Farewell Jesse Hogan
My youngest played halftime little league for the Dees v Eagles game at Optus. It was my first time walking on the optus surface. Noticeably harder than Subiaco Oval. Perth Ovals are built on sand which compacts hard and drains well, which doesn't allow for water to settle in like it does with mud/muck making it softer underfoot I think it's always going to be an issue at Optus

Are you surprised there are a lot of short sighted people on Demonland It's strange how one can be short sighted but still believe Norm Smith, the 87 Prelim, 186 has some hold over this list. Whilst also having no comprehension of how injuries, interupted programs can effect fitness and subsequently have an impact on skills and confidence. and yet it's the Pies supporters who wear the stupidity stereotype

Maybe Hannan will get to 80 games unless injury prevents him from getting there Pruess has shown improvement in the tank from the start of the year but is #2 to one of the 2 best rucks in the comp. Think Sauce Jacobs behind Kruezar I liked what Spargo showed last season and a few minute cameos this season which despite his size give me some hope for him. He's a good user and has a footy brain

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs West Coast Eagles
We dealt with boo stadium last season and this season silenced them till they got a late goal giving them hope in the 3rd. I agree Barass, Mcgovern, Hurn from the flag plus Shepherd are a tough ask

Dermie: Melbourne are downhill skiers
and that is pretty much what Dermot was saying

Dermie: Melbourne are downhill skiers
Listened to it in its full context, he was on the money and he was cautious in his approach very much talking about the now, he was glowing in his future expectations of Clarrie and Gus

you could have just said PSD your post has to much footy acumen and knowledge for me to provide a response Go away come back in 2 to 3 years when we are consistent Oh wait I hear a choice of a) This club won't survive 2 to 3 more years b) I've waited long enough c) I've heard that all to often from this club, I fork out good money and expect a response from the President or CEO

You are showing a total lack of football understanding. Watch the Hawks final, we were showing signs of fatigue, Gawn was cooked We were effectively playing Elimination finals for the last 6 weeks of the season H&A and finals, you can only stay up for so long until you crash physically and emotionally. Had we managed to finish top 4 and get a double chance I believe things would have been different but that is hindsight I went to the PF expecting to be well beaten I just didn't expect it to transpire the way it did. I expected us to give it a good crack in the first half but for fatigue to set in. The boys had an absolute crack first 5 to 10 mins getting nothing from some forward entries it was an absolute cauldron 60k home crowd very conditions, you could see the boys wilting in the first quarter The fact you fail to acknowledge fatigue was a factor and it was all down to Simpson and Co is laughable

Listen I've bit my tongue for 5 months now but this (like your the club will never move forward till everyone involved with 186 is gone) is ridiculous. You are one of the many who lives in the past moaning about your sad 55 years following the club, let me set you straight this playing group has nothing to do with the past They are not haunted by Norm Smith 186 is nothing to them now, (it would if anything made the Elimination final win a little more enjoyable for Chunk Gawn and anyone else who was on the list) The Neeld years The only legacy the past has on this list is the void caused by poor drafting in between the Danners and Neeld eras The players will be well and truly over the Prelim final loss or did you miss Bakers debut at Optus when we kicked ourselves out of the game. This weeks game has nothing to do with last season BB is somewhat right about being run into the ground at the end of the season but they went for broke and fell short. You roll the dice and this is where we are at, seasoned players get conditioned to that I anticipate the old " You just accept mediocrity" response but you couldn't be further from the truth. mark this down. Until the core of Oliver, Brayshaw, Harmes, Weid, Trac, Lever, Spargo, Frost, Baker, Salem, Pruess, Gawn, Hannan, Hore and Petty get a decent spread of between 80-150 games across them and Viney, May, Tmac, Melksham start pushing 150+ we will not see consistent top 4 contention over successive years. Others will come in and out but that is the core moving forward for sustained contention. It's the legacy left because of the recruiting mistakes which left the void

I don't discount Kemp as being a potential Bont/Cripps type

Think carefully ffs, I think I understand football a little I'm not happy with this year, it's a combination of things, not just a bad coach, a poor fitnees regime and is certainly nothing to do with Jackson or Roos not being around. I'm not throwing the baby out with the bathwater yet, many lessons should have been learned, I've seen changes in the game plan but mid season it's difficult to change and when the players are put under pressure they resort back to old habits, that will come with experience learning to deal with pressure and adapt to slight changes in game plan week to week Overall where do we start Under done players Satisfied players after improvement each year, becoming content with themselves Out of form players A game plan that once tweaked a little IMO will stand up with seasoned bodies but we ain't there yet Goody is also guilty of the above and like the players needs to learn from this Many of our players have been emotionally shot since round 4ish, they are bereft of confidence, not prepared to take responsibility. overhandballing when gettable chances to score or hit up a teammate present themselves. Big off season ahead for many

Round 18 - Dees v WC in Alice Springs
Agree Cards, good sides win anywhere

The AFL wants to reduce tackling
Here's a thought reduce the interchange and make it a war of attrition were players can't cover as much ground and we get more 1 on 1 One of he most brutal games I recall seeing the 89 Grand final had a total of 72 tackles

2 wins, 14 losses
Keep digging you may find the reason we're no good, this year Seriously we beat the same amount of Top 8 sides or more in the proceeding years does that mean we we're a better side in those years. We must have been a gun side in 2010 being a dropped Ricky Petterd mark away from a win and a draw against the Premiers. Apples and oranges

2 wins, 14 losses
Hawks, GWS, Geelong, Eagles = 4 top 8 sides last season but knock yourself out to suit your argument Not to mention the Crows were in the 8 when we pantsed them in the NT last season FMD the sky is falling

CHANGES: Rd 18 vs West Coast Eagles
Sorry I was there Friday night and Collingwood did bomb the ball long, they bombed to the pockets and backed themselves to win the ground ball or locked it in to try and get a score from a clearance

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
They won't give Suns a PP they don't need any more kids, they need seasoned players, think they will again give them 1st access to state league players and possibly mid first/second round picks which they must trade Anyone suggesting taking Henry with pick 2 is a clown. He's not even top 3 of the WA boys, kid can play but Freo and the side with the next 8 picks will roll over laughing if we offer pick 2 for Henry. I would love Anderson but think we'll have pick 4ish I'm leaning towards Kemp and playing him forward while he builds a tank

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Ffs Anderson, Rowell, Kemp, Serong, Stephens, Ash and Green are all ahead of Henry

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
I do not rate Jenkins and he would not come cheap in terms of salary, would rather pick up Casboult as a free agent to smash packs and provide a marking target and allow Weid to play as a leading target

Round 17 Non MFC Games
I was sitting next an Eagles mate last night who tried telling me Margetts never gives them anything. Margetts had just given a 50/50 Pies way, but I couldn't contain myself, just looked at my mate and said are you for feckin real

Round 17 Non MFC Games
Ffs they didn't hide him, everyone knew about him. He was outstanding in the WAFL Colts. Let's not rewrite history he was part of their next generation academy and were never giving him up. Freo are also going to do the same this year with Liam Henry. We could do with getting some value out of our NT deal and getting first access to their kids from outback communities

Round 17 Non MFC Games
Was there tonight great game and great result. Meth Coast is a team I despise and I tipped the Pies. Thought Pies were lucky to be that close at halftime but they controlled the 2nd half didn't get rewarded in the 3rd and looked in the 4th as if they weren't going to capitalize for their dominance inside 50m. Grundy destroyed Natanui around the ground, Goodwin and the FD need to learn from that along with Maynes job on Hurn.
