  1. Karl Langdon was saying similar tonight that if Jack Watts was at another club he'd be a better player. Brad Hardie piped in with if we were looking at it now Watts would be a pick in the 30's but in fairness to Melbourne his info was if the Eagles had the first pick that year they also would have taken Watts, it was only later on they settled on Natanui
  2. reread post 30 toe to toe with a supporter during the 4th quarter
  3. I have a Pie in the house as well, and talk about the innocence of children. Both my boys have been Dees members from the day they were born, in 2010 my oldest boy was 4 and changed to the Pies because his best friend was a Magpies supporter. I had taken my boy to watch the Dees in Melbourne every year and every game they play in WA. In 2011 I took him to see the Pies play Freo in Perth which was his first game to attend as a Pies supporter watching them live. At that stage they were on the big roll of their season before losing to the Cats and they were awesome that night. As we walked away from Subi my boy said to me "Dad how come Melbourne never win when we watch them" I was stumped and had no answer.
  4. Stuie people are different and yes he is a great kid but fook I don't care anymore, Will Schofield's father died last year and he walked in told Woosha he wanted to play and honour his father and did. He is behind Watts in every facet of talent but can run he also has guts, heart, mongrel, desire and the right attitude
  5. Have to say Gonzo, I have never felt the way I do today, whilst we have been kicked from pillar to post before, yesterday has almost broke me and I am not a pessimist. We are loyal supporters and it because we care so much for this club, part of me agrees with the bolded above as the board seems to know we will dig deep and help out the club, but if by Round 4 this has not improved some form or drastic action is required. 4 memberships in our house and only 2 Dees fans amongst us, money donated here and there when the budget allows but if we don't improve that will be it until the team gets their house in order. I am furious, this mess is years in the making before the previous coach and board but that is not to eliminate any responsibility on anyone currently at the club, effort is not hard you can lose but you give your all I bleed red & blue and so should the players
  6. Ollie Wines will get it deservedly but Jack will get a nomination at very least this year
  7. I was gutted yesterday and absolutley devastated pretty much numb for the remainder of the day. I woke this morning and whilst the sun has come up and after a nights sleep, reality has sunk in - I now know if this does not turn around fast we are in serious trouble. In all honesty I can not think of life without the Dees, whilst watching footy will be enjoyable as I will have no mood swings affected by results, No MFC will be a big void in my life
  8. He has a game plan but for the sake of the club and his future he needs to realise if they are not buying in he needs to play one on one footy. I know the Hawks struggled to buy into Clarko's gameplan but their player group always brought the non negotiables and had some classy mids, which bought him time. Unfortunately the time for big decisions is getting closer
  9. Stuie we get the message but FFS you can't sack a coach after Round 1( plenty were calling for Baileys head after Round 1 -2010) And don't use the Hinkley's first game line. I like others are questioning Neeld after today but I now really am questioning the player group. If they don't know what they are doing it's an indictment on them either because they have had 18 months to learn it or they should have went to him and said look we are struggling with this we need to simplify it (who knows maybe that could occur now like it did with Freo in 2006). In regard to Hinkley he has a midfield head and shoulders above ours, he also had players running hard, putting their bodies on the line and bringing intensity. They are non-negotiables, Jack Viney, Matt Jones, Grimes & Clark brought those as did Blease for the short time he was on. Neeld changed things up a couple of times today and went man on man, we did okay for 10 or so minutes and on both occasions stopped the onslaught for a while. However Port had greater desire and ran off our players and basically wanted it more. There were times when we had greater numbers around the ball, or when the ball was kicked to space, Melbourne players stood guarding space and while I accept that is a component of a zone it doesn't stop our players making a decision to attack the ball, to many times they stand and wait for a team mate to do it but the opposition player runs hard and gets to the ball or the contest. I think it's one of the reasons we struggle at kick outs due to lack of run and just waiting for the ball to come. This is the reason why Viney stood out for us today he ran and made the decision to attack the ball. In a nutshell our players are dumb and maybe Neeld needs to re-evaluate this and just play simple man on man footy. So whilst I am concerned deeply after today I also know Neeld is aware he only has one crack at this gig and will also be aware if it isn't working and this continues he will be gone. Our players need to have a good look at themselves after today and if the majority of them have an ounce of personal pride those who line up next week will at the very least bring intensity and effort next week and a will to run hard in both directions. I have said on another thread I am giving the player group till round 4 before I start making personal attacks. Neeld has till round 10 in my book before I make a final call
  10. Agree with most of this but Mitch Clark's attack on the ball is fantastic and we need it from others, you would think it would inspire his teammates but sadly don't think many of them have it in them. As others said I think Blease was sub due to coming back from injury, would think he will start next week.
