Changes for next week...
Pennant St Dee replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Song I don't know you from a bar of soap, and I am not judging you but when I got on here this morning and saw Byrnes name my first thought in all honesty was FMD just a lazy post, as we generally see posters calling for Byrnes, Bail, Jetta and Terlich (I am guilty of that one myself) to be dropped Byrnes is no world beater but he is an honest footballer and knows a lot about the team ethos and will have I am sure sat down with the FD in the off season and been told this is what we want from you this year while we develop the younger guys. They would not have promised him with any amount of games, and I would assume he gave his assurance to play another year at least to help out the club. I get sick of people posting the same names to be dropped without thought of their role in the team, I would have dropped Watts on last weeks effort but Roos has the great ability to get the best out of players and I was really impressed in the way everybody stood up yesterday. To me we looked like I side you wouldn't look forward to playing because you know they wouldn't leave anything out there. Roos hasn't just talked the talk, he has made minimal changes and I believe yesterday the faith he has shown in the players was repaid and I hope it continues, yes we will have ups and downs but I hope what we saw yesterday becomes more consistent. -

Yes I read what you wrote so Byrnes is not the future, is Crossy. Which part of Roos numerous times stating very clearly games will no longer be gifted to young draftees did you not understand Roos is instilling confidence by developing a winning culture, with a side going into every game expecting to win Age is no longer relevant, just do the non negotiables Players can develop in the VFL, he understands this as does Chris Scott and Alistair Clarkson Byrnes does what is asked of him and will continue to play whilst he does this. It is what Roos did in Sydney and what he will do here. Players will earn their spots and we can see they wont be dropped for the odd off game. No more change for changes sake and some of our younger players may just have to play 20-30 games at Casey till the opportunity arises and once it comes grab it - that is culture. -
The Jack Viney bump that never was!
Pennant St Dee replied to Matt Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I watched it again and the Nat Fyfe bump again numerous times and now I am actually a little bit more confident that JV may get off, Fyfe had a little bit more time to either execute a tackle or a smother. You still never know with the MRP but leaning towards accident that was just a hard contest where fate played a part -

What a surprise a call for Byrnes to be dropped, does his job forward pressure acts as does Bail who many ask for to be dropped. Do what Roos asks and you stay Any changes depend upon injury and any match ups for next week I'll trust Roos & the FD -

It's accidental I agree but it is high, the MRP can go either way on these things -

When you look at the slo-mo he is going to come under sever scrutiny. Hate to say it but the MRP after reviewing Nat Fyfe's shirt front on Rischetelli said if you chose to bump and the opponent receives contact to the head than you face the consequences. The only way out is if tackling was not an option, Georgiou is laying a tackle as Lynch gathers the ball, at this point Viney turns and braces for impact, he keeps the shoulder in tight. At speed not much in it looks like a 3 way clash but when you slow it down JV could be in for some time off. Accidental contact to the head, high impact. I hope he gets cleared but it will be severely scrutinised -
DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - ROUND 7
Pennant St Dee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6.Dawes 5.Tyson 4.Vince 3.Viney 2.Jamar 1.Grimes Unlucky Pedo, JKH, Terlich and Jetta. Have to say everybody can hold there head up today. You've set the bar boys maintain that as a minimum -
Can't feckin believe it, I went into the game thinking we wont get belted here if the boys bring the same intensity as last week, a win is only possible if we turn this into an arm wrestle. FMD what was that in the first half taken the game on and love that we are very quickly turning into a hard honest side. The fact we were challenged and held on speaks volumes to the change in mindset and the faith Roos is showing in the players. He doesn't just talk the talk putting the unchanged side out there today was a big endorsement into his belief in the players, very few passengers today if any, injured/hurting players continuing to fight on, that is what culture and belief brings. Hope all you deelanders enjoy a drink or three tonight because PSD will

Why they may change there away strip but I have followed Everton since 1976 and they have always worn Royal Blue jerseys and white shorts, Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Wolves, Leeds etc etc they have not changed in that time all still wear the same as they have for years. The new owner of Cardiff City who the fans want out, came in 2/3 years ago and changed their crest and colours the colours are very important to fans the world over. and in regard to NFL do a little search on how important it was to the people of Cleveland when the Browns moved to Baltimore and tried to take the name with them, hence the Baltimore Ravens
-
agreed we can't wear red as a clash because apparently it is dark in colour but Suns red is not dark when they play us Pies wear their dark jumper against Bombers traditional strip on Anzac day I say give them nothing it may be a small issue but stop being a pushover

