  1. I think he might have learned the Paul Roos game plan playing under Paul Roos but I get your drift. An inexperienced coach coming out of a bad system, I don't think so.
  2. Cameron definitely needs experienced help but I have heard that not everyone is happy with him. Now that's going to be pretty much every club, the old Barassi line of keeping the players who don't like you away from the ones who are undecided so make of it what you will. I'm not sure it's a great environment to be in and the current run of losses is not going to help. The AFL have stepped in already to replace the CEO, they might have missed their mark or only got part of it.
  3. I think if Ling is the choice then Roos will be official coach for 2 years then unofficial for a couple more, it would be a bit more of a reverse Longmire handover where Roos had really relinquished the role a year or 2 before telling anyone. I couldn't see him coming in from no coaching experience to head coach in 2 years.
  4. I will never forget the tears of joy streaming down the faces of our supporters that day in the outer at the Western oval when the Hawks won at Geelong and we were in the finals. What a great run we had that year and to think we might have another Lovett at the club in a couple of seasons.
  5. Roos & Stone would know this one, from the outside looking in he would be a good pick up for me but maybe his injury has left him with scars that he has struggled with. We could do with his size and leg speed though.

  7. The umpiring is a bit of a raffle at the moment 'Hood', thought there were a few either way that had me scratching the head. To be honest I think the umpiring this year is the most unpredictable I've ever seen. Evans/Campbell/Kennedy have a lot to answer for. As for next week, it would be a let down after playing to 52,000 this week and around 6,000 next. The top teams do what they do week in week out so let's see how they go about it. For us it's a real test.
  8. It's going to be really interesting to see how or if we can block their run and carry. We've done pretty well at stopping teams play the game on their terms. Can we do it against Port? I guess we will find out. Cross to Boak, Jones? Bail will probably track Broadbent who is their distributor out of the back half, Pittard is no 2 distributor but he does come unstuck more under pressure.
  9. Don't know about corrupt but it was very poor. The 50 was a joke. There was another earlier in the game where a player, I think it was Priddis was stripped of the ball and paid incorrect disposal against. It seems you can drop the thing out of your hands but if you are stripped of it....oh well, I just find the interpretation so frustrating...
  10. You're right 'Robbie', he was getting attention for something like that or maybe even a concussion. Kelly is going to be a very good player, we don't need to justify our trading by running him down. The jury is in as far as I'm concerned, we've done well out of the deal.
  11. So who is going to merge with GWS for them to come good and how are the Bears going now? Not saying the idea was wrong but they have gone about it the wrong way and it will take a few back flips to fix it. They tried this year by bringing in some senior heads but with the exception of Mumford they got it wrong again. Shaw, Addison and Hunt were all Bearslike recruits. They are really light on for experience in the coaching department and we know how well that doesn't work. Seemed like a good idea to bring in these player/coaches at the time, it's a failure. They need experienced heads.
  12. They got the wrong people in charge and went about it the wrong way, maybe not a disaster but poor effort built on snake oil.
  13. The biggest mistake they made is not controlling the club from the start. They put way too much faith in Gubby Allen and he had a different agenda. He sold snake oil to the AFL and they took it by the gallon. They sacked the CEO and put in their own man when things were going backwards but they only did half the job. If they wanted a presence then they needed it to be a good solid one, the recruiting strategy was aiming to win a flag early and it was wrong. They needed to bring in quality AFL level players and they didn't do it. The coaching appointments have also been a disaster to date. GC have gone about things with a solid strategy with Clayton from day 1 and you can't undersell the benefits they got from playing a year of VFL footy before coming into the competition. Also McKenna, even though he has had some tough times, is a really solid appointment. They also had Hinkley up there early in the piece. GWS have had 2 nut cases followed by a guy who thought he would get an armchair ride to the flag. The coaching appointment of Cameron was too smart by half.
  14. I think you've hit the nail right on the head here, he's had way to much influence and not for the better.
  15. I think we got the best one of the big 3...Patton, Boyd and Hogan if we can get him on the ground. The next one is McCartin for me but we won't get this pick.
  16. They're being very poorly coached at the moment. Yes their defence was undermanned but as a team they allowed Richmond to run out of defence and through the middle of the ground at will. Defensive pressure was non existent from their forwards and mids. An easy day at the office for Jack and the Tiges allowed to play the game on their terms.
  17. Go back and check my posts and you will see I did.
  18. Yeah, some of us were and Roos himself flagged in November that he would be a star. I reckon we have the people in place to identify the right players. They have some real problems up there and I'm not sure the coach is helping their cause.

  20. Tomlinson would be a good get.
  21. I think that's a key point 'Jack'.
  22. Also doesn't get a lot of the ball.
  23. Wouldn't give it up for either, but definitely not Gaff. Wider running patterns than Cale Morton.
  24. I see it pretty much the same 'Machsy' unless he is exceptional, Rioli exceptional with a bigger tank and great hamstrings. Sitting on the fence about trading out at the moment, depends where we finish. Would have loved McCartin with Hogan but winning beats a number one draft pick so I will take that. Do we factor in the chances of Stretch later in the draft and Lovett in the following draft? Wouldn't mind adding some tall talent to the list.
