Look I understand it is more that just that but those clubs were able to take advantage of the situation that prevailed at the time. Roughy/Buddy, Pendles/Thomas were really important acquisitions in the premiership race for their clubs. Scarlett, Hawkins, Ablett for Geelong key players in that clubs success. Now those clubs are on top the climate has changed with free agency and player movement and again those clubs are taking advantage. ...and how else do you get players apart from draft picks or trading. You're right there, the clubs that will be interested are those desperate for a KPP. I guess that brings Adelaide into the mix and a couple of others. Of course if Frawley goes then we would be deperate for KPP's.

Sorry 'Redleg', it was all our own doing. We were supposedly at least a year ahead of Richmond in the rebuild and it would have had us pushing top 4 about now if we had handled it properly. Unfortunately we had the wrong people running the club and they totally stuffed it up. Because of our failure to do the job properly it put us right in the middle of the new club introductions and compromised drafts and that's why we're where we are now. We had a small window of opportunity and we blew it badly. The Tiges will never get to top 4 with their list partly because of the new teams, it has meant they have missed some of the cream to top up their list. It doesn't run deep enough.

This has been a long thread, a lot of guess work by all and arguments about Mitch, his mental health and his value to the club. Some have gone off at others for not taking into account mental health issues, there have been those that think the club needs to cut ties and not fulfil obligations. Has Mitch fulfilled his obligations. The only thing I know is that he injured his foot a couple of years back and hasn't been able to get back on the park. Everything else to me is unfounded speculation. Even those backing Mitch and his battle with depression don't really know the problem or indeed if it is a problem. We need to be careful here, I keep having this nagging Jonathan Trott feeling.

No, that's good. I wasn't clear on what you were getting at earlier. I'm not blaming these 2 at all for their timelines but I do think it would help the club if we had a longer term commitment. I must admit to being surprised at the depth of the problem and thought the list could at least be competitive under Roos. I was wrong. For the club to survive, and I do believe now we are in serious danger then I think PJ and Roos need to make a commitment to getting the club on track. A time commitment of at least until the end of 2016 would help stabilise things and give a little breathing space.

The playing group is not good enough. The club has been mismanaged for years, if we let Roos and Jackson waltz in and out then it is more evidence of mismanagement.

You actually talked a lot of jibberish about upturned cars and contextualising so I wasn't sure what point you were making. What do you think the club should do?
