Bernie goes whack
I've been saying this for a while. ...but good to hear Bernie agrees. It's probably our biggest issue. ...and the coach needs to fix it. Our midfield play as individuals. Watch last nights game and you see 2 top teams where the mids work for each other. Forget the idea of one paced, all the same etc...we're not. We just don't help each other and it's a big reason why the disposal is garbage. Sure we have some out and out clangers but then we have too many rushed kicks/handballs as well because the players don't play for each other.

TEAMS: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
I think on the current list Petty is our best long term bet for that position. Strong kid, good hands and has that bit of mongrel that Oscar doesn't... Unfortunate that he is injured this year.

Lloyd: Trade Oliver or Brayshaw
This is obviously some kind of troll post.

Lloyd: Trade Oliver or Brayshaw
Sorry, I just see it differently. If our midfield was structured properly we wouldn't have to be single handedly anything. That's the crux of the problem. I think it would work better and we would win more games.

Lloyd: Trade Oliver or Brayshaw
Viney.

Rising Stars vs the Dees
Oliver got 2 Brownlow votes in his first game... We forget quickly. Should have been AA in his 2nd season & made it in his 3rd. Yet some want to trade him.

TEAMS: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
Oscar didn't have a great game. ...and I believe you 'bin', saw some of it with my own eyes. What he did show is the need for and extra tall for structure down back. I just hope that Goody doesn't go away from that structure... ...So with some luck he plays Thommo in place of him.

COVID Breaches by Clubs Could Derail Season
Robbo having another shot at Eddie. Not the best of mates... He never misses a chance.
-
Lloyd: Trade Oliver or Brayshaw
He was an AA midfielder 2 years back and he's only going to get better. Has plateaued a bit at the mo but will finish his career as one of the best of his generation. Bet Lllloyd would love Oliver at EFC...guess what, you can't have him.

Deep Dive into Dees Issues
Surprisingly...he rated himself and the department rather highly.

Deep Dive into Dees Issues
Yep, another year wasted 'Lucifer'. Should have happened last season. They have to get a really knowledgable football person to do this job. I would think Pert has connections to Andrew Ireland from the Roy's days... he is the type of person for the job.

CHANGES: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
Tommy still out for mine. Either Pruess into the ruck sharing with Jackson. or Tomlinson in with Jackson.

Preferred Midfield Mix
Yep, was me. I think Jack needs to modify his game if he's to be of value to us. He needs to learn how to play in a team environment. Our midfield is not so much one dimensional as it is too individual focussed. We don't run a team midfield. Jack is one of the problems here but the bigger issue is the coaches have done nothing to fix it. ...and in their wisdom they have left the wrong player out in the cold...Gus. Viney and Oliver shouldn't be in the square together. Gus, Trac & Oliver with Harmes and Viney to be an impact player...

CHANGES: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
Anyone that has Tommy in the team this week has no idea and that includes the coach if he continues to play him...

COVID Breaches by Clubs Could Derail Season
Not that we really believed it in the first place but... There goes the idea that AFL media were independent and the AFL would not expect any favours.

Use of Tom Sparrow
Personal opinion but I don't think he is. I think he's more suited to the small defender role...
-
Use of Tom Sparrow
Sorry 'big', but I totally disagree on Tommy Mac. That was a very poor selection. Sparrow's selection was ok but he was playing the wrong role, no doubt and I've expressed that a number of times. Why Goodwin played him as he did was just plain dumb.

Use of Tom Sparrow
I thought he finally got it a few weeks back but... Yep, it's very frustrating. I wonder if/how it effects the players.

Go Get Garry
It wasn't Jimmy's position to ask for help. I actually blame the board for the position we found ourselves in. Jimmy should not have held the Presidency when ill and they should never have allowed him to bring Garry in. It should never have come to this. As for CS and the rest, well that was the old boys club at work. Garry was key to this as he was key to Bailey's sacking...don't think he wasn't wielding influence not only in the media but behind the scenes. As for him coaching. Give me a break...he can sit in the media and throw the odd grenade. All care no responsibility. Leave him there.

Use of Tom Sparrow
Along with the Tommy Mac selection we can say it was one of the poor selection moves. His impact was negative, Boak took him to the cleaners. ...If anyone needed to step up in the middle it was Angus but yet again he was left on the outer. We're often beaten at the selection table before we hit the ground... It was very definitely a mistake...

Assistant Coaches 2021
Got in early 'Nev'...I thought the big 'E' would have started this thread by now along with his 100's & 1,000'S of others since Thursday...

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOM SPARROW
I thought he was ok for a kid...he had a go. Doesn't offer much as a mid. Big body, not much else. He was towled up by Boak, many better players have been of course. I still see him as a defender if he's going to make it.

You have no idea...

CHANGES: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
You're right about one thing 'Mental'...we were too top heavy. The selection of Tommy Mac was a poor one. The best our forward half have connected & functioned in recent times was over the last 3 weeks, pretty much from the time Tommy left the ground with his eye issue. If anybody in our football department showed some sense they won't repeat the mistake again. Jackson with Wied gives us a functional forward half. Add AVB & Bennell then we have a chance of a winning score.
