  1. GTB don't tell him that some people see only what they want to see or at the very least comment on what they recall to fit their argument
  2. The latest in WA is Dandaragan have lodged the paperwork for him to be transferred from Swan Districts (his WAFL club) to them to play Country footy. The Central Midlands Coastal Footy League is not the strongest league in rural WA
  3. Don't half quote me Wyl, I have been around the block a bit in my job I am subject to political BS and act under instruction from gobshites with pieces of paper and no nous every day. I wont fall for that one of trying to use a snippet of several paragraphs In 2012 we used our first 3 picks on an inside mongrel - Viney we used our another to secure Hogan a generational forward we took Toumpas who despite what you say does not have bad hips, he had a hip injury (does Tyson have dodgy knees) he is a great user of the ball who unlike Strauss and Maaric has more than that, he runs to the right spots, he had no preseason last year so I'll cut him some slack and there have been far worse than him in our first two games he has been okay. We don't have Wines but we have Viney and they are the two you should compare, we hedged our bets and we will see where Toumpas ends up, how in the name of god did the Hawks overlook Judd when Hodge spent the first couple of years struggling with injury. Sometimes both sides can win
  4. Wyl Nic Nat smashed us early and used his athleticism in the first 20 minutes, he ran out of gas from about half way through the second. why do you think our inside 50 count was so high and our score ended up the way it did, last week was the same. It doesn't have to be all our forwards back at once just 1 or two to give us structure and straighten us up
  5. Are you back using drugs Top of the pile Jurrah over Rockliff - Flash and able to turn one out of every 10 games with no sense of the application required to play at the highest level against a kid who has shown he can do the hard yards and is nowBrisbanes Best player Bennell over Sloane - Left field selection over hard working mid who came regarded as having solid work ethic is now probably Adelaides best midfielder Cook over Darling - I understand why he was overlooked but he would have been great for us and every recruiter must have thought WTF when his name (Cook) was called, he may have been u/18 AA but size issues with step up for a KPP if not Darling then best available, Atley with great speed was available, Parker as a hard running mid was also there. Lazy recruiting again Maaric over S.Selwood - apparently an elite kick. over a player who comes from great pedigree and will be Meth Coasts next captain Blease over Shuey - Explosive pace but no tank and how hard would it have been to pick up on his inability to realise when to stop running with the ball Strauss over Zaharakhis/Beams/Hanneberry - elite kick again what makes this worse is plenty were talking about Hanneberry and he was right under our nose Morton over Dangerfield/Rioli/Harry Taylor/Ward/Brad Ebert - lazy recruiting Larke medallist "oh he must be good" when we could have had a game breaker with outside speed, a key defender, absolute battering ram hard nut mid, another good pedigree hard running mid FMD get some perspective, Toumpas can play Viney is not on the park and we went for an outsider having already picked up the inside mid in Viney it's the [censored] ups before the 2012 draft that we are paying for
  6. Really A decent forward line would not have allowed the Eagles players to zone off with the knowledge that their team mate would easily win a one on one contest A decent forward line either Hogan, Dawes and/or Clark would have lead strongly up the ground creating a hole behind them for Howe to lead into as 3rd/4th tall instead of going stationary one on one A decent forward line would have a provided a better contest and not allowed Meth Coast to just park themselves inside our forward 50 just waiting to hit us on the rebound A decent forward line would have seen no Pedersen, allowed us to play JKH from the get go as a crumbing forward and not had Toumpas and Byrnes as our two leading targets A fit Gawn would have allowed us to not have Spencer going one v 3 with the Meth Coast ruck division all day long and also provided another tall option resting forward and another target for the CHF who lead up the ground and wanted to get the ball in quick All of this does not mean we win by any means what it means is we could have stretched the Meth Coast defence a bit more and may have provided our mids with the confidence of getting the ball inside 50 nice and early with some belief it would not come straight back out over your head
  7. Agree, whilst I like the possession game our lack of confidence in players saying to themselves I'm going to take this on could see us creating scores with quick ball movement countering our Key position deficincies
  8. If you are looking at available rucks you wouldn't have to look much further than yesterday - Sinclair playing as their third ruck very athletic and can take a grab, Roos did it with Jolly and Mumford. Sanderson did it with Jacobs. If we have enough coin in the cap teh athletic ruckman I would be tragetting would be Zac Clarke
  9. Certainly agree re Watts as a leading forward especially with Howe leading up to the wing to create some space in the forward 50. Dunn has been one of our best and I assume you don't have Dunn as one of your talls needing to be dropped.
