  1. Would prefer we take Parish at 3 and McKay at 7. Parish is just the hard working country kid we need and McKay is similar in his attitude. Curnow may have got ahead of himself because of his brother, but there is no guarantee he is going to be any better than McKay. I think it all comes down to how we develop them, so take the kid with the better character.
  2. Kennedy will be a good solid team player. If you are playing finals, then you are going to have to rest players and rotate your squad a little. Rioli often gets rested by Hawthorn, leading into a finals series.
  3. Harmes as the surprise package. Love the way he gets his head over it and tracks the ball in a contest. I still think Melksham could be a really good player this year. He is one player who does not get phased about playing Hawthorn.
  4. Darcy Parish looks a bit like an undersized Isaac Heeney. I am not sure that he fits in with Roos big bodied, tall midfield profile. Maybe we will try to pinch Callum Mills from Sydney.
  5. Who says we need a Big Fish! If we develop Viney, Salem, Brayshaw, Petracca, Viney and Tyson well, then we've already got some solid A Grade talent. Throw in Melksham, Bastinac, Vandenberg, Harmes and a couple more draft picks this year. We already have Jones, Vince, Hogan, Garlett, Kent. I can see real competition for spots with this spread of players. Hell, Michie might improve in leaps and bounds and Gawny is looking like a superb ruckman at the moment. Chins up fellow Demons supporters, I think we can move further up the Win/Loss ratio next year!
  6. Essendon Fans would say any player is rubbish who wants to leave their beloved Bombers. Melksham is a really exciting player to watch in full flight. I remember seeing him compete admirably against Hawthorn a few years ago. He has a much harder edge and is more competitive than a lot of the players on our list. At his best Inthink he would possess many of the attributes of Angus Brayshaw and Jack Viney. Have faith in Goodwin, he was a seriously good footballer and a solid competitor. He will get the best out of our players and will command their absolute respect. Go Demons!
  7. Melksham has many of the attributes of a number of our better midfielders. He gets his head over the ball, he is very good at moving the ball forward out the middle, he tackles well and in addition to these skills he has a long left foot kick. I think somebody once said something about Roos really liking left footers.
  8. Appalling umpiring. The AFL obviously do not want an all interstate Grand Final. I hope West Coast thrash Hawthorn.
  9. Read the AFL article. Why do you think Beveridge is not talking to him. Why is the manager tight lipped. Michael Talia has made a horrific blunder and the Bulldogs are moving him on. When he first went to the Bulldogs, the senior list spent months knocking the arrogance out of him and I expect that he has not fully embraced the team culture at the Bulldogs,
  10. Have a look at the current issues that Michael Talia is having at the Bulldogs. Where there is smoke there is fire!
  11. I am aware of the reference that he was given by his school and Melbourne was told to avoid! He is very different to his brother Daniel. They are chalk and cheese. Daniel is far more reliable.
  12. Kid is a [censored]! Melbourne have already been warned off this guy at draft time 4 years ago. He is toxic to the culture Roos is building. Won't happen.
  13. I can't believe this is accurate. Read his profile on the Port Adelaide website, it reads like the profile of the greatest player to play for Port. He is their highest ever draft pick at 4 and he is considered elite by them. It's got to be Caro doing a wind up on Gary and other Demons supporters.
  14. Michael Talia should be avoided. We enquired about him in his draft year and were advised not to pick him up by his school. I don't think things will have changed in his character much.
  15. Have a read of Melksham's profile and stats on the Essendon website in the player profiles. You will find that he is a pretty solid performer. Go back and watch him play in matches like Essendon's victory over Hawthorn a year or two back and you will find that the kid can play!
  16. I look forward to Melksham make a few people on here eat humble pie. I am sure that Goodwin can spot talent better than any of us Demonlanders!
  17. He is a PEGS boy, who was coached by Ken Fletcher. From what I saw in his first few years, he is a very talented player. Put players like Brayshaw, Petracca and Viney around him and I Am sure that he can perform. People under rate how much the recent culture at the Bombers has set guys like Melksham back.
  18. Promising team effort after quarter time but we cannot beat NM until,we have cleaned out a few more players and we learn to start games switched on.
  19. I take a great deal of interest in the Adelaide Crows and see them as a bit of a second team after the Demons. I think some of you are being a little harsh on Tom Lynch. Yes, we need mids and I am sure that we will get them, but in order to be like a Hawthorn, we need depth in every position. Tom Lynch is an extremely capable Forward and don't forget that we will be adding probably Prestia, Petracca, Trengove, Kent and Frost to our regular 22 next year. I am sure that we will draft in at least 1 mid in the main draft, another in the Rookie Draft and we may well trade for at least one more. Having Lynch frees up Gawn to play as a sole Ruckman.
  20. Every member of the Melbourne FC has an email with a formula e.g. [email protected]. This formula was posted on here a couple of years back when Neeld was coaching. Hope this helps.
  21. Had a reply email from Peter Jackson today. It was quite a long response. He preached patience and stressed that we have already turned over 22 players and more changes are needed. He also spoke about it being 'a long journey' and that he got frustrated when players played like they did yesterday too. He also pointed out how young our list is and that the players do need to become more consistent. I am not saying I agree with him but at least it shows that he cares about this club. I admire his passion.
  22. Trying my foot. I think it is time to try Goodwin. After winning last week that was the most 'unprofessional' effort that I have witnessed live this year. There were quite a number of players who simply weren't trying today. They looked disinterested and they were not playing for the coach, the club or their team mates. A new game plan and a few more sprays are required with some of these flogs. Our biggest problem was our midfield who were not communicating with Gawn well about where his taps were going and not until the final quarter did they start to put their head over the ball, when of course the game was lost. Once again our 3rd quarter was abysmal. A 'please explain is now required from either the coach, the players or the board for that sub AFL performance.
  23. Look at the speed we moved the ball in 2006. Players went at the ball with real intent and look at the spirit that Daniher instilled in the team. Some of those things seem to be developing in the present team.
  24. We should keep Toumpas. He may well turn into a really good player. He has the right attitude and that may well transform him into a top player in time.
  25. I really thought Brisbane were tanking. At 1/4 time Leppitsch gave them a spray and they showed very little until after half time. Are they playing for draft picks because we were mostly ordinary today, but I will still take every win. The more wins, the more confidence for our players.
