bails uses are very limited; wing or mid. he has proven that his disposal on the run is very ordainary so if he cant do his one job then what is the plan b? dunn at least has a plan b and even c it would seem. bail has not spent a couple of years being trained into a KPF despite lacking some necessary attributes, then to be tried as a wing/mid fielder only to end up in defence...dunns name goes hand in hand with bates alot of the time (normally regarding delistings) but both havei been moved from pillar to post and been found NQR. i think that dunn could be useful down back if given some continuity, not necessarily as starting 18 but certainly worth more than joe blow from the wafl which is prob who we would get after delisting him.

After listening to the speeches it sounds like the guys were making themselves incredibly accountable, no bullshizen just very up front about how disappointing the year was for all concerned. While i'm happy with the jacks moving forward as captains i think we missed an opportunity by not naming jonesy as captain...that kid is still only 24 but commands the same respect as a lenny hayes. he just does what needs to be done no matter the cost. Of all the players currently on our list he is one of the few that i could see having a medal named after him one day... other than renaming the coaches award after jordie (just a formality considering how often he wins it lol) Couldnt help but notice a few pointed comments about "buying in" and "doing the necessary hard work"...everyone assumes they're references to gys and cook but would love to know more specifics and whether it was coaches only who had words with these individuals or if members or the whole player leadership group approached them also overall gave me hope for next year and i will be signing up again...impressed that over 10k are already 2013 members

We need people who are going to rock the boat culture wise at the mfc. Josh Toy is obviously not mentaly tough enough for the sport if he gets homesick living on the gc...what happens when we have to play in WA? Does he only make himself available for home games? Josh Caddy...PSD or hope we get a 2nd round FAcompo pick otherwise no dice

If players are only coming to the club for a brown bag full if money what aort of effort can we really expect from them?? A couple of decent players who have been injured and cant get back into their successful teams(russell, young, byrnes), maybe a couple who have been starved of opportunities (moore, stevens, speight) and the go to the wafl, sanfl, vfl (and get some 23-26year olds who will break their bones and bleed red and blue for the opportunities they have been offered if we can get toumpas, kennedy and stringer with our first round picks then we will have most of our outside run for the nextvdecade with a bit if luck, and therefore we should be looking to "buy" a bit more grunt and muscle. Having said all that, would give jyst about all we've got after 20whatever our second rounder is for a shot at picking up charlie dixon or tommy lynch

Can you trade players for cash only or does there have to be a pick or player exhange? Not talking FA, just regulation trades
-
From memory he is in the slowest running group at the start of the year and then did his ankle somewhere around round 1. Its obvious elite fitness was never his strong suit and being unable to run is not going to help. If he can stay injury free through this pre season i think we will see the kid step up...we would want to get a hell of a good deal if he's still under contract

Rivers at geelong = gibson at hawthorn

Surely you are jumping the gun a little...not going to at least wait until FA period is over before saying Neeld stuffed up? So far under Neeld we got: Clark (win) Sellar (if not a win certainly not a lose) Tynan (will be a win if his courage doesnt get him concussed every week) Taggert (showed a bit before playing hurt made his injury worse). His win loss is no good but niether is the list at this stage...i'm holding my judgement until seeing how we do over the recruitment phase and round 1.
-
I've said it before and I'll say it again...using pick 13 for this kid would be overs. At this stage our inside mids will consist of jordie, jones, gys, magner, couch (viney). Our outside mids are bail and...nicho? blease? If we trade pick 13 and gc pick up kennedy it will be a bigger stuff up than cook v darling.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SHANNON BYRNES
rolly replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
I believe the highest form of compo is a pick straight after your 1st round pick...which is why hypothetically we could end up with picks 3,4,5...as long as the afl believe moloney is worth that much using their secret formula. Secret formula being code for demetriou and anderson sitting around scheming away -
Did he not make the same statement last year?

Maybe G Lyon should have spoken to R Lyon after all!
rolly replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Blah blah blah...if we had've got lyon we would've been in the finals and if we had've sacked bailey a year early and got Scott we would've won the flag. Bull§hit bull§hit bull§hit. Adding to the fact that there are enough current and pressing issues to debate like toothless tigers there is absolutely nothing to be gained from crying over spilt milk or playing coulda shoulda woulda with 20/20hindsight. 2of freos top players this year (clancy pearce and pavlich) were told to lose skin folds and they did making them better players...moloney got the same ultimatum, refused to get down to necassary playing condition and we saw the results. The coach can only give directions and imo it was the pkaying group who have to put their hands up and take respinsibility. We havent won a finals game since 2006! Neeld has been here for 2012! Do you really think Neeld would have drafted cale morton? Do you really think he would have taken lucas cook in the first round? Give the man a chance to form his own list. give the man a chance to instill some accountability into the playing group. So many on here talk about the disgusting and underhanded way in which gws poached scully and yet seem to think it would have been fine for us to do the same thing by going behind st kildas back to poach lyon. Lyons character has been tarnished at least as bad as scullys and sheedys and the whole gws organisation and how does that lead the mfc into a new culture we can be proud of? -
Could we not do a deal for jacobs like collingwood did with luke ball?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SHANNON BYRNES
rolly replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jay clark is a joke...honestly, how does he have a job? Byrnes would be a good pick up but oh how sweet it would be to have the chap-man in the red and blue -
who is cac and bbbp?
-
leigh williams was still put in an induced coma for several days while battling a brain infection/virus
-
I was about to create a thred titled "slaughter in the west"... North just look slow and unable to take a mark... So many free west coast players on the rebound.... Its amazing to watch the roos just continually chasing thin air...
-
because a 12month deal would have stopped him walking out on the club, even put him on 2 years with a "no money during prison time" clause
-
considering this years draft prospects pick 13 is massive overs... 2nd round FA compo pick+ davis (decent bodied defender) for caddy could be be worth looking at but if west coast are willing to take that pick+ jetta (quick small fwd) for koby stevens i would probably take the latter
-
My question would be "why was jurrah not recontracted mid-year" Even out of form he was less of a list clogger than most
-
if you think lynch and dixon have shown nothing you must clearly be a josh toy fan as obviously you havent watched a suns game. I agree with your views regarding midfielders mostly because there seem to be a fair few up for grabs. Which ESTABLISHED KPF are available this year?
-
would take dixon in a heartbeat and lynch even quicker. Tommy Lynch is still a bit gangly but his chase and 2nd and 3rd efforts are outstanding and i've been singing his praises (while living on the gc) when others were touting steven may and sam day as the future because of their bigger bodies. Wonder if gc would be willing to do a deal regarding a gysberts (inside mid to help gaz), stefan martin (like for like ruck/fwd but with more seasons) for lynch or dixon...hell i would throw in a 3rd round pick on top for Lynch specifically. THAT KID WILL BE A STAR!
-
Take them both... The club should select the best 22 on our list, keep the spare ruckman, pick the next best 3 as emergancies and clear off the rest. Just sign up as many players with experience you can find and put them on 1year deals
-
josh tynan is on our list his brother luke is not... Calling this game scrappy is using one too many s's... The wind is killing our efficiency and the boys are really missing fitzy, not sure why he isnt playing sheahan moved forward hope he can kick some goals
