%. It would be nice to have a superstar to go and watch though.

Add picking the right players and I completely agree with you. As a club we pretty much prove the point here, but a well run club having a choice of top end talent will set itself up for the future. I hope we are in this position now, an extra top end choice will help.
