Potential future at Melbourne University
Yossarian replied to Axis of Bob's topic in Melbourne Demons
You're basically saying that you'd like us to market to tourists arriving in Melbourne, but not international students staying long term. Makes no sense. I think people who can't get behind the idea are looking at this in a very short sighted manner. -

Apologies, was tongue in cheek. Didn't mean any offense. -

I like it, would finally be a link to Melbourne the city again. Plenty of potential for growing the supporter base by attracting interstate students who haven't watched a lot of footy and international students as well. The danger is all the Kim Duffys walking around, I guess. -

I miss the old Garland. Grow your hair back man.

No idea mate, I'm in no position to make suggestions. Now I'm thinking about it slightly more soberly, whatever's happening with the guys coming back in from the seconds seems to be working. I should probably hold judgement until I see how Barry and Nicholson do though.

Something's gotta be done about this Casey alignment. Better the seconds than the firsts, but losing like this does no good for anyone's head.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 15
Yossarian replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Could be the constant hyperbole and ridiculous statements given as fact. "Disgrace"... You plum. (Seriously, is idiot that bad?) -
There's gonna be some swearing at the tv this weekend.

And Crossy. -
Both Cloke and Boak waited until the end of the year to re-sign. It's a myth that all players who wait are gone. Jonesy, Pav and Nick Riewoldt all had thoughts of leaving their clubs at some point.

Chip's waiting til the end of the year. Anything before that is speculation and makes for pretty dull discussion. I've watched a few of these footy shows because one of our players is on it and I invariably regret it. Such a stupid program and the lads barely get an opportunity to speak. Will probably still end up watching it though cause I'm such a sucker for news on the Dees. -
Bloody hell it fills me with confidence watching Roosy speak on AFL360. Has to be only a matter of time for success with this guy at the helm.

Looks happy, doesn't he? That was Neeld era too.

Would be funny seeing Schulz and Vickery both turning into guns at other clubs, especially if it was ours, hahaha. A boy can dream. -

I feel much better after watching this again.

45 posts in and I'm already signing in just to block you. Nice work.

If our team truly wants to be great again, we will need all 72 players on our list next year. Screw what the AFL says... we need to stand up for what we believe in and stop being pushovers as a club. Only then will other clubs begin to take us seriously.

Would love to see Nathan Jones take a jumping overhead mark. Contested marking is the only element of his game preventing him from becoming a true A-grader at this stage.
-
He didn't get done in by Drew Petrie. In the few 50-50 contests he had, he competed well. The issue was the lack of midfield/forward pressure we provided, which was very reminiscent of last years efforts. Was very disappointing all round.
-
Petrie's a good player in a good patch of form who did most of his best work on the lead today thanks to North's midfielders hitting him up under little pressure. As a defender, Tom did alright, and hopefully he does learn to kick at some stage. Him, Bail, Grimes and McKenzie could all do with a trip to Auskick. Tom wasn't the only player to have a bad game today and he's been solid for most of the last two seasons. I'm still frustrated seeing McKenzie looking for the handball every single time he takes a mark... not for the quick play on, but because he obviously to all and sundry has zero confidence in his disposal.
