Hagdorn and Hardy 'Pennant'... To be honest the only solid news I believe out of WA comes either from you or one of the other posters who's name slips my mind at the mo...edit: 'Chook in Perth' (thanks 'Clint') ...and of course the news breaker ' @Ethan Tremblay'

He lays a strong tackle for a start. He's nothing like the others you've mentioned. He hits the pack hard and is not afraid of getting his hands dirty. As for stepping up now, he's the best option we've got. He will give it his best shot and that's all we can ask even though you would like to seem him morph into the 2nd coming of Carey overnight. I see similarities with Kennedy of the Eagle variety, I think he could get there. Again, unrealistic to expect that level yet.

That's a pretty harsh comment on a kid who's body is only starting to grow to meet the demands of AFL footy. Hardly yet built like Tarzan. He's been willing if not always able. I haven't seen him putting in the short steps and not having a go. At 21 he has time on his side. I jokingly refer to Jenkins of the Adelaide variety as Jane ('Nasher' doesn't like me doing it), partly because of the alliteration... but he's had years in the system and is built like a brick.... ...just he seems to like playing the small forward role.

I think you are talking about Heppell...

...and he kicked 4 in a tight game against the dogs. 6 against the Hawks last year...so... Spent more time in the ruck. Played a lot of footy in inclement conditions where you might even struggle to get a kick. Look, we're in a time where no one is kicking the big bags of goals. There's no Frosty Miller or Freddie Cook around these days, that time has passed us by. It's not the measure of a player now. Weid will fill a role and do it better than anyone else we've got at present. His time has come. Like it or not we need to know if he can step up in a big game and it might as well be now because if he can't then there's no point us being in finals just to make up the numbers. Better to have good intel coming into the trade/draft period. Hogan, Lever and Viney leave a big hole in our structure. As an aside, remember how Boyd was at the Dogs??? Couldn't catch a cold then suddenly turned it around at the end of 2016. You just never know.

I doubt it. The only risk to culture is if he takes up too much salary cap space, it will have nothing to do with the punch. Lewis is a serial offender and has been very lucky not to have caused more damage in the past...he's said to be a positive player in our development of culture. Gaff will be a big plus if he comes to us.

Hardly a Brayshaw free club...

That's a pretty decent advertisement for the order off rule...

Brendan McCartney & Cooney/Bulldogs situation
Some people are not cut out for the number 1 job... Macca has the runs on the board in development & that's what he does well for us. Keep up the good work.

Mark Neeld
I don't think Jimmy was that naive 'Earl'...he made some poor decisions and let his ego get the better of him. Jobs for the boys nearly killed this club. Bailey was an outsider. Probably enough of this looking back but it's hard not to get engaged. I still get very angry (and I'm not an angry person) when I think of the damage that was done by the people in control of the club at that time. In the words of the coach, it was a good learning experience (I hope) and we move on to the next game.

Mark Neeld
The people that went after Bailey...no names (you can work it out) were convinced the players were being molly coddled (probably some truth) and needed a bit of old fashioned discipline (overkill). Neeld in his haste and desire to pick up a senior gig was only too willing to sell the message they wanted then tried to carry it through. It was a rotten period in the clubs history and the blame should not be Neeld's alone. He was a symptom of what was wrong and very much the wrong choice by a club clutching at straws and wanting to hear what they wanted to hear. They had no idea. Thank goodness PJ came on board then Roos otherwise I don't know if we would have made it through...

I don't think he's up upgrade at all 'Red'... Just a small example of his work. "Mitch Wallis’ decision to ignore a short pass to Mitch Honeychurch and go longer to Gowers inside the last minute backfired, with his kick going out on the full and North then going coast-to-coast from the ensuing back pocket free kick." I think we will be looking at other avenues, he will be a good pick up for Carlton.

Thanks for your thoughts Adam... If you are thinking of trading Hogan in a deal for a free agent then you are highly overrating Gaff. A few might also be overrating Tommy Mac if they think we could do without Hogan.

What is this group speak/think you speak of? Don't confuse mob rule with a small bunch of posters who want to engage you back & forth. I see many varied opinions on Gaff and most topics on this forum. I hardly remember a consensus opinion on anything.

Realise that Tim is a Saints supporter for a start, I haven't found him to be WA biased. A bit of a screw loose at times...yeah. ...but I guess we wait and see on Gaff. I would be looking for the next player about to make his mark or not getting opportunity and targeting them rather than or in conjunction with a big fish type player anyway. I'm sure we are...Yeo & Dockerty were taken out of Brisbane and became pretty decent players. Maybe there is one at GC, I know the AFL wouldn't be happy but it's not our job to prop up GC. The Tiges have some small forwards maybe worth a shot.

New CEO - Gary Pert
By my reckoning we haven't won a game since he was announced as the new CEO. Looks like he's lost the players before he's even started.

New CEO - Gary Pert
I'm not at all sure he did mishandle the coaching situation at EFC...subsequent events would say they should have kept with Knights.

New CEO - Gary Pert
What are the inaccuracies?
-
New CEO - Gary Pert
Maybe he should approach them...interesting idea I know but I think it's his responsibility, not the other way around. That's what made Ian Dicker such an important figure at Hawthorn, he galvanised the supporters.

I don't see anything particularly wrong with the article. We can be a thin skinned mob at times. I am however p....off that ex board members seem to want to open their mouths again. To me they are total non entities after what they stood by and watch happen. There are misgivings about Pert from around the football community it seems and that's ok, as Caro says PJ didn't leave EFC with a clean skin. I'm not so sure about whether this Murphy fellow is a good or bad endorsement of anyone. That enquiry seemed a bit of a put up job and there was only ever 1 real boss at Collingwood, he escaped any real criticism. My personal feeling is that Bartlett has felt a bit left out in the rebuild and has been seen as a figurehead. There were rumblings about the relationship between him and PJ a few years back. PJ liked to run the ship and he ran it well. To turn something around like he has with our club there really needs to be only one person in charge...it can't be done by committee. Now, someone like Bartlett doesn't get to where he is in life without a substantial ego to go with it. Now was his chance, he couldn't move on PJ or whilst PJ was in the job as he had way too many credits in the bank. I've never met Bartlett but watching from a far I can't say I'm a fan. He doesn't seem to engage with the supporter group from what I've seem, maybe I'm wrong here. I just hope he doesn't let his ego get in the way and this appointment works well. Pity it was time for PJ to retire, another few years would have been good for us but I have a feeling not so good for Bartlett and his board.

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
The difference is you replace them with not quite as old guys who are better players now. That's why we look at Gaff, Murphy and co... You don't replace them with kids.
