  1. 1 game back after another long lay off. Doubt he was ever going to play a big role in the ruck this week. Lets see how things pan out over the next few weeks once he's had a few matches to get fully match fit and the bod remains in one piece. If they're not going to play him as a pinch hitter ruckman (as Roos has suggested), and i think they eventually will, then Pedo is a must in once fit.
  2. Roos on the selection of Dawes/Forst for the Hawks match..... ....."Dawesy will probably pinch-hit a little bit in the ruck, but we haven’t been unhappy with what Wattsy’s (Jack Watts) doing, but it gives us a bit more flexibility with Dawesy down there,” he said on Melbourne TV’s Roos’ Views. “We had [Justin] Westhoff against us on the wing last weekend, so it would’ve been nice to play Jack [Watts] on the wing against Westhoff. So there are some things that we can do with Dawesy, but predominantly he’s a forward and then we can ruck either Wattsy or Dawesy. “Frosty, we’ve been playing down back in the VFL team, and he comes in really to replace Col Garland, as that third tall with Oscar McDonald, Tom McDonald and Frost.
  3. The telling one for me CBD Is the extra pressure they're forwards put on Inside 50. Wonder If this has been the case with most of our games so far. Have we ever got the forward pressure side to a decent standard In this regard since It arrived big time I wonder?
  4. Some early touch through the mid couldn't hurt Hood and i've seen some very nice cameos from Garlo there, albeit they rarely give him a run there. Can't recall seeing him play through there y'day. FD might be worried about him getting hammered or something so are reluctant to play him there too often. I reckon his pace through there adds a diff look for the opponent at times and would be a nice, occasional, change up and maybe help warm him up for better work closer to goal when he goes back again. I also seem to recall him playing occasionally off HB for the Blues and coming through the mid on some mad runs (and a few running goals!) if my memory serves me correctly. We don't seem to try any of that.
  5. Touche'! May have thrown down a few many decades ago Demi. Not so much these days
  6. Yes i said that also Bing. In total agreement. Had a shocker yesterday but others do that also and get follow up games. Like Kent in Round 2 against the Bombers. Horror match but came out the next week against Norf and probably was in our best 10 players that day. Up and down since then. Frost a shocker in the game against Norf. Came out against the Pies and played ok the week after. Another below par game against the Toiges and a shocker against the Saints. Then dropped (maybe for match up reasons though , who knows). Going to happen with the young blokes. Takes seasons as you know to come up to speed and find any consistency. In the case of Jacky boy it took 7. Not sure if lessor lights (ie., not No.1 picks) will get that much leeway to come good though. Based on y'days performance Harmes probably out for Newton. But on his previous 3 to 4 weeks, especially the Lions in Rnd 9, i would say no. Wasn't the worst last week (but still ordinary) where i would have placed him on a par (roughly) performance wise in that match (ONLY) with say Tyson/Wagner. Just part of what comes with playing young blokes. Thereabouts one week, cloke of invisibility the next (or the one after lol).
  7. 4 against the Lions a few weeks ago Gorg. Garlett hasn't bounced back since his last decent game against the Suns 5 rounds back. Def our best small forward when he's on but his form has dropped away since that match. Can't see him being dropped.
  8. No argument there Bing and Harmes was easily in our bottom 2 WOG y'day. Had him as 2nd worst. You may have missed the rest of my post (and other earlier posts saying this about Harmes' overall game y'day).... ..."Had an ugly day but he wasn't the worst clanger offender".... "......Others tend to get away with more of them (or similar levels) though as their other work more than makes up for it (eg., Vince/Jones/Tyson) on the day and some others are no doubt coach's favs so wouldn't matter how badly they went ie., they've locked away enough brownie points from previous efforts/or they are playing a role (not a chico!) better than others apparently, which some would say is fair enough. Some are also just more involved in general play through the mid (like Harmes) and on such an ugly day are likely to turn it over a fair bit.
