  1. I did. The big thing this year is what pick we get. What's available at that pick if it is in the top few is a KPF, last year there was one, Boyd. There are clubs absolutely desperate for a KPF it makes the currency of that pick extremely high for the right club. Think Freo, Collingwood, Carlton for a few, Freo and Collingwood have top quality mids who they would have to trade is they were serious. If we lose Frawley we will definitely need one ourselves from this crop. I would like to get Clarke but I don't see him as a top 5 pick at the moment and we could also make a play for one of WC's talls.
  2. No, very different. His exposed form was excellent and you may note that I've always been pro Tyson and have seen him as being a future A grader within the next couple of seasons. A few had a go at me for that. The players listed above (except Steven) are at best 2nd rounders. If we have a top 3 pick it will want to be for an A grader given that it will be for a KPP this year. Last year the trades were for mids, some teams are desperate for a KPF. To give them that they will need to pay overs.
  3. The only one of these worth a first round pick is Jack Steven.
  4. Zac Jones...just getting in early and stirring the pot a bit here.
  5. ...and while we're at it, how come some umpires are throwing the ball up and other bouncing (at centre bounces and not for re calls) it in the same games. Can't be the conditions and can't be allowed, they can't just make the rules up as they go....um....
  6. No, we've got all the teachers we need now. We need players, love Ryan and what he has done but he is done. 36 touches in a sub standard comp that I think Kolodjashij had 50 plus before they lost count is no recommendation. Having said that at least he is putting his name up and not giving it in like some past MFC player have and are doing. If we didn't have Cross then it would be a yes from me but we can't have the 2 of them now.
  7. Kent out suspended so pretty hard to get a kick. I'm sure he will be pushing for selection again pretty soon though.
  8. The players often can't hear the call, think they need megaphones. The umpires that is...
  9. ...but I think from a memory (not so good at the mo) that teams coming off the break struggled last year so may not be an issue.
  10. Rick Charlesworth?
  11. NHL???
  12. Either him or Aish would be my bet. ...be interesting to see how Scharenberg comes up, the kid can play and I was surprised GWS didn't go with him given they have a surplus of small medium mids. Maybe they didn't like the chances with the foot injury. Whilst I think the above, I like your story better. I think I will adopt that one.
  13. I agree the best way to tackle is to get the body into your opponents body but in these cases if he had of waited to get in position to use correct technique the player would not have been there. He showed desperation which is something we can't normally accuse him of. I'm not sure its core strength or knowing how to better use his body but there are times in marking contests where he needs to be stronger particularly against a smaller opponent. That was pretty evident against the GC a few weeks back...he has been better the last few weeks and it looks like Roos will get the best out of him.
  14. Those were lunging tackles where he managed to hang on. Watts showed real strength to hold those tackles, one was against Cooney who is very hard to run down and tackle. Well done to Watts, I thought it was the best I've seen him as far as commitment to contest and tackle. Roos is taking the right approach with him.
  15. There's a premiership team called Hawthorn who have a lot of players who always turn on their left. If you've ever watched Josh Gibson try and kick on his right it is one of the funniest things in football. Most players only go one way and their coaches encourage it. Tyson does have a get out on his right and has used it but will naturally go to his strong foot as all AFL players except Sam Mitchell do and as Sam Blease thinks he can.
  16. Not sure there's much in there 'Pennant'.
  17. It's ok I know you're not having a go. Just discussing the reasoning; it did seem odd after last weeks game from Grimes. Would really love to know why so just posting a few things that Roos may have considered.
  18. Could be one where Frawley goes back if fit and Dunn goes forward. Adds a bit of extra interest I would think.
  19. That's a pretty good call. I here that he's a bit of a perfectionist and hates missing targets. He will get much better as time moves on, his improvement in all aspects of his game so far this year has been good and he will only get better.
  20. Also could be that Roos thought Grimes was far and away the best match up for Griffen who has been running back into form. If Griffen really got away then it would have been match over much earlier. I'm just throwing things up 'titan', not agreeing or disagreeing but I didn't have the emotional investment of being devastated with the loss. I could see steps forward and liked what I saw. I'm happy for Roos to do what Roos does for now.
  21. Yep, these decisions are both mistakes in my opinion.
  22. The thing is we are judging this from a position of not knowing what Roos was trying to do here. He might have been working at developing Grimes defensive game. Roos has stated it's about learning at the moment and he hasn't started coaching (as in match day) yet.
  23. Salem does look good but I thought he got caught out of position a few times last night. That's to be expected with a kid who is yet to play a full game, it's probably time for him to step up now. Let's see him play a full game.
  24. He saved 2 goals through strong tackles, the wheel is turning...slowly I know but he did start to show a bit in areas we need him to.
