Training - Friday 23rd November, 2012 @ Casey Fields

if he was going to bail mid year (i swear the pun was unintentional), i would rather he goes now... Development is so much about pre seasons nowadays and the more time a kid has on a misson program the better -

Keeps getting reffered to as a running inside mid...could turn out alright. was he training with any clubs? -
I like how viney said we traded pick 88 to get rodan because "its a pick we werent planning to use anyway" and then we accepted it back for morton lol

First two picks very happy with. Last two picks very confused about ... a 23 and a 25 year old...? I thought that maybe Shane Nelson or Sam Colquhoun would have got a gig. perhaps its just the lack of a highlight reel that has me disconcerted. Collingwood did very well in the first round ... pricks

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DEAN KENT

I've got a very large grin across my face after watching his highlights ... first thoughts are he plays like a cross between Matt suckling and Lewis Jetta. He just left so many opponents reaching at thin air behind him, and then loads up that cannon of a left boot and sends like ball soaring. At one stage i thought he was going to do a Woewoedin length of the field goal...very exciting pick up by the dees and could well render Scullygate a moot-point. -

2013 List - ins and outs - spots available?
rolly replied to Curry & Beer's topic in Melbourne Demons
whats the diff between the draft and the psd? i used to think that the psd was for previously listed afl players, but ball got taken in the regular draft to pies as did sellar to us and when miller went to richmond... -
primary list i could not agree more, but with magner and couch adding midfiled depth on the rookie list i see it being of limited value to rookie more mids on top of the 3 or 4 we take in the nab draft in addition to viney. a rookie spot could be a very cheap way to find a nat fyfe, isaac smith type

anyone know about Riley Hutchinson? no video which could or could not mean something... "what they say" (afl.com.au/draftmachine) 185cm / 89kg Prolific ball winner with an excellent combination of speed, endurance and lateral movement. Medium midfielder with elite repeat speed and strength in the contest, he also has the ability to win his own ball. A 36 disposal game in Round 16 vs Peel Thunder at Colts level, his season best. Played all 5 games for WA at the NAB AFL U/18 Championships.

although players such as tupingwati may have individual threads i couldn't find a specific draft thread for the event as a whole. i would like to see Louis Herbert take a rookie spot. strong overhead mark, looks to have a burst of speed, excellent looking set-shot for goal but...skinny as a rake.(76kg) now before people bring up Lucas Cook and cale morton, if we take this kid as a rookie it is a lot diffent than spending a first round pick. in fact taking him as a rookie would be perfect because he isn't taking up a spot on the primary list, and we get 2 years to see if he can fill out. from afl.com.au draft machine: A very athletic, lightly built forward with excellent pace as well as endurance that can play multiple roles. Regularly impacts the scoreboard and possesses a penetrating right foot kick while also displaying strong hands overhead when he competes in the air. Kicked a career best eight goals against Murray in Round 8 of the TAC Cup and also appeared in one game for Vic Country at Under-18 level.

Bonnadio looks good...but that is the point of a "highlight reel". He is quick, chases and tackles, strong second and third efforts, perfectly weighted 50metre passes would love to have him, wonder why he would slip so far or is that just an indicator of how strong this pool is? Also like the sounds of atkins or nelson. Both sound quick and polished, and the exact types to compliment our strengthening inside game.

Put Clark on ice until round 10 if necessary ... Dawes, Pedersen, Sellar can pretend to play his role for structural value. Not saying they would be as good but in terms of the team getting used to a 3tall forward line. 2013 isnt too important, 2014+ is
-
We now have byrnes, davey, frawley, jamar, jones, macdonald, rodan and sylvia all over 100games Dunn and clark are in the 90's Watts, trengove and grimes all 50+ the light at the end of the rebuild tunnel is in sight...still think 2015 is about as early as we can be pushing for top 4 but could sneak into the top 8 before then with the right draw, bit of luck with injury and catching a few opponents off guard
-
From the sounds of the training reports and his time spent with jones one would have to think he will be spending alot more time in the midfield, certainly has the size and strength to be a hell of an inside mid. He may not be the most accurate kick but there cant be any denying he can kick it along way. A quick clearing snap from the centre could be 20m out from goal in seconds with a couple of strong talls ready to mark, and a dual premiership winning small to gobble up crumbs. Valid question marks on his engine and his speed however in my opinion would limit his prospects as a rebounding defender, however he could well end up "resting" deeper on a small fwd as i see nicholson playing alot more on a flank/wing

Who would you add/remove from the Leadership Group?
rolly replied to cooko's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wouldn't mind seeing jordie mckenzie in the leadership group. Wins the coaches award consistantly enough that they'll prob rename it one day Gives 100% everytime Can lift the team by example with constant 1 percenters -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOM GILLIES
rolly replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gillies to replace Sellar or Macdonald? If the choice is to get rid of Sellar or Macdonald it would have to be Macca surely? Sellar is serviceable down back, forward and can pinch hit ruck...or am I describing Pedersen? Maybe Macdonald will get another year but personally I would prefer Sellar. -
I saw him as a hbf forced to play ff and thought he did the best he could with what delivery he got. guess we'll have to agree to disagree. When did a forward line consist of only 3? how did our fwd line go last year without the 1 player?
