Welcome to Demonland: Taj Woewodin
Thanks Chaser, I was very tempted to head out there, but need to earn some brownie points as I have a couple of work reunions and footy club nights next week. Heading out now to do some gardening and house chores and will watch the game after that. Then take the dog for a walk to the local park (where there just happens to be a couple of mates watching an Ammos finalšŗšŗšŗš¤«š¤«š¤« then home to watch the Dees I love Warner, heās well ahead of Taj currently and is just a born leader. The kid is a gun. Erasmus doesnāt do a lot that will catch your eye, he just does the basics very well and knows how to find the ball. You will think heās been quiet and all of a sudden 20 odd possessions 2 or 3 goals and a few score assists. Heās one of our boys from Sorrento Duncraig. Amiss I donāt know much about country boy J believe from the south west, who has developed very quickly after moving to the city on a permanent basis. Johnson been talked about for a while another northern coastal Perth boy from Sacred Heart who will impress, heap of endeavour and desire to succeed. Wins his own footy and also uses it well. Fairly cool in traffic, which is a decent trait for the next level

FINALS: Week 01 2021 (NON MFC)
Stop feeling sorry for us and stop saying the AFL caved in to Gerard Whately. He is not the scapegoat to blame. Did the AFL cave in to him in 2015 for stating the Bulldogs vs Adelaide game should be moved from the MCG to their home at Docklands, because they had earnt the right. Do you recall Whately in 2017 even as a Cats fan saying the Qualifying final being played at the home of the lower ranked side was the right thing to do because despite handing Richmond the advantage it gave more fans the opportunity to see the final. If we go down tonight it will have nothing to do with the ground. Itās a sad thing in Australian culture we always have to find excuses. The Eagles who I despise more than any sporting organisation in the world won flags having to travel even after finishing higher than other teams. They won because they were good and were resilient. I love the fact I follow a no excuses football club, we have a developing team who are becoming very resilient and are almost Anywhere Anyone Anytime. If weāre good enough weāre good enough, and based on what I have witnessed in the last 18 months I think we now are

Grand Final Venue Watch
Cheers for that, just hearing a lot of misquoted stuff across many forms of social media etc. And on here that WA will shut down on 1 case alone. This is absolutely false as having some knowledge of the previous lockdowns in WA through work and succession planning before lockdowns were announced. The one case has to have been out and about in the community whilst infectious or been in contact with others whilst infectious who have then gone out into the community The teams straight away start contact tracing locations attended of the infected person and their close contacts. After those initial inquiries an assessment is made and decisions are made on imposing restrictions and or lockdowns. We have had cases out in the community previously which did not result in lockdowns, but that really isnāt newsworthy. My understanding is each qualifying team for the GF if in Perth will get around 12-15k allocated tickets for their members. The other 30-34k tickets will go to other corporates, sponsors and other AFL clubs to sell as packages as per every other GF. Still a lot of water to go under the bridge yet and I have no issue with and would probably prefer Melbourne getting over itās current COVID situation and a large majority of Dees supporters getting to witness it. However as a 40+ year supporter and 25+ year member of the opportunity arises where I get to attend a GF in Perth Iāll be grabbing it

Can you show me a quote verbatim where McGowan said players families wonāt be able to apply for the entry permit and quarantine with the playing group

Adam Cerra
Nothing regarding a trade of late, heard earlier in the year he was Geelong bound, but doesnāt seem to be the case. Nothing to do with Freo just he and his partner wanting to return to Victoria by all accounts

2021 AFL Hall of Fame
Seriously the WAFL of the late 70s and early 80s was not a lesser competition and at worst equal to the VFL. The South Freo, Claremont and Swan District sides of those eras were powerhouse sides, and they were followed by the up and coming East Freo and Subiaco sides who went on to create the core of the Eagles first 2 Premiership sides. The joke of the HOF is the fascination with the modern day player and this is highlighted by Wiley being inducted the same year as Burke, considering Wileyās career ended in 87 when Burkeās started

COVID & AFL 2021
Certainly the events of the last fortnight hits home how sheltered we are. One of my colleagues in work is an Afghani ex-pat whose previous employment over there involved interactions with the US troops. His family members are in hiding as the Taliban will kill them. Certainly gives us a reality check

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I watched Scotch vs Hale yesterday in the last game of the season Erasmus plenty of the footy playing in the middle but upstaged by one to watch for 2022, Mitch Barron. Absolute physical beast in the middle, wonāt be a tall mid or endurance beast, more of your inside bull. Broke his ankle early in the year and only returned for the last 3 games. No school for him next year so will watch his form at Claremont over September and next season. Another Sorrento Duncraig boy who Iāve watched come through and looks to hurt opponents in a similar way to the young Selwood and Viney who parents hoped wouldnāt tackle their kids. I rate him higher than Erasmus, although Neil has the ability to hurt opposition on the scoreboard.

COVID & AFL 2021
The writing is on the wall in Perth, 50 refugees arrived overnight having travelled through Dubai and are quarantining in a hotel in the Perth CBD. I can see where that will end, given our previous issues with hotel quarantine

Plus 1 Cats for several years and Dogs have been denied home finals based on not getting big enough crowds, but itās not a conspiracy for them

Optus is the same size as the G, but a logistical nightmare. From memory Launceston is a big wide ground and Belrieve is a bit thinner but the wind there can be difficult to deal with

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Van Rooyen has spent most of the season playing PSA Football. Heās played the last 2 games for Claremont Colts kicking 6 & 5, which would be a big reason why heās moved in. PSA finishes Thursday so I would expect him to move up the draft boards now

What would you do for the club if we won the flag?
I actually donāt know what I would do, as years of my youthful exuberance gave way I think it would be like winning lotto, something you hope happens but not believing it actually will. I know I would have a decent drink, but not sure what my initial reaction would be, a mixture of overwhelming joy, relief and shock. I honestly thought in 87 after watching us at the G in the first final against North we were on such a run, we were going to win it beating whoever was in front of us, but alas it didnāt happen. 98 again I thought we were a chance but the old finals system and White going down at the wrong time didnāt help. I knew in 88 and 2000, something special needed to occur but on both occasions that was snuffed out by halftime. In 2018, I knew we were cooked going into the Prelim, that was evident against the Hawks the previous week that the tank was almost empty. This season I have seen a very different defensive structure like never before, but like others I just donāt know if weāll do it. Hopefully I find out, what my reaction to winning the flag will be

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
My youngest played against Jacobās younger brother Benji a few weeks ago, what a player. He was playing up a year and running off halfback hitting forwards up with 35-40m darts

Welcome to Demonland: Taj Woewodin
I spoke to Shane yesterday, heās pretty bullish about Taj getting drafted and would love him to play at the Dees. As expected he kept his cards close to his chest, but I got the impression the club have been in regular contact

TEAMS: Rd 22 vs Adelaide
Iām happy with his disposal and decision making he brings others into the game and reduces turnovers inside our forward 50 and the ability for teams to hurt us on the rebound. You have been potting him virtually since he came into the side and whilst you ate some humble pie earlier in the season I knew it wouldnāt be long until you were calling for his head
