  1. Weideman is a natural footballer. He shows it when he's around the ball, very quick hands in close and usually makes the right decision. This is in addition to his ability in the air which will improve over the next few seasons plus he doesn't mind sticking a hard tackle.
  2. Adelaide play 3 & a half... Tex, Jane, McGovern & Lynch.
  3. My partner who knows nothing about football thinks he is scary...she can't stand him and switches off as soon as Tim appears. It's interesting to get a view that's in no way based on football or his part in it.
  4. David Evans biggest mistake was taking poor advice from prominent past player/s and replacing Mathew Knights...it all went down hill from there.
  5. Neither team put a lot of pressure on the ball carrier so that's not surprising. GWS are insipid tonight and allowing the Cats to walk around them. Anyway, have to be up early so time for bed and read a good book before nodding off...amazing I got past the first Q of this snooze fest.
  6. I like anyone that gets into Dill, he deserves all he gets but the Herald Sun has really been positioning itself up with the best of the British Tabloid press as of recent times (and maybe not so recent).
  7. Nah...if they get the game going quickly there will be less congestion and less ball ups around the ground. It never hurt the likes of Mick Nolan in the old days.
  8. The MCG is our home ground...it's not our fault every other club wants to play there. The rot started with Richmond now everyone wants in on the act. Moving from the 'G' would be the last straw... You are right though, we are on our last chance...Casey is apparently starting to work as far as new fans go, success now and we can start to replicate what the Hawks have done. Failure and we're done.
  9. I certainly hope not 'Lucifer'... Our home is the MCG, if we move a training facility to docklands it wouldn't take much imagination to see our home ground moving there also. Tennis Australia have big plans for the precinct around Laver, maybe we have a part to play.
  10. I don't remember this being the case with Geelong... I do remember it with the West Coast in the 90's though. In Geelongs case it seems to be guilt by association...the weapon and bomber.
  11. They are playing completely different roles. Smith is playing as a mid/forward & Weid a forward/ruck. Of course they can play in the same team & most probably will.
  12. When played deep opposition defenders would block his run ...which is what you are talking about. ..but he would pack up shop and do nothing to counter this and was done for the day. When played up the ground he was just a lazy footballer who would pick and chose when to go. He's grown up a lot at C/wood as a defender where Roos identified was his best position. He's not lazy now and works harder. Our man Fritsch works a lot harder to make position than Howe did and is a much better field kick and kick for goal. I don't think you can compare the 2 really 'Chaz', although I get where you are coming from.
  13. Would be there perfect addition to our list...
  14. Something I've noticed in the last couple of games. Not a knock, just an observation. Even though Oliver had 30+ against the Tiges he's dropped off a little. His touch is back to the level of a good player as he's been missing or double touching a lot of balls he would normally one touch. I look forward to him getting back in touch and taking a game apart again soon. Hopefully starting this weekend.
  15. Beating a dead horse there 'Rusty'. My opinion after he was dropped was that we wouldn't see Pedders again barring major injury. He is not an AFL level forward & his trump card as a mobile ruck had taken a turn for the worse, he'd lost his mojo. Don't agree with you on Smith either, his papers are not stamped. They've moved him to a different role and it looks to be working. I think we could see him at AFL level maybe as early as next week depending on how Trac & hogan pull up.
  16. There are a few on the list now that probably know their AFL dream is over and are just going through the motions. JKH is one of them. They could take a lesson from the 2 former skippers, Grimes and Trengove who kept racking up possessions even though they didn't get the reward at the selection table. Tim Smith is really giving it his best shot and good on him for that...I hope he gets a call up and can play that forward/mid role. He would have been a good replacement for Trac if the timing was better.
  17. I see Mackay as a NQR but maybe worth a go on limited cash. I think we are up to our eye balls with Gaff...
  18. Would have been interesting to read Crow posts when he decided to leave. I'm sure there were plenty of haters & negative Nancy's.... This stuff is unfortunately not just restricted to our supporter base. It's a scourge on society.
  19. I would never question his fitness but I would question his touch and even though he was up to being battered by Crossy the club didn't think he was ready for a game with Casey. You can't beat match fitness but lets hope he has a blinder, sometimes happens first game back.

  21. No he didn't 'Nasher'. He started in rehab after surgery in the off season then missed training with the current injury from before the last preseason game. It could be argued he we played him too soon in those silly 'X' games after his first period of rehab. I would have played him at Casey. I'm sure his general fitness will be fine as he is a great endurance athlete, but is the injury up to match conditions. He's not a natural footballer so I also worry his touch may be off. ...but of course I hope he has a day out and all goes fine.
  22. Until Viney comes back I would have Oliver pretty much exclusively as a mid. Trac forward for sure...but we need Oliver in the midfield. EFC have no real grunt in there and we can take advantage of that.
  23. I think the one big change we need to make is in ATTITUDE ...and I don't mean the glib type "show some ticker" attitude. I mean don't close up shop, have trust in your teammate, get out and take some chances...in the last 2 games after starting well we've gone into our shells. A couple of mistakes and we're done, any semblance of working as a team goes out the window. I think this from Cameron Smith applies to us... “When we had a few errors in those first couple of matches, I think everyone just got a little bit tight,” he told Fox Sports. “All we were thinking was ‘don’t drop the ball, don’t drop the ball’. People were coming in from out of their position. We were crowding each other. We weren’t giving each other room or time with the footy. “We were playing with a little bit of confusion and a bit of frustration. “Three weeks ago, we just said ‘boys, let’s get back to the way we know we can play. Let’s get out there and enjoy our footy’. The results have spoken for themselves.
  24. It would be hard for him to handball from that position though 'Moon'...if you take him low. Also means he's not just walking around with time to find the right option. One of the things a good rugby type tackle will do is take the wind out of an opponent if you get them right under the ribs low and hard. It's not so easy to get a handball off then. Apart from Oliver we tackle like [censored].small cats...
  25. ...but it's not going to be a kid in the draft that will help us 'dazzle'... I think we will be in the market for Gaff who is a free agent then look to trade for a bit more run & class.