  11. I'm actually talking about the boys who were left out like Kent & Jetta, Trenners is also in that boat but he was underdone. Viney and Jones were our best today because they GAF and made themselves get to a contest, put in 2nd efforts and tried to run & spread. I'm gutted and never personally attack our players but I'm over it, there is a long list of players who I will give till round 4 and if they don't show effort I will start naming names. 3 more games like this and we are on our knees officially. I have followed the club long enough to be used to losing but what I wont cop is lack of effort and intensity at least stand for something lads your a fookin disgrace and I hope your hurting like me and the rest of loyal Dees are
  12. They can do what they want in their own time if they are good enough, sadly today they look a shambles and played like it. The defenders would be better off having a $50 bet on who can beat their opponent and win a contest. Watts I have stuck by you for a while, (I'm not a Nic Nat fan my choice that draft was Hurley) but FFS son when the chips are down look inside yourself and at least get to the contest and hit it hard, you never know what might happen. Shave the beard and the head and FFS get some c#*t into you.
  13. Would at the very least like to see us stop making the game complicated and just play man on man, just worry about beating your opponent and just run hard into space when one of your team mates is looking for an option.
  14. Dawes will give us structure, but Mitch Clark will struggle with 6 day turnaround Tommy Mac needed for the back line Terlich BAA was close to BOG for Casey yesterday and we need him or Strauss to use it off half back, seen today if you have one outlet (Watts) and they cut him out of the game you are screwed I like hard players who have a dip & that is Kent & Jetta so bring them in Trenners despite the detractors does not get towelled up by opponents and his defensive pressure is needed through the middle Blease's pace could be hand as well, we looked slow today but that was more because we were plat footed and second to the ball and hesitant with our ball movement
  15. 6. Viney 5.M.Jones 4.Grimes For me that is it, Nate Jones, Jamar & Clark all had a dip and can maybe get 1 point for that, Sammy Blease had a go when he came on but the game was gone at that stage
  16. Really don't know what to think, devastated, gutted, numb etc. I tipped Port because I rate their mids but I expected effort like the Doggies put in yesterday. The footy department can run you as much as you want but you have to want it, look at Viney just goes at every contest. I like others am thinking why, this feels really bad and despite not being the most important thing in my life losses like this affect the mood for the week. I am very interested to see how we bounce back from this, angry as hell ATM but trying to contain myself till next week. The boys better come out in round 2 similar to 2010 but wont hold my breath. Need to start playing boys who just give their all and never leave you wondering. Red & Blue till I die but ATM this club is killing me
  17. Their supporters are fair weather supporters to a tee. I first emigrated from Ireland as a kid and picked the Dees because fate dealt me the hand of the first game I watched was Melbourne v Fitzroy and I picked the Dees. Many of the kids I went to school with were Hawks, Bombers & Blues fans as they were the powerhouse clubs of that era, god those years were hard as a Dees fan. We returned to Ireland for a few years and we returned to Perth when Meth Coast came in, plenty jumped on board which you expect but I and others stayed true to our teams. A large group of kids at school followed the Hawks, Bombers & Bluebaggers who were still strong. They taunted Meth Coast in the early days prior to Malthouse coming and stood fast to staying true to your team. Around this time I headed back to Ireland and followed the Dees from a far with videos sent via the post and week old replays on RTE or Channel 4. When I returned in 96 all the Hawks, Bombers & Blues fans had jumped on board the Meth Coast bandwagon after their long run of success. These same people hate to be reminded of their previous allegiances and now claim to have always been Meth Coast fans since their inception. It continues to this day to see grown men in their 20's & 30's suddenly take up following the Eagles (especially from 2003-2007) claiming to be lifelong fans is an embarrasment. They whinge about not being able to get membership but ask them why they didn't joing up in 2000/01 and the conversation suddenly ends. That is a short version of where my hatred started
  18. Jolly, Jacobs, Mumford & Maric show you they are out there as second fiddle in other sides. If none of our youngsters come on as ruckman we can chase another.
  19. You don't know me well enough, my boys know me which is why the question was asked. Believe me I hate Meth Coast more than I hate Glasgow Rangers & that is saying something.
  20. Yes old meant Sporting Team/Organisation, my 6 year old said to me before Dad would you come and watch me if I got drafted by the Eagles and I said yes, but I would be hoping you played well but your team copped a flogging and that is the honest truth about how I would feel
  21. I can honestly say I hate Meth Coast and I really mean that, I hate no sporting team or organisation in the world more than that lot. I still love watching the 2005 Grand Final
  22. Smaller competition old dee and with the way the zones are set up in WA teams tend to have prolonged success over a period of 5-10 years before dropping off for a period. Due to the make up of the competition you can be very ordinarly and still make the finals as was the case last year when there was really only three clubs in the running. Having said all this there has never been a finals series were one of East Perth, West Perth, South Freo or East Freo did not feature.
  23. Also comes down to improved fitness and durance, which results in less fatigue. Kicks lack penetration and direction if you are physically tired, which also equates to poor decision making when fatigue kicks in
  24. Probably coming from a different angle here but my pick would be Scotty or Adam Selwood when they duck the head heading into a tackle I would love to see someone give them a reason to think twice the next time they thought of ducking
  25. Lets face it Old Dee I thought the rebuild would last till 2012 by the latest, but for one reason or another we find ourselves in 2013 into another although it is my belief we are doing it from the inside out this time and once we stay the course on this one we will start singing the song on a regular basis and I will be able to wear the MFC tie on Monday mornings a lot more
