This shows a fairly overdeveloped sense of what you think you are entitled to as a simple club member.

Indeed. We've had multiple exercises where people have done this for just about every year. What pick was Hird? 84 or something. Everyone passed on him 4 times. You're never going to get perfect draft results. Our issues are caused by other things, like picking the wrong types then developing them badly.

I know it is the deal, I'm not an idiot. But the 'deal' is just a construct, you can make a sport and a league work any way you want to. The last sentence is just your opinion. You might notice the EPL has pretty strong rights of ownership over players too. The only real difference is end of contract and I see no reason why players should be stopped from moving to the club of their choice, within some broad restrictions like not in the first couple of years, for example. That's just my opinion!