  10. + 1 absolutley feeling really down, taking all my strength to not just throw the hands up and say this is no good for me. Usually after calming down after a nights sleep I am cooler, but today I feel much worse and I am absolutley livid. I would give anything at the moment to hot our form of 2010 at least I would be happy for 1 third of the season
  11. I wouldn't trade all of them I would keep 1 and if we had 1,2,3 I would trade both to good clubs for a ready made and their first pick in the Teens. But only Round 2, as bad as today was I still expect some improvement over the next 21 rounds
  12. Pedersen can play of halfback, Fitzy just looked lost today and can't say much about him last week which was out of his hands. Didn't Dunn play as a forward during TAC and his first year at Sandringham/Melbourne. We desperately need someone leading hard up the ground just to create something and straighten us up, If Gawn can come in as a tall forward I wouldn't mind seeing Dunn play at CHF and Howe leading high up the ground. Unfortunately not a lot of options at the moment
  13. Whilst things can change fairly quickly in footy we are still more than another draft/trade period away from, yes we have plenty of key talls out but bad drafting/development whatever you like to say over the last few years has left us with a serious lack of depth and for us to be competitive throughout a season we really need the rub of the green in regard to injuries. We have been down for so long it is just heartbreaking and whilst we have seen some improvement over the pre-season and last week, games like today just make you feel terrible. It's hard to be positive and I really don't know when we will turn but I'll be red and blue till I or the club die. It's no point in us looking at bad choices made in the past they are done and we are paying for them now, pre expansion we could have recovered in a year or two from those mistakes but long haul now. Meth Coast copped the absolute hiding of all hidings from the Bombers at Windy Hill in 1989 25.10 vs 1.12. The following year they made the prelim in the first of 10 successive finals appearances with 3 GF'S and 2 Flags In 2009 Freo went down to Adelaide 19.16 vs 1.7 and played finals the following season. The Meth Coast side of 1989 & Freo of 2009 had the developing nucleus of good sides, which were far better than ours but I take solace in believing the right trades and the players buying in will see us back to being competitive fairly quickly. I need hope and this gives me some perspective
  14. We lack confidence and its infectious started last week with the missed shots. Forward structure is a serious issue causing several turnovers and nobody wanting to take the game on. They are a good side but they are flat track bullies and will not get complacent. Both quarters we have been caught napping for 5/10 mins and then been competative. Cant handle these supporters saying the players are not trying theres a big difference in skill errors and lack of endeavour
  15. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Danners!
  16. WAFL Round 2 West Perth vs Claremont My second look at Claremont this year and what a difference a week is in footy. The Cardies unveiled the 2013 flag but they were not on their game and their disposal left a lot to be desired and was probably the reason why they lost this game and as reigning premiers not sit with an 0-2 record. The Tigers had the right intensity from the start and they were hard at it all day, their two mids Luke Blackwell and Jake Murphy dominated the clearances and through the midfield. Young players to watch Darcy Cameron - I saw him last week and whilst he did a few good things he really didn't show much, today he was absolutely dominant against season ruckman Chris Kuenan, Cameron won everything at centre bounces and around the ground, which allowed Claremont to play Seaby forward until Cameron needed a break. I said last week he needs to do more and today he di da lot of work around the ground but needs to take more marks around the ground especially while resting forward but today he provided enough nuisance value when resting forward to cause problems. The improvement in one week was huge I will be interested to see him again this year and on this performance a monty to be drafted this year Tom Ledger - delisted by the Saints and still only 22 years old, he was clearly BOG today, was in everything floated through the middle and across half back taking plenty of marks and providing fantastic rebound. Ball use was very good and he was fearless at the contest. On todays display reminded me a lot of Mark Hutchings when he came back from St Kilda just looked to show determination to get a second shot. Shane Nelson - have been saying it for a few years now this kid just knows how to find the footy and his work rate and ability to run out games is exceptional. He is still only 20/21 but will need to improve his disposal at the next level. Has the endurance, pace and workrate at the next level and my only doubt on him is his size, he is light bodied which goes against him and my understanding is he is very shy and does not interview well with AFL clubs. Someone queried last week about Steven Edwards, did some really nice things today and has some tricks in the bag but he goes missing for long periods. IMO doesn't have anything which stands out not ferocious at the contest, not a great tackler and whilst he has some tricks don't see enough of him I did not attend the game last night South Freo vs Perth but Callum Collard who caught my eye last week, backed it up with another good performance kicking 5 goals and laying 7 tackles as a small forward which is a nice feather in the cap
  17. I may be wrong here but I think he mentioned something about being at the 64 GF on that thread, something about sitting behind a picket fence(pardon the pun) I think if you look through that thread you may find your answer
  18. Yes they have told Garlett he is not in their plans, other clubs may look at him but outside of Swan Districts he will be what is called a 10 point player. Each WAFL side has a points limit and if the player is from your draft zone they are only allocated 1 point. http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/dayle-garletts-return-to-perth-hits-a-snag-after-former-club-swan-districts-says-hes-not-in-their-plans/story-fndv8os9-1226867850868
  19. I agree it is getting very very tired Im expecting a response from OD along the lines of "the last 7 years has been very tired"
  20. I think you should just leave that as your response for most threads on Demonland. FFS is it that difficult to understand, continued issues not responding - second opinion
  21. and this we badly need, about time we had some good father sons coming through, Viney looks the goods so far and it would be nice to end up like Cats and Doggies picking up 3 or 4 decent father sons within a few years of each other, which would help out with getting first pick of them above other clubs
  22. I didn't notice him at all so I would be lying if I gave you any feedback on him. That's not to say he didn't get touches just to say if he did nothing exceptional came from them. I left at time on in the fourth as the game was gone at that stage but when Perth took their foot off the pedal midway through the 4th and the Tigers got some junktime possessions and goals when the intensity was gone, so stats could be misleading. Jake Murphy & Luke Blackwell usually provide plenty of run and drive from the Tigers midfield but they were really down on their usual output on Saturday and Ian Richardson who has been their livewire small forward option for the last 5/6 years will be missed this year.
  23. without being pedantic, if its the dropped mark you're referring to not QB but round 2 2010 the week after Hawks belted us off the park and we were expecting the mother of all hidings from Collingwood. Would take a similar result this week
  24. Johnson dominates at WAFL level and I am often asked why the Dees let him go andmy reply is Johnson is to slow at AFL level, has a big turning circle and gets bullied by bigger more mobile ruckman at the next level. One of the people I have said this to on numerous occassions attended the East Perth vs Peel game on the weekend as his son plays for East Perth. On Monday he said to me now I see what you mean about Johnson, Clarke showed the difference in a WAFL & AFL standard ruckman. I am sure there are plenty of boys in Victoria who carve it up at VFL level but can't make the step. On Clutterbuck he is one of many who are very good mids but just don't have the x-factor for the next level
