...but of course he will be a champion when he signs with us 'Sat'.

I'm hoping this will be a good appointment as I'm sure we all are. For those worried about negative inside mail from Collingwood people, we got the same negative stuff about PJ from the EFC people on his announcement. If Pert is as big a disaster as PJ has been I will be a happy man.

I hope not 'rp'...It's not only churlish but just plain wrong. I've just been watching a replay of the game and Tyson was clearly BOG and I didn't notice him waxing with Bugg. Just looked up the club site and the article was written by Ben Gibson, obviously the work experience kid...

There's no way Frost is a safe play...it would be a backwards step to me.

Oliver is 20 and by far our best mid, but of course he's not without his faults. I think he's drawing opponents pretty well when they have him in a tackle and he's giving off over the top.
  6. I'm just happy the club cancelled our proposed camp...no good can come of these things.

He's smarter around the ball than Viney and Jones. Collingwood, apart from Treloar don't exactly have an overly quick midfield. They used their numbers around the ball where we used ours at the ball.

Yep, and he has a great record against Port. ...but we must use him on the inside in place of either Viney or Jones and not leave him out on a wing.

Yep, it's why I think Goodwin's biggest rookie coach mistake was to make Jack captain too early. I love a lot of what he brings but to me he needed to mature as a player without the pressure of being a captain. I still stand by that but that horse has bolted. The FD are going to have to rein him in a bit.

There's a reason the trust isn't there 'Skuit' and I've mentioned it before. Jack doesn't give the ball off, he tries to do too much. Jones can be similar. Our best, most cohesive starting midfield 3 at the moment are Oliver, Trac & Brayshaw. Jack can only move into that grouping when he learns to be a team player. We're not the team of old that needs to rely on one mans effort to pull us out of the s...

Oliver is a smart footballer and by far our best extractor. I've noticed too many times this season (and have mentioned before) that others get in his way when he has the run of the ball. Viney just adds to this problem as he has tunnel vision around the footy. I like 'Pennants' idea of giving Trac a bit of on ball time, he's smart around the ball and more likely to clear some space. C/Wood worked as a unit around the footy, we worked as individuals. If you look at their on ball brigade it's only Treloar that has any pace, the rest are slow (Pendles) to average.

Tyson has a great record against Port and Boak in particular... Do we play horses for courses, his VFL form was good on the weekend?

Frost is not an option to my mind...Too many brain fades with ballin hand and gets caught badly out of position where he can't use his assets.
  14. They already are...

Don't see a changes thread yet and we've got a couple of weeks to dissect... Garlett for Spargo...the kids been good but we need some magic from Jeff and a bit more forward pressure. Weid for Pedders...Great VFL player Pedders and would have been a handy mark kick player in the 60's and 70's but he unbalances our forward structure and offers nothing in the ruck these days. I would bring Petty in and Goodwin may have to drop a mate in Bernie to make way...we need to develop another tall defender and the time is now. Like Pedders I think Frost can stay back at Casey, very much a VFL level player. Leg speed was a problem today but a big part of the problem was getting drawn to the honey...in the other recent games we have kept our composure and as follows our structure around the ball. Today was little league standard around the ball. What has that to do with selection...well, just wanted to get it out there. Also, although Hunt offers some leg speed his form hasn't been great so brining him in for that might be a mistake.
  16. Hey @DeeSpencer, I get your frustration and sometimes I felt the same today. I think we can only hold one of him and Vince from here on in, unfortunately along with Jetta they make us too slow against quick forwards and surging mids. As @Earl Hood says above the big problem today was the mids and I would add lack of defensive pressure from our forwards. Pedders throws out the balance and the kid gets run over too much at the mo. Probably time to get Hunt back in with Garlett, move Smith across to a flank or wing and bring in Petty...
  17. Viney - Opposite of Jenkins He's a big man in a small mans body...Jack needs to learn to change his first option from trying to barge through to bringing teammates into the game. He's not Patrick Cripps and it catches him out against good tough midfields. Jack will never be a good captain until he learns his game.
  18. @binman Still think Collingwood are no good?

Weid is a much smarter player...Pedders has lost his ability to halve contests when in the ruck this year. We may have to run Tommy Mac in there today as he's not giving us much at the moment.

...and his ruck work and work around the contest is why he's not...

I've had a feeling about this for a little while now. I rate Collingwood & Buckley, they've learned their lessons well. Could this game be the GF preview for 2018?
  22. Has Jennings played at the highest level? I know it's not always a popular view and there are great examples in other sports but I don't think a coach will make it in AFL unless they have. It's such a different game and culture that players will naturally listen more to someone that has done it. Bolton maybe finding this out the hard way now...

What is it with the Crows and player development... They do pretty well with defenders (Davis, Talia, Lever, Doedee etc), Mids (Sloane, Danger, Crouch boys)... ...but boy are the key forwards flakey...Tex, Jane, the other Jane went to Sydney mmm Tippett.

Richo's job is looking very shaky at the moment...
  25. Maybe Todd Viney steps into this role.
