Yep, we bring our game and we beat both of these teams easily...we're streets ahead of both. There is the stupid enough for you 'willmoy'????

I'm not sure the Saints are being brought down 'Wise'...I don't think they're much good in the first place.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
rjay replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Lehman has done the right thing in stepping down as coach. It's a pity Hird didn't do the same and accept responsibility for what happened on his watch. This whole business would have been done and dusted long ago if he had. -
THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
rjay replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Thirded, for same reasons... The fat lady hasn't sung plus the cricket situation, the cultural implications & how it's being handled is very relevant to the EFC one. -
Some of us thought it made sense last week too 'Artificial'... ...and others were w....................not correct.

Caro digs up old wounds of Camp Fiasco on eve of season.

Huge difference... Look at the support staff around Petty. This wasn't available at the other inferior camp. -
Not really, he had the odd good game as a forward but nothing to really write home about. Harry is an AA defender moved forward because they had no one else. Just because he moved there it doesn't make him a success at both ends.

If anyone still has the replay of the game check out when Oliver plays on with a couple of minutes to go and misses the goal... I know a few people have commented on it and wondered why (Including Taylor in commentary). I just had a look at the last few minutes to refresh my mind on what happened and as Oliver marks the ball an umpire calls play on (he did call it from the previous play but called again as it hit Claytons hands)and just as he does the whistle blows. Not sure if the same umpire that called play on also blew the whistle. Interested if anyone else hears the same thing and what their take on it was.

My thought is that we may only go with the 2 tall forwards as part of the game plan this year and one will have to ruck part time... That means that Weid will have to ruck to get a game because Hogan won't be. If he comes on this year then it will be interesting to see where Tommy plays.

Jordan Lewis 50 metre penalty - can anyone lip read?
rjay replied to Miracle's topic in Melbourne Demons
No point acting it if you don't. Everyone is different. When I played footy there were guys who looked like they hated losing but did F A on the ground when it really counted. All you can really ask for is 100% during the game...the faux hurt after the game is worth "jack" -

The idea of these camps and getting the edge is beyond stupidity.... ...I've got a novel idea, how about you recruit the right players put the right resources in place and then train them to play football. -
You are spot on 'old dee', it would make a mockery of last weeks selection if he came in. I really hope they do make a mockery as last weeks selection was wrong, he should of played. Lets hope Goody is not too pig headed and realises his error.

It may be how you phrased the question but there's no doubt you can't remain in the area once a free kick or mark has been paid to an opponent...

As a key defender...he hasn't grown up yet. The kid is a gun.

Plotting the downfall of Lever via AFL.com

Hunt hasn't progressed over the last year and is a concern for me at the moment. Probably has really struggled since that big whack against Adelaide. That and opposition teams have worked him out and over a bit... -
Not totally correct boys...although I do agree with the forward pressure comments but a big part of that problem was the structure which was all a... up. Hard to put on pressure when your 1 on 3... The "blazing away" talk isn't nonsense. Yes, forwards love getting the ball in quickly but that's when they have a one on one contest and even better when the ball is kicked to advantage. Not sure whether either of you were at the game but when we moved the ball forward our structure/set up was all wrong. We were out numbered and kicked to the advantage of our opposition. Our small/mid forwards were sucked to far up the ground and didn't get back quickly enough. For some reason we seemed to have everyone between the 50 metre arcs..not forward and not back. Geelong built their dynasty on the back of teams falling for this type of thing and although their star defenders have moved on we made it so easy for the incumbents. Even Nathan said last night we will need to look at our forward set up...this comment went a little under the radar but it was illuminating. To me it said Goodie (they had discussed it) realised we got it wrong here which is a good thing. Let's hope he fixes it... It's been a problem for a while.

The offence is also to remain in the area if you were there in the first place. You can't enter or remain in the protected area...
-
Not well written it should be "No player shall enter or remain in the Protected Area"... The penalty is not only for remaining but for entering the protected area, at least that is how the rule is supposed to be umpired. Without this rule a tactic was to cut the angle/option of the player with the ball by effectively creating another man or men on the mark to kick over. I think the intent of the rule is good but as with many AFL umpiring decisions the application is often found wanting...

Fritsch had 5 tackles...ANB, Melk & Hannan and Garlett had 5 between them. I think that tells a story. The new kid showed them up unfortunately.
-
Yet in the Casey practice game he was BOG so go figure...
-
...and he nailed Selwood a few times after this in some crunching tackles. Made him feel it. Joel was less than happy about it either.

Scoring efficiency is the big one for me 'Wise'. That's the number one thing we need to work on. It comes from our ball movement and positioning (structure). We can look at the inside 50's and we blitzed Geelong there , but I would prefer less inside 50's, better set up and more efficient. A lot of our inside 50's were cheap.... Inside 50's don't win games, hitting the scoreboard does.
-
Now 'Gonzo', you're better than that. That's not what I said. To expand. Our game plan is to move the ball quickly into the forward line and often it seems we do this at all cost hence bombing the ball. Toohey said in a post match interview that they know we try to move the ball quickly into the forward and they set up for it. Our game plan seems to be limited and doesn't cope well against a team that sets up as Geelong did yesterday. I'm not big in the "we don't have plan B" line of thinking but I do believe we need contingencies. We're a bit too one dimensional.
-
I hope we're past the bloke has a dip stage 'Wise' or we're heading backwards.
-
I question some of his judgement calls but that goes with the territory, he's still an immature coach. The problem with those 23 more inside 50's was the positioning of forwards and the bombing of the ball. The game plan fell well short when we moved forward, we need to provide and look for targets. Some times we need to finesse the ball movement a bit more and not just go full tilt. The Cats where waiting for it and it's what we gave them. It became easy for them to repel our forward thrusts...
