  1. I see it pretty much the same 'Machsy' unless he is exceptional, Rioli exceptional with a bigger tank and great hamstrings. Sitting on the fence about trading out at the moment, depends where we finish. Would have loved McCartin with Hogan but winning beats a number one draft pick so I will take that. Do we factor in the chances of Stretch later in the draft and Lovett in the following draft? Wouldn't mind adding some tall talent to the list.
  2. I don't see anything harsh in the comments nor do I see it as players need a kick up..or whatever. It's just a single paragraph report on players in games most of us don't get to see and more often than not the ones who do see it have differing views. If the reviews were personal attacks on the players then I would have a problem, they're not. They just spell out what is expected of performance and I'm sure the players get a lot more detail and instruction. There's nothing out of school here and I sure hope the people having a good whinge don't spoil it for those of us who are interested. It's good to get the FD view. I found the reviews of past seasons absolutely offensive in that they took us for being fools. The players aren't being precious but some on this forum sure are.
  3. ...and that's the point I'm making, it's what the club can do for the player exhibit one Dom Tyson. It's not local footy where you come and play with your mates.
  4. I prefer the current system now that the reports are real. I couldn't stand the puff pieces of the past.
  5. The Tyson one I'll give you but the other 2 were hit into the centre of the square, nothing fortunate there.
  6. He was a near certainty, they just couldn't get the deal done. I think they will be reviewing that one as a poor decision, the Tiges that is. Judging by a few posts it seems because Dom came from GWS then his mates will want to join him. I'm not sure that's a compelling reason and who knows which players are his mates anyway. There is a good reason to join us now though and that is the development and opportunity you would get at Melbourne with the quality of Roos, Stone and Allison and onfield leadership now in place to help grow a career.
  7. I thought you were giving Clark's job description.
  8. I like the look of Tomlinson 'Machsy' but so far I've seen nothing in Plowman that would put him in the class of Tyson going just on their GWS games.
  9. Seriously...the coach says he has a problem with the defensive side of his game, I'll go with that. I sure hope Viv does to. You can reel off as many stats as you like but if he's not playing the role the way they want him to then he will need to adjust his game. I reckon he has a good future with us but he never had any problem playing at this level in the WAFL. Seems like you are a mate or family, if that's the case the best advice you can give him is to listen to the coaches, put your head down and work hard. The talent is there so lets hope we get those 200+ games from him.
  10. I would have this guess too.
  11. This was Viv's problem in his AFL games and probably why he struggled to get a game at Freo. He's got the right team on board to help him, up to you now Viv.
  12. Not really; who would you trust for the bests? Some clubman who's been asked to put in his bests after the game, or worse still a footy journo or Brett Allison? It really doesn't matter a whole lot, it seems the club are happy with how he's going.
  13. These are really good reviews for us the members and give us a good idea of who is close to selection and who still has work to do. Looks like Jordie is next in line but also that Dom Barry is playing his role which is a crucial ingredient in Roos sides, can't see him being delisted as some have called for if he keeps this up.
  14. We need a bit more height in the mids in my opinion but as 'Redleg' says, I'm happy to leave it to the FD.
  15. Their injuries tell a different story...over 30's getting toward the end. Prestia is a really good prospect but I don't think he suits our mix at the moment, and forget about Gaff, he's lucky to be getting a game at WC. If we're after more mids then we need height, strength and some leg speed.
  16. The media need a disaster each week to keep things ticking over. We were the disasters the last few seasons. I'm happy for us to end a few more seasons and be on this side of the fence. Next year we can worry about being taken as a "serious" team.
  17. Think it might be Evans instead of player x.
  18. Thanks 'Bob', it's good to get a few views on the game. I think one of Sam's biggest faults is he tries to do the impossible rather than do normal. He gets a lot of knocks on his kicking when he is in fact a very good kick of the ball, if he could just do normal he would be a good player.
  19. ...and I don't think they will be chasing him with serious money. They have their defence covered now and have a lot of mouths to feed to keep the team together.
  20. Thanks 'Sat'. I look forward to Brett's reviews, they give a good indication of where a player is at.
  21. I think the Hawks are possibly in a worse position than the Cats (past this year), they've got this year to get it done or they drop back. Too many over 30's now and they need to regenerate the list. As Nathan Buckley can tell Chip, it's sometimes hard to pick winners. Free agent 'hogan', there is nothing to get done.
  22. How was McKenzie's ball use 'Sat', was he trusting himself to kick the ball?
  23. 'steve' as you know the bests are not always a great indication and as you say numbers aren't either. It depends a lot on who gave them. Unfortunately for those of us who can't get to the games we have to go on them (numbers and bests) to some extent and reports from posters who were there.
  24. ...and a couple more mids with skill and a bit of leg speed, Frawley back and we would be well set.
