Also could be that Roos thought Grimes was far and away the best match up for Griffen who has been running back into form. If Griffen really got away then it would have been match over much earlier. I'm just throwing things up 'titan', not agreeing or disagreeing but I didn't have the emotional investment of being devastated with the loss. I could see steps forward and liked what I saw. Yep, these decisions are both mistakes in my opinion.

The thing is we are judging this from a position of not knowing what Roos was trying to do here. He might have been working at developing Grimes defensive game. Roos has stated it's about learning at the moment and he hasn't started coaching (as in match day) yet.

John Butcher is a worse kick than Cloke without the pluses that he brings. No thanks. Tom Bell, goes hard but not sure he brings much more than his size. Bird is a handy player but has good players around him. Clarke is worth a shot.