Not bad RW you spent 1 hour posting while you were in the spare room on your own, just out of interest how many neighbours banged your misses in that 60 minutes

Match Preview and Team Selection - round 7
Pennant St Dee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Did I hear correctly both teams unchanged -
and Chris Masten falls into that category, teams let him have plenty of ball because he rarely hurst the opposition
-
Whats fairy land I have just named two players playing at a flag contender who are not as you say "jumping at the chance to resign" that isn't fantasy land that is fact. Crows lost Bok, Davis & Tippett in 3 succesive years & big Tex is yet to jump at signing the dotted line, so IMO it is self pity "why is it only us these things happen to us"

Nic Nat criticisms starting to build
Pennant St Dee replied to darkhorse72's topic in Melbourne Demons
Out of that group I would want Carlisle -
Nat Fyfe and Mundy say hello, how about we stop this self pity and harden up
-
My opinion on Lycett is he lacks agility, I have seriously seen Milk turn quicker, which is why I rate Sinclair higher and I also rate Sinclair as a better ruckman but that is my opinion.
-
Stuey watch the 2002 Qualifying Final Melbourne vs Adelaide, watch how bad Darren Jolly was and listen to the commentators basically lambasting him, he was a premiership ruckman 3 years later Who was Maric at Adelaide I saw Cox when he was at East Perth and his first couple of years at Meth Coast nothing special, Sinclair is very athletic can play forward and would come a lot cheaper than a Pick in the Top 3, which could be used to deepen our midfeld with players who have 2/3 preseasons under their belt. I do not know how you can base your thoughts on Sinclair as he has played little at AFL level due to those Meth Coast have at their disposal. Jono Griffen is a very good ruckman and will want game time and wont want to be second fiddle which all depends on how Sandilands body holds up Zac Clarke is just hitting the right age bracket and his form is suffering somewhat at the moment due to an interupted pre-season, he is another athletic ruckman who can play a variety of roles Darcy Cameron was overlooked somewhat surprisingly last year but has been very impressive playing seniors at WAFL level so far this year, sharing ruck duties with Mark Seaby at Claremont , looks to have a fair bit of hunger after a reality check at the draft. Takes marks around the ground, provides pressure at stoppages and in the forward line is a good tackler. If WRIGHT is the one big reward but big risk given what you would get in return for the pick and you would also want to be guaranteed the Lions or if anyone else finishes below us doesn't take him or trade the pick
-
Same was said of FRASER & KRUEZAR, no thankyou trade the pick for two quality mids & target ruckman not getting regular game in their sides the same way other clubs have managed to get hold of Jolly, Mumford, Hale & Jacobs. Cox & Sandilands came via the Rookie draft and I do not want to take another chance on WRIGHT
-
Another AFL Myth that has grown over time Pretty sure Sydney took GASPAR at number 1 and he ended up at Richmond via the Pres season draft as an uncontracted player, so hardly a waste of a pick. I would also think being a 2 time All Australian, club B&F and playing over 200 games the Tigers got a very good return for that pick

Players to target at the end of the year
Pennant St Dee replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
He rotated through the ruck with Paul Johnson last weekend resting in the forward line in the WAFL. Took some nice marks and kicked the sealer from a tight angle at about 40m with a wet ball. In regards to players from the West Freo Crozier - maybe but has not shown much yet Sheridan - has been poor this year and not sure if this is due to their side being less effective in the forward press which is resulting in teams getting a bit more space against them Clarke - absolutley Hannath - has dropped off this year but was very impressive in WAFL last season Griffin - has been good recently but coming back from a decent knee injury Meth Coast Shuey - in a heartbeat Gaff - IMO not worth a high trade or big coin, but good depth. Ash Smith - avoid would be mid range in the VFL Rosa - yes elite runner and goo duser of the ball Lycett - no big turning circle like Paul Johnson which he gets away with at WAFL level but a liability at AFL level worth watching Subiaco Greg Clark - played all his junior football as KPF good size and very athletic. around 192-3cm and has been given a run on the ball the last few weeks, well worth a look Cody Grace - killed it at underage level but struggled a little as an underage player at colts, has put some serious size on in the preseason, plays in the forward line but has ability to rotate through the middle. Bit of Sylvia about the way he plays but looks to have the right attitude -
Players to target at the end of the year
Pennant St Dee replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Callum Sincair worth chasing up, signed a 2 year contract which should be up at the end of this season. Due to the aura which surrounds Nic Nat, Sinclair is not being rewarded for his good form and may like to try his luck elsewhere and return to Victoria -
Seriously pull your head in, a lot of us have issues with Jack's perceived lack of effort but that is uncalled for
