Who Makes Way For Viney And Tommy
No, why would I be? Last year Tommy was a walk up start, it doesn't make it so this year. If Weideman comes in and performs well where does Tommy fit? We're not going to be taking 3 tall forwards into games and Tommy is a bit one dimensional.

Who Makes Way For Viney And Tommy
If Weideman gets his chance and takes it, the question would be where does Tommy Mac fit??? not who he replaces. To me he's not yet a guaranteed walk up start.

"Lapse or Lethal Dees"
Going by the results so far this year it's hard to say who the bottom dwelling sides will be with the exception of perhaps Carlton & even they had a run against the Tiges. I don't think any of our more astute supporters on this site believe we are playing great footy at the moment but if we stay in the race, work on our game &are playing our best footy in September that will do me & might even be good enough to win a flag. It's along season 'steve'...

Coburg Lions v Casey Scorpions - VFL Round 1
I don't think anyone said he wasn't a good VFL level player...but he's not an AFL level forward.
-
My 3 word player analysis v North Melbourne
Just because he kicked goals in the last doesn't mean it was the only time he was tried there. He has been rotating forward in the first 3 games as he did again against North. Good to see him hit the scoreboard yesterday, he will get better at the role.

Changes vs Hawthorn R4
I feel the same with Frost, as a player of course. Good VFL level athlete.

Changes vs Hawthorn R4
As I mentioned earlier, l think Pedders is done. To expand on that, he's not good enough to play as a forward and his role is as a running ruck. The only time I can see him being considered for selection is as a replacement for Max. Of course this is just my opinion but my reading of the tea leaves is that the FD experimented with Pedders as a key forward in the first 2 games & it didn't work. So for now it's either Weed or carry on with small forwards until Tommy is ready. I think & hope long term it's Weed...maybe just not yet.

Coburg Lions v Casey Scorpions - VFL Round 1
Been thinking this for a while though... If he is to make it maybe back is his position as the understudy for Nev...tough kid but doesn't seem to have the tricks or get enough footy to play as a forward/mid.

My 3 word player analysis v North Melbourne
20 disposals 2 goals & 6 tackles...not his best return but Jacobs has taken some big name scalps in the past. Clarry showed he can handle a tag, great composure for a kid.

My 3 word player analysis v North Melbourne
Would prefer Frost at Casey...we will struggle in big games if we need to rely on him, he's just not reliable. No football IQ. I hope Petty comes on quickly & Hunt finds form.

Changes vs Hawthorn R4
I think Pedersen is done. Weed is the option if he shows some form or we stay small until Tommy Mac is ready.

Round 3 Non MFC games
Time to watch something else...this game is boring me. ...but some quick notes. Dow is not ready for AFL. Bolton is being out coached by Buckley. Collingwood still can't kick to position but being made to look good. Kreuzer not fit/Grundy BOG Some of Blues young guns seem to be going backwards. Who knows what the rules of this game are anymore? seem to change by the week... Bolton in his last year. Murphy not a captain.

Coburg Lions v Casey Scorpions - VFL Round 1
Seriously, you don't play someone because you're scared they will leave if you don't. His opportunity will come and he will have to step up and take it...

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
According to the CEO of the distributing company the product has been on the market for 70 years so it's been more than fully tested on humans. Just not used in this way until recently.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
After hearing the chief of the company involved it seems more like the AFL playing funny buggers here. Everything seems above board on the company end, not sure what the AFL agenda is but he is getting the don't call us routine from Dill... Who would have thought.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Looks like another mess the AFL is involved in... I hope we aren't into this stuff yet. The company says it's approved the AFL chief doc say not. Will the AFL and clubs ever learn? https://smallcaps.com.au/afl-teams-paradigm-biopharma-pain-relieving-medication/ More in the Herald Sun that I don't have access to.

Gaming - we are out!
It just seems to me that the club has found a better way to do business going forward. I wouldn't be to worried about arguing the pros and cons of gambling revenue, as they have said it's not a core business. Invest in what you know, seems that's what we are doing. Jackson seems pretty astute to me, I can't see him giving away a revenue stream unless he has something to replace it that is at least on par and maybe better than what we have. I'm really interested to see where this all leads...

Coaches Box
That's the reason why the Clarkson experience is so relevant. He was criticised relentlessly early in the piece by many of the so called football experts for his game plan. Now he's praised as a visionary and one of the coaching greats. Goodwin is a very young coach, I think he has the right stuff to be an excellent coach even though I don't agree with some of his moves. I think he has made some basic rookie errors in his first few years but accept this is going to happen.

Coaches Box
There is a lot of premature speculation going on here. Everyone take a deep breath and read.... http://www.hawkheadquarters.com/article.aspx?articleid=2261

Coaches Box
Correct, it's part of a well thought out plan...a contingency.
-
Coaches Box
Completely agree with this 'steve'... The good teams have a plan, one plan not multiple and they perform it well. Of course there are contingencies within that plan as all good plans have. Our problem is not with the game plan it's in the execution. We're not playing good, consistent footy at the moment. That's ok with me, it's a long season and as long as we hang in we will be well positioned at the business end. Things will click, you can see it in patches.

Coaches Box
The major problem with Goodwin is he's a 2nd year coach. He's still very young in coaching terms, all coaches go through this. No one comes in fully formed...

Coaches Box
If you want to know if the coaches truly believe most of their work is done during the week & there is little to do on match day, watch what happens if you try to take their runner away. There was talk of curtailing the runners this year but the coaches were up in arms & it didn't happen.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Lehman has done the right thing in stepping down as coach. It's a pity Hird didn't do the same and accept responsibility for what happened on his watch. This whole business would have been done and dusted long ago if he had.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Thirded, for same reasons... The fat lady hasn't sung plus the cricket situation, the cultural implications & how it's being handled is very relevant to the EFC one.