  9. On Clangers alone you are spot on Saty. Had an ugly day but he wasn't the worst clanger offender. Others tend to get away with more of them (or similar levels) though as their other work more than makes up for it (eg., Vince/Jones/Tyson) on the day and some others are no doubt coach's favs so wouldn't matter how badly they went ie., they've locked away enough brownie points from previous efforts/or they are playing a role (not a chico!) better than others apparently, which some would say is fair enough. Some are also just more involved in general play through the mid (like Harmes) and on such an ugly day are likely to turn it over a fair bit. Leading clanger count from y'day down to Harmes... Vince 8, Tyson 6, Frost 6, Jones 5, Omac 5, Harmes 4
  10. You have my vote. Today's game cant afford a one dimensional forward. Watts a great example of that. We will see what the FD has in store for Dawes if he stays on the park after another week or so.
  11. Easily the worst (still in the side) in terms of averages/output in the last 4 weeks Titan. If he performed reasonably yesterday i would agree with you. 4 in a row with a horror 4th game in there... Ben Ken time!!!
  12. Ben Ken for Garlett! WOO HOOOOOO! Go you beauty!
  13. Based on the fact that he isn't performing in other aspects of his game....yes. Otherwise what is he there for?
  14. He has given us very little other than about 1 goal a match since Rnd 7. He is there to kick goals, pressure and/or goal assist. His output yesterday was the worst of any player all year. 1 effective disposal and 3 clangers .... Actually sent us backwards with a Net -2 output. 0 Goals 0 Assists 0 shots on goal 3 tackles 1 one percenter. 26 AFL fantasy points.....the worst of any player yesterday and i would take a stab and say probably the worst of any MFC player all year (or extremely close to it). The next worst Dawes with 40 (first game back from long period away) and the next Harmes with 41. Even Kent's Rnd 2 performance against the Bombers (which was abysmal) and Frost's in Rnds 3 (Norf) and 6 (Saints) weren't as bad (but still bad lol).
  15. Unless you have access to the 'hit outs to advantage' stat from Champion we have no way of really knowing who is better as a pinch hitting ruck Boydie, including Pedo. Pedo just happens to have played more there with Dawes out injured so often. Watts has played maybe 3 or 4 games in that role. Dawes many more than that i would have thought. I am guessing the coaches wanted him in his first up game to just settle into a role up forward as well as getting his match fitness up without asking/demanding too much of him physically. Probably do the same in the next week or so until he does. Then push him into an occasional ruck relief role if his body holds up. He is prone to injury agreed and always a risk but only the FD/Dawes himself would know how his body is doing. Not sure how you would know he is going to be "out" of the side within the next month or so unless you have a crystal ball.
  16. Yes Song Everyone should be made to earn it. Underperformance will continue for as long as we continue to accept it. He's been horrid and easily our worst (overall) in the last 4 weeks.
  17. I would have thought Garlett firstly. Hasn't performed since Rnd 7 against the Suns. Bottom 4 performer in all rounds since and WOG for us y'day. Averaging just over 1 goal per game since the Suns match and would have thought he would need 2 - 3 on average (at least) to justify his position, especially seeing he is doing little else to contribute. I realise they are diff roles but pretty sure Ben Kenn could handle small forward role in place of Garlett. Need to send a big message here and actually put someone in who who might be willing to work harder to keep the ball i50. Have to try something to improve our forward pressure. Harmes would be next off the block but his recent form (without being acceptable) hasn't been anywhere as bad as Garlett's (until yesterday where he was only 2nd to Garlett for WOG). Yes i know he isn't a stay at home small forward but he does spend a fair bit of time i50 or close to it. Could instruct him to play deeper regardless. Garlett / Harmes averages from Rnd 8 to 11, 2016 Eff Disp 11 / 39 Goals 5 / 4 Tackles 11 / 14 1%s 3 / 3 Clangers 9 / 12
  18. Are you saying me mate Rusty can't sing Biff?
  19. Dawes doesn't choose to ruck or not to i wouldn't think Adam. That's a result of the match day coaches i would have thought. Nothing is left to chance now. A poor decision by them yesterday IMO.
