Someone on here recently said they had spoken to Choco Royal about James Magner. Royal mentioned that he will play round 1. Whether this is true or not, for the club to rookie him from under the Saints noses, it would be reasonable to consider that the extra midfield grunt we've lacked will come from Magner. He's very impressive at clearances too even if it is at VFL level. When you start putting the likes of him with Beamer and JT at the fall of the ball, opposition team will know there's going to be a hard fought contest. I do hope he turns out to be as valuable as Barlow has been to Freo.

It would be fantastic to see the changes at the Club result in some early wins. NAB Cup included. A win against the Pies or Hawks would sound out a few more supporters who might be on the verge of Membership too.

The NAB cup loses its significance very quickly if you lose. Unlike the season proper. But I agree, would be great to see some of the new rookies given a chance to stir things up.

While the Captains will more than likely be in those positions for many years to come, the leadership group however, will (imho) be a much more dynamic and changing set of players. Beamer just might get a role next year, Howe, Watts etc might show some real leadership traits and values to the coaches and the rest of the team this year and that could put them into contention. Some posters on here are acting like the whole group is set in stone for the foreseeable future. Neeld will expect the leadership indicators to be met on a consistent basis to maintain a position in the LG.
